Welsh Kennel Club

Breed: Dachshund (Miniature Wire Haired)

Such a pleasure to be invited to Judge at this well run & friendly show with two very efficient stewards who helped make for an enjoyable day.

This breed is a joy to Judge not only for their type & quality but also for their happy disposition & showmanship. Lovely to see good teeth set in strong jaws & overall body proportions being good in the majority today. Most in lovely coat & with furnishings and good muscle tone especially evident in the rear on the move.

Class 240 VD (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 627 MILLS- JONES, Mrs C Ch Carlita Sunrise JW – a super start to my day with this lovely veteran who had good head planes with lovely jaw & teeth & well set ears. Nice length of neck into a correctly laid front, well ribbed back with lovely topline for age. Good underline with clearance, good for bone and height to length ratios. Well set croup flowing into correctly angled rear quarters, moved very well & had good coat & furnishings. Could not be denied BVD and BVIB

2nd: 597 BRUTY, Mrs Geraldene Jantar Red Horses Imp Polland – slightly smaller build dog who had a lovely harsh coat & furnishings. Good for head planes & depth of jaw, neck of nice length flowing into well set front quarters. Sufficient ribbing & height to length ratio, has the clearance and is well boned. Rear quarters well set for first and lower thighs but just felt that the croup could be a shade longer.

Class 241 MPD (2 Entries) Abs: 1

A good neck flowing into his correctly laid forequarters, elbows set under, well ribbed back with good topline and loin. Good underline and clearance with correct height to length ratio. Good set of croup and correctly angled rear quarters. Lovely coat, moved well around the ring if a wee bit untidy behind here when looking to award the RCC but happy to award BPD & BPIB

1st: 612 HAYWARD, Mr. And. Mrs Trevor Foxearth Frank Zappa – good for overall body proportions and clearance, nicely headed dog with good jaw, ear set & eye shape OK, good length of neck into his well angled forequarters with elbows under & well boned. Firm in topline, good loin flowing into well set rear quarters with muscling. Moved out OK here.

2nd: 623 KIRKWOOD-EMERY, Misses A & A Helydon Xtra Xpecial – nice young dog who needs to mature a wee bit more in his frame improving his overall picture & tidy up a little on the move. Good in head & eye shape, ears well set and firm neck into his nicely angled front quarters. Has the clearance, nicely ribbed back & firm topline into his rear quarters which need to fill a touch more.

Curvy under carriage with nice clearance & into correctly angled rear quarters used well on the move & with good muscling.

2nd: 635 PRICE, Mrs Nora Collidach Thomas Tank – placed 3rd in the previous class, overall put together well but just felt a little more refinement in head might have produced a better picture. Nice in neck and forequarters, elbows under & nicely ribbed back. Good clearance, rear quarters well angled and nicely muscled.

3rd: 647 UMFREVILLE, Mr Chris Dogrose Bee Of Sound Mind

Class 245 LD (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 629 MILLS- JONES, Mrs C Bimini Moonrise At Carlita – very smart dog with good head planes, furnishings & set of ears & eye shape. Lovely neck into well laid front quarters, elbows under & correct for ground clearance Good length to height proportions but just lost the topline a wee bit on the move. Lovely rear quarters, well set & muscled, moved out well.

2nd: 613 HOWELLS, Mrs Jane Fallowmill Time Traveler JW: - many of the above comments apply here & he fought 1st very hard. Just felt on the stack he did not stand firm on his front legs therefore dropping into himself somewhat. Good headed dog with a nice neck into his well angled forequarters, lovely body proportions & full muscled rear quarters used well on the move.

Class 246 OD (7 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 646 THORN ANDREWS, Mrs Z Griffingate St. George For Drakesleat – When viewed from above felt that the markings on the head detracted somewhat for shape but side view showed good planes with good shaped eye & ear set. A touch more furnishing would perhaps finish the picture but he had good strong teeth & jaw set. Lovely firm neck into his correctly angled front quarters, elbows set under & good bone & feet. Curvy underline giving the ground clearance, well ribbed back, good harsh coat & firm topline and good height to length ratio. Strong & muscled rear quarters set well to body, moved out well & happy to award him the DCC.

2nd: 636 ROSE, Mr Steve Ridanflight Remo – challenged 1st hard here but appeared to lack the enthusiasm especially when moving today. Good in head planes, eye & ear set, strong teeth & jaws and a firm neck flowing into his well laid front assembly with elbows set under. Good bone & feet & lovely harsh coat, lovely underline with good ground clearance, well ribbed back & firm topline. Good for height to length proportions and good set to croup & correctly set rear quarters with muscling. RDCC

Class 247 SBD/B (3 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 643 STONE, Miss Jodie & STONE, Mrs Susan Milkwood's May Time – young male pup who won this class on his overall proportions & movement. Good head planes, eye shape & ear set with good neck into his nicely angled front but elbows need to be a touch more under, once he matures & drops into his frame more this could all come. Height to length proportions good, nicely ribbed back & well set rear quarters. Good harsh coat. BSB

2nd: 641 SIEMINSKI, Ms Tracy J Dallandor Burdock – this lad was slightly heavier throughout than 1st & a little lower to ground. Nice head with good ear set & eye shape, well furnished and with a harsh coat. Sufficient neck length into nicely angled front quarters, well ribbed back & nicely set rear quarters, moved out well here.

Class 249 MPB (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 625 MARSTON TEAL, Mrs Sonia Lordscairnie Love In Paris – at her first show & a little reluctant to start in this quite noisy hall. Good head planes, eyes & ears, nicely furnished and a good length neck into her well proportioned front quarters. Has the clearance, nicely ribbed back but topline needs to settle a bit more. Nicely developing rear quarters which she used on the move. Lovely harsh coat & another I feel will benefit from maturity & dropping into her frame more.

Class 250 PB (2 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 634 PEEK, Miss Rebecca S Milkwood's May Ze – a sweet bitch with a good shaped head, eye & well set ears. Good firm neck flowing into nicely constructed front quarters, elbows set under, good for bone, a curvy underline, well ribbed back & firm topline. Nice height to length proportions with good clearance, nice set to croup flowing into well set rear quarters. Moved out well. BPB

Class 251 JB (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 622 KIRKWOOD-EMERY, Misses A & A Helydon Xeptional Xaya – headed a class of two nice bitches, just preferred the clearance & movement of 1st although she does need to tighten in front a shade. Good for head shape, eye & ear set with lovely furnishings. Neck of good length and front quarters well laid with elbows sufficiently under. Curvy underline & firm topline into well set croup & well angled rear quarters.

2nd: 639 ROSE, Mrs B J Merryline Martha With Rosencrantz JW – slightly untidy in her rear movement here & feel she needs to mature into her frame more especially in the rear. Lovely in head, ear set & eye shape, good for furnishings and with a good length neck into her nicely laid front. Elbows set under, nice bone & good clearance and nicely ribbed back body.  Harsh coat and sufficient body to height ratios.

Class 252 PGB (7 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 616 JONES, Mrs Sabrina Bimini Moonlight – lovely head planes with furnishings, nicely set ears & good to shape eyes. Good firm neck of length flowing into her well constructed front but would prefer the elbow to be set a shade more under. Well ribbed back with enough clearance & gently curving underline, firm topline into well set croup & good set to rear quarters. Harsh coat, moved out well.

2nd: 624 MARSTON TEAL, Mrs Sonia Lordscairnie Peaceful. Love – very similar comments apply to this bitch as to the 1st but I just preferred the flow of neck into the front & slightly better movement of the winning bitch. Good for overall proportions & angulation front & rear, good for head planes, eye shape and ear set and nicely ribbed back body. Good ratios for length & height with good clearance, harsh coat and moved out well.

1st: 603 DANCE, Mrs M Emem Joyful Sunshine JW – just loved this bitch, she made me smile with her exuberance on the move and the whole package that she was. Lovely in head, with furnishings, good eye & ear and a super length & firmness of neck into her correctly proportioned front quarters. Elbows set under with good bone & nice feet, well ribbed back into firm loin & good topline. Underline gently curving to abdomen with clearance, good height to length rations and a well set croup into well developed rear quarters. Harsh coat and nicely muscled throughout. Delighted to award her the BCC & BOB.

2nd: 628 MILLS- JONES, Mrs C Carlita Jellie Baby – another lovely bitch but just preferred the lay & set from the neck to the front of 1st. Good in head & furnishings, nice eye & ear set, neck of good length & good proportions to the fore quarters, elbows set under & legs of good bone. Nicely ribbed back, firm in topline & loin, good ground clearance & underline and good coat. Well set rear quarters used well on the move.

Class 254 OB (10 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 645 THORN ANDREWS, Mrs Z Drakesleat Hear No Evil – splitting hairs between these two lovely bitches but I just felt that this bitch had ‘the edge’ on a slightly better topline here today with a curvy to abdomen underline to match. Lovely head planes with furnishings, good length of neck into well laid & proportioned front quarters with elbows under & stood on nice feet & bone. Good harsh coat, well ribbed back into firm loin and good overall proportions of height to length. Strong & well set rear quarters, well muscled & moved out well. RCC

2nd: 602 DANCE, Mrs M Emem Hazel Sunshine JW – such a lovely bitch too, with a super head, eye shape & ear set flowing into a good neck of strength & length. Lovely angulation over her front quarters, with elbows set under & stood on good feet & bone. Body of good length & well ribbed back, firm loin and good ratios height to length with clearance under.
