Italian Spinone Club Of Great Britain

Breed: Italian Spinone

Italian Spinone Club of Great Britain, Beed Championship Show – Special Award Classes – 30th November 2025

Judge: Aarron Kehoe

I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge the special awards for a breed that I’ve grown very fond of. It was a pleasure to judge some fantastic dogs at a well-run show. I would also like to thank the exhibitors for entering and for allowing me the opportunity to gain further hands on experience in the breed.

I particularly liked the classifications of the classes, although they did present a challenge, with exhibits of varying ages and experience.

Bred by Exhibitor Dog or Bitch (4,1)

1st – Pugh’s: Gellini Special Edition

A lovely 13 month old bitch who presents a very typical and balanced picture for one so young. Feminine head with correct proportions and pleasing expression. Good length of neck flowing into a well constructed front and a firm back with correct rise over the loin. Nicely proportioned body with good depth and well sprung ribs developing well for her age. Particularly strong through the hindquarters which powered her movement. On the move she was relaxed and free striding, covering the ground well with purpose while maintaining a balanced outline. A very promising young bitch who should continue to mature well.

2nd – Allum’s: Sh Ch Macarica Fair and Square Jw

Quality 4 year old bitch with plenty of breed type and substance. Feminine head with good skull to muzzle ratio and typical expression. Good neck flowing into a well balanced front assembly and a firm back with strength through the loin and gently sloping croup. Well ribbed body with good depth and substance throughout. Strong, well muscled rear quarters. Moved soundly and steadily, covering the ground well, just preferring the more enthusiastic movement and youthful finish of 1st today.

Not Bred by Exhibitor Dog or Bitch (7,2)

1st – Dewar’s: Macarica Harrys Rock Jw

An 8 year old dog who presents a very honest and typical picture of the breed. Masculine head with good length of muzzle to skull, divergent plains and kind expression. Strong neck leading into a balanced front and a firm back with good strength and muscle through the loin. Well balanced body with good depth and spring of rib, carrying plenty of substance. Strong, well muscled rear quarters. On the move he covered the ground efficiently with a steady, purposeful action and remained relaxed and happy throughout.

2nd – Kruglow’s: Stowledge Scilla At Incantevole Jw

18 month old bitch with a pleasing outline and feminine appearance. Typical head with kind expression and correct proportions. Good neck flowing into a well balanced front and a firm back with correct rise over the loin. Nicely proportioned body with developing depth and good spring of rib for her age. Strong quarters. On the move she showed a free and easy action and covered the ground well. A promising young bitch who should continue to develop with maturity.

Champion Dog or Bitch (5,0)

It was a real privilege to have five champions before me in this class, all outstanding examples of the breed, which made the final placings anything but straightforward.

1st – Robinson’s: Sh Ch Gradevole Strufolli

A strong, well muscled nearly 5 year old dog with plenty of substance and a very typical Spinone outline. Masculine head with good depth of muzzle and kind expression. Good length of neck flowing into a balanced front assembly and a firm back with a strong muscled loin. Well proportioned body with good depth and spring of rib and powerful rear quarters. On the move he covered the ground with purpose and drive while maintaining balance throughout. A quality dog who presented a very honest and typical picture of the breed.

2nd – Dewar & Allum’s: Sh Ch Inostricani Palmina Del Macarica Jw Sh.cm

10 year old bitch with a lovely temperament and character who clearly enjoyed her time in the ring. She still presents a very typical and balanced picture. Feminine head with pleasing expression and correct proportions. Good neck flowing into a balanced front and a firm back with strength through the loin and well carried croup. Well proportioned body with good depth and spring of rib and still carrying good muscle for her age. On the move she remained sound and purposeful, covering the ground steadily.
