Afghan Hound, WKC 2025

The future looks bright for the breed. So many promising puppies and youngsters made me very happy and optimistic. I cross my fingers for their development and hopefully a bright future. Thank you to all for showing to me, I enjoyed my day very much. But, I need to remind the breeders, old and new; it is of great importance to breed from top quality bitches. They are the most important ones when breeding. With exception of the top winners the quality today was in the males, as opposed to the bitches.

Well built and with good proportions. Slightly low on leg for my taste. Masculine, excellent chiselling. Attractive expression. Good length of neck, excellent, strong, level topline. His croup could be slightly better angulated. Excellent tinged tail. Seldom seen, excellent forechest and angulated upper arm. Excellent rear angulation, low hocks. Attractive on the move, could have carried himself slightly better, excellent reach and drive. Super, silky coat quality. In excellent muscle condition.

2nd: MCLAY, Mrs S Cloudside Sun King

Well fed, attractive proportions. Excellent masculine head, lovely expression. Good length of neck, excellent topline, hipbones could be more pronounced. Excellent croup and tail. Lacks forechest, balanced angulation. Moves well.

Excellent type and proportions. Attractive head, excellent expression. Beautiful neck and neckline, strong topline. Excellent croup and tailset. Excellent forechest and front angulation. Strong, well angulated rear, low hocks. Moves really well, especially from the side. He is so balanced and effortless. One to keep an eye on.

2nd:STAINSBY, Miss A J Cloudside Alpine Sunset With Carmenote

Very much the same type as first, slightly lower on leg right now. Masculine head, excellent expression. Long, beautiful neck, strong topline. Promising croup and tailset. Excellent angulation front and rear. His elbows could be closer to his brisket. When willing to move his movement is very promising.

Very good proportions, slightly low on leg at this stage. Masculine well shaped head, lovely expression. Long, well set neck, strong topline, excellent angulation of croup. Good tail. Well bodied and angled. Very balanced on the move with great carriage and attitude.

Houndy youngster, could be a bit more masculine. Excellent proportions. Well shaped masculine head, slightly too deep in profile. Attractive expression. Good length of neck, strong level topline, excellent hipbones. Good croup and tail. Adequate forechest, excellent angulation front and rear. Beautiful low hocks. Very stylish and effortless on the move if not very enthusiastic.

At this stage he gives a heavy impression as well as low on legs. Lots thanks to his big puppycoat. He feels better than he looks. Attractive masculine head, excellent expression. Would have liked to see a longer neck, good topline. Well angulated front and rear, low hocks. Not willing to show himself on the move, is having a “wild day”.

Good topline, struggle to keep it level on the move. Maybe because of his high withers. Good croup, tail is not his fortune, no trace of ring. Effortless on the move with lots of carriage and style. Excellent coat quality.

Very attractive, beautiful proportions. Stands really well on his legs. Masculine, classical head, beautiful chiselling. Excellent expression. Long neck, strong topline and excellent hipbones. Too steep in croup, excellent tail. Excellent angulation front and rear. Unfortunately, not very often willing to carry himself, but when he is, he is very attractive on the move.

At first sight this dog lightens up the ring with his fabulous coat and colour. Really an eyecatcher. He is a strong dog, too much body and too deep in brisket. Masculine head, good expression. Attractive neck of good length, topline could be stronger, less weight will help. Balanced angulation front and rear. On the move he needs more strength and power, especially in the rear.

Strong male, too strong for my taste. Fantastic outline, good proportions. Masculine, very strong head, good expression. Adequate length of neck, strong topline, hipbones and croup. Well angulated both ends, hocks are low enough. Balanced on the move keeping his topline. Could do with some more reach and drive. Excellent coat condition.

Excellent type and proportions, masculine head, excellent expression. Would like less width of scull. Adequate length of neck, good topline. Tendency to slope. Excellent coat quality. Good hipbones, excellent tail. Very stylish on the move. Temperament could improve.

Very stylish and houndy dog, up to size. He is extremely well built and has excellent proportions. Excellent outline. Strong head that could be slightly more elegant, his heavy tan markings does not help. Excellent eyes and expression. Beautiful, long, well set neck. Excellent rock hard topline. Excellent hipbones and croup. Beautiful long well ringed tail. Excellent forechest and frontfill. Excellent front- and rear angulation, low hocks. Extremely parallel coming and going, most importantly he moves with lots of energy, reach and drive from the side with excellent carriage. All credit to his owner for this dog’s muscle condition, correct weight, clean teeth and fabulous coat. The coat quality is standard perfect. I am not a coat fanatic, but it always makes me happy when presented with a coat of optimal silky texture. CC

High quality male that pushed the winner until the final decision. Excellent type, proportions and size. Classical type. Masculine well shaped head, excellent expression. Moves well, but I would have liked to see him with more energy and some more carriage. But, he is another one I like a lot. Res. CC
