GREAT DANES CRITIQUE

Thank you to all those that entered under me, to South Wales Kennel Association for the privilege of judging at their Championship Show and to the professional hard working committee and my stewards who made sure everything ran smoothly. It is clear all the dogs I went over were well loved and of good nature. I was pleased to find some quality heads within the breed, however for me, I was disappointed to see little improvement in the areas detailed in previous critiques.

1st Fletcher’s SOPHELSA FIELDS OF GOLD – Fawn dog of 6 months, appealing head with length of muzzle, lay of shoulder, flat bone, moved freely and happy, shown in good condition, my BPD

Puppy Dog – Entries 1

1st Wright & Cranfield’s ZEFATHER’S TWO FACES WITH IRIEUSDANE – 11 month old fine coated fawn dog, happy to move freely, nice drop of lip.

Junior Dog – Entries 5 (2 abs)

1st Simpson’s RENESCENT BEWITCHED – Black dog of 13 months, clean cut head and neck with length of foreface, lay of shoulder, flat bone , level topline, enough angulation, little playful but free on the move.

2nd Lawton & Farquharson’s GARSAK SIR WINSLOW AT THORNBRAE – 14 month old elegant fawn dog with strength of head, crest of neck, level back, good bone, moved with drive.

Post Graduate Dog – Entries 2 (1 abs)

1st McLellan’s ANADAIN DEAD RINGER FOR LOVE JW – Fawn dog nearly 2 years, appealing head with flat cheekbones, length of foreface and drop of lip, correct lay of shoulder, flat bone, tight feet, enough angulation, moved quickly but level, my RCC.

1st McLellan’s ANADAIN LIFE IS A LEMON – Fawn dog, litter brother to PG 1 appealing head with lovely expression, clean crest of neck, flat bone and spring of rib, moved level.

Open Dog – Entries 6 (1 abs)

1st Pendleton-Watkin’s GOLDANIA’S KING OF DRAGO JW – Beautiful clear striped brindle dog of 2 ½ years, chiselled head with quizzical expression, flat cheeks, not too big in ear, clean neck, lay of shoulder, level back, slight rise over the loin, correct croup set and angulated quarters my DCC.

2nd Pocock’s CH/INT/LUX/SWISS CH TAMZDANE EMPOWER MINT JW – Clearly marked mantle dog of nearly 4 years, clean cut head, strong flat bone, correct lay of shoulder into level back and angulated quarters, beautiful coat, happy and free on the move.

1st Nunn’s ROSHANUN SHOW BUSINESS – Harlequin bitch of 10 years, what a happy excited lady to be out – couldn’t resist a gallop, carries her condition well, beautiful coat.

Minor Puppy Bitch – Entries 1

1st Pocock’s TAMZDANE CHERRY CRUMBLE – Pretty 7 month old harlequin bitch, clean white background with torn black patches, flat bone and angulated quarters, moved freely.

Puppy Bitch – Entries 4

1st Laycock’s JUNO VON DER RHON (IMP DEU) – Rich coloured fawn bitch of nearly 10 months, beautiful carved head with real expression, level plains, flat cheeks, drop of lip, correct lay of shoulder, level back into enough angulation, flat bone, tight cat like feet, movement was free, gently graceful and so natural, my BPB, RBCC and BP.

2nd Cranfield & Wright’s ZEFATHER’S GOSSIP GIRL WITH IRIEUSDANE – Fawn 11 month old bitch, pretty head with flat cheekbones and length of muzzle, flat bone, lay of shoulder, moved level.

Junior Bitch – Entries 4 (1 abs)

1st Page’s NOVAVIDA AESIRS CONQUEST – 16 month old brindle bitch, appealing head with flat side cheeks, elegant clean neck, level back, moved freely, lovely nature.

2nd Bithell’s VERTUMNUS RAISE YOUR GLASS TO BOURNTWYN – 16 month old clean cut fawn bitch, quizzical expression, kind eye, length of muzzle, correct croup into angulated quarters, moved freely.

Post Graduate Bitch – Entries 10 (2 abs 1 w/drawn)

1st Pendleton-Watkins’s GOLDANIA’S PRINCESS ETAIN – 18 month old fawn bitch, appealing head with kind expression, crest of neck into correct lay of shoulder, depth of brisket, angulated quarters, free on the move.

2nd Foster’s RAVENDANE LIKE A PRAYER – Fawn bitch of 20 months, gentle expression with length of foreface, correct lay of shoulder, flat bone, spring of rib, level back, happy on the move.

1st Stanton’s GOLDANIA’S DIVA PRINCESS – Fawn bitch of 2 ½ years, attractive head with dark eye, drop of lip, crest of neck, good bone, lay of shoulder into level back, angulated quarters, shown in good condition, moved freely.

2nd Merwick’s TARADANES STAR VISION FOR SAALAN – 3 year old brindle bitch, appealing head, correct plains, clean neck, flat bone, tight feet, spring of rib and angulated quarters.

Open Bitch – Entries 6 (4 abs)

1st Dyson’s PRIMUS DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER – Beautiful brindle bitch of such quality, elegance and grace, correct head plains, expression and ear set, flat cheekbone and length of foreface, clean crest of neck into well laid shoulders and depth of brisket, spring of rib, length of back, slight rise over the loin, correct croup with well angulated quarters, everything in proportion. I gave her a RCC as a youngster, loved her movement then, maturity at 3 years doesn’t disappoint, moving level and free again, so balanced, easily my BCC and BOB.

2nd Ferguson’s IR/SWISS CH RENESCENT TOO HOT TO HANDLE FOR CHATEAUDAIN LUX JCH CW25 JW – Clear coated blue bitch of 2 years, flat bone, level topline, correct croup into angulated quarters, moved freely.

1st Ingram’s ZWIEBELCHEN IN FLAGRANTI WITH DAINMAJIK (IMP DEU) – Impressive brindle bitch of 5 ½ years correctly chiselled strong head and expression, correct ear set and size, flat cheekbones and length of muzzle, angulated quarters, shown in lovely condition.
