Cotswold Boxer Club

Thank you to the officers and committee for the invitation to judge their breed club open show. It is always both an honour and privilege to judge breed club shows and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

The ring was of an ample size, but I always feel when we come to indoor shows and where we have a larger breed, that some handlers, justifiably, and dogs become a little more careful when moving. I believe that the dogs don’t feel they have the confidence or the scope to move out as much as they would do normally. That aside, there was quality across the classes and thank you to the exhibitors for entering under me. Over the years I have found the Boxer exhibitors to be one of the most sporting bunch of people.

Junior Dog 2 (0a)

1st Kurien’s - Levisbrooks Damon Salvador. 16-month-old. Masculine with broad muzzle, would just prefer a little less flew. Square and balanced in outline with good depth to chest, good topline, ribs well arched and well ribbed back. Angulations good. I would like tighter feet. Shown in good condition and correct musculature. Moved with reach and drive. Well-handled and presented.

2nd Seeney’s – Maransdeen Youbetcha. Just over 12 months, masculine head and expression with broad muzzle. Strong boned and well balanced in outline. Good topline and ribs well arched and well ribbed back. Would benefit from a slightly better lay of shoulder, and for chest to be a shade deeper, however at this age he is still developing. He was sound and balanced in his movement, but a little more reach and drive would be to his advantage. Handled and presented well.

Yearling Dog

1st Hare’s Jimbren The Irishman (AI) Almost 2 years of age, this upstanding dog has a masculine head, lovely eye, good width to muzzle and perceptible chin. He has a good depth to his chest and stands correctly in front, with lovely feet which presents a very pleasing and clean picture. He has the correct length of neck which enhances his noble bearing. He has an excellent topline and underline is correct. Good angles fore and aft. He moved soundly, pushing off from behind, showing his good reach and drive. Shown in good condition and correct musculature. He still has some maturing to do, but he has all the elements I was looking for on the day and I was delighted to award him Best Male & Res BIS. Handled and presented well.

2nd Merritt’s Diceulon Top Hat and Tails at Merquin (AI). 18-month-old with a masculine head and expression, lovely eye. He has good bone and tidy feet. Good topline, and well arched ribs. Would prefer him to be a shade shorter in lion. Acceptable angles although he would benefit from a slightly better lay of shoulder. Moved soundly but a little more reach and drive would be to his advantage. This young male has still some maturing to do. Handled and presented well.

Novice Dog 2 (0a)

1st Brown & Hutchings - Winuwuk Under Your Spell. This upstanding male is just over the year. He has a masculine head, broad muzzle, excellent bite & perceptible chin. He is evidently a youngster, but he is well made with good angulations fore and aft, strong boned and is another who has good feet and presents a clean picture on the stack. He has a well arched ribs and well ribbed back. He moved soundly, pushing off behind and showing off his good reach and drive. Shown in good condition and correct musculature. This boy needs time but has many excellent qualities that I was looking for. I awarded him Res Best Male.

2nd Humphries Lanfrese Cantaro at Chribanna – This male is just shy of 13 months of age. Very different to 1, but he has a masculine head and expression, good eye and excellent bite. He is strong boned he has good angulations and a good topline and clean underline with a good tuck up. His ribs are well arched and well ribbed back. He moved very well in profile but coming and going he was a little unsettled. Shown in good condition and correct musculature. Handled and presented well.

Limit Dog 2 (0a)

1st Johnson & Pynegar - Sashbob Never Would I Ever from Berwynfa. This young male of almost 19-month-old male presented a well-balanced outline, with masculine head and expression, would prefer chin to be more perceptible. Strong bone with good feet, angulations good. I would like him a little more developed in chest, but he is still young and needs time to mature and develop. Excellent topline and underline with good tuck up. His ribs are well arched and well ribbed back. Moves soundly and was well presented and handled.

2nd Godwin’s - Sultash Prince of Hearts. This four-year-old male has a lovely head and expression with a lovely dark eye. He presents a well-balanced outline with a good depth to chest. Well arched ribs and well ribbed back. His feet and pasterns are not to his advantage. Good topline and underline. He moved well in profile and behind, could be a bit tidier in front action. Handled and presented well.

Open Dog 1 (0a)

1st Brown & Hutchings – Winuwuk Walk It Talk It (AI) – This 2-and-a-half-year-old male presented a lovely balanced outline. He has a broad muzzle, but his expression is a shade hard for me and not to his advantage. He is strong boned with good angulations fore and aft, good depth of chest and forechest. Good topline and underline with good tuck up. His ribs are well arched, and he is well ribbed back. He moves soundly. Shown in good condition and correct musculature. Handled and presented well.

Veteran Dog 2 (0a)

1st Godwin – Sultash Cunco. A seven-year-old male with a masculine head and expression, presented a lovely balanced outline. Strong boned with a good topline and good angulation fore and aft. He has well arched ribs and is well ribbed back. Good depth of chest with good underline and tuck up. Good length of neck. Stood strongly on all fours. Shown in good condition and correct musculature. Moved soundly. Handled and presented well. Best Veteran In Show.

2nd Boles – Harvlin Hot Toddy – A seven-year-old male with a masculine head, broad muzzle and excellent bite. He is a shade heavy in head. Good depth of chest, topline and ribs well arched and well ribbed back. Good topline and he moved well. Well-presented and handled.

Minor Puppy Bitch 2(0a)

1st Mitchell’s - Diceulon Lulahmitz Surprise Surprise – This 8-month-old female presented a lovely outline, with lovely expression, dark eye and perceptible chin. She has good bone and good angulations fore and aft. Correct length of neck that finishes off her silhouette. She has good feet and overall presents a clean outline. She has a good depth of chest and has all the correct elements in place for her age. Good topline and she moves soundly with reach and drive when settled. Best Puppy Bitch and BPIS.

2nd Hawkins – Mellhawk Jiggerlicious – A six-month-old with feminine expression, dark eye. She is square and presents a good outline, with good topline and ribs well arched and well ribbed back. Angulations acceptable. She has a good depth of chest. Would like neater feet. She moved well in profile and drove off well behind. Handled and presented well.

1st Drinkwater’s – Sulez Smashhedit – A 14 month old with a feminine head and expression, lovely eye and perceptible chin. She has a square and well-balanced outline, with good bone. Angulations good fore and aft, correct length of neck. She has a good topline and underline and her ribs are well arched and well ribbed back. Excellent feet. All in all, presenting a nice clean outline. She moves well in all aspects and pushes off well behind. Shown in good condition and correct musculature. There is a lot to like about this female. Handled and presented well.

2nd Brown & Hutchins Winuwuk Ghostly Affair- Just over 1 year with a feminine head and expression and perceptible chin. She has good angulations with well arched ribs that are well ribbed back. She has a good depth of chest and has a good topline and underline and the correct length of neck. She moved soundly. Shown in good condition and correct musculature. There was very little between these two girls. Handled and presented well.

1st Hare’s - Jimbren Queen of Tarts (AI) – This female is coming up to two years of age with a beautiful head and expression. She has a nice eye and good width to muzzle and a perceptible chin. She presents a balanced square outline with correct length of neck. She has excellent angulations fore and aft, with a good depth of chest. Her ribs are well arched and well ribbed back. She has the good topline and underline. She has excellent feet and all together presents a wonderful clean outline, moving soundly in all aspects. She has all the qualities I was looking for and the moment I assessed her, she was the one to beat. There is nothing exaggerated about her. Shown in good condition and correct musculature. She was well presented and handled. I had no hesitation in awarding her Best Bitch and later Best in Show.

2nd Cherry’s – Cherryforge Hint of Russian – This female is 22 months of age and presents a lovely square, well balanced outline. She has a lovely head and expression. She has the correct length of neck and holds a good topline. She has a good depth to chest and well arched ribs and is well ribbed back. Moves soundly but needs a little more time to mature all-round.

3rd Godwin & Cherry’s – Jimbren Destined for Love with Sultash.

Novice Bitch 4 (1a)

1st Johnson’s – Ini Mini Myni Mo at Berwynfa- This female is just over 18 months old, with feminine expression good width to muzzle and perceptible chin. She presents a nice square outline, with good bone and good feet. Her ribs are well arched and well ribbed back. She has a good topline and underline and moves soundly. Handled and presented well.

2nd Ede-Rolfe’s – Melomigs Juniper. An 18-month-old female with feminine expression and lovely dark eye. She doesn’t present the ideal square outline; however, she does have a good length of neck and good topline. Her feet could be neater. She has a good lay of shoulder and return of upper arm and when shown on a loose lead this was evident. Movement acceptable, could do with a little more reach and drive. The handler changed leads between classes, and this made a difference. Well presented.

1st Humphries – Chribanna Good Timin’. A two year old with a feminine head and expression with good width to muzzle and perceptible chin. She has a square well-balanced outline, correct length of neck and good angulations fore and aft. She has neat feet and overall presents a lovely clean outline with good topline and underline. A little more chest development would be to her advantage. Her ribs are well arched, and she is well ribbed back. She moved soundly in all aspects. Handled and presented well.

2nd Kay’s – Miofrey Shoot Star JW. A three-year-old with feminine head, with lovely dark eye and good width to muzzle. She has a good topline and good depth of chest. Her ribs are well arched, and she is well ribbed back. Angulations are good and she moved well in profile although she tends to move a little wide in front. Handled and presented well.

3rd Harvey & Bole’s – Harvlin’s Mystification JW

1st Godwin’s – Sultash Charisma – This girl is coming close to 3 years and caught my eye when she came into the class. She is feminine in expression, dark eye with perceptible chin. Well balanced in outline with correct length of neck, good topline and good angulations fore and aft. She has a good depth to her forechest, with well arched ribs and well ribbed back. She has a good topline and underline. She moved soundly but I felt if she had more scope to move, she would impress more. A lot to like about her. Handled and presented well.

2nd Brown & Hutchings – Winuwuk Walking on Sunshine (AI) This girl is almost 2.5 years and has a feminine expression, with lovely eye. She presents a lovely well-balanced outline with good angulations fore and aft. She has a good depth of chest, good topline and underline. She moved well. Handled and presented well.

3rd Swansborough’s – Boxatiel Raven Black

1st Drinkwater’s - Sulez Teaser - A 2 year old with a lovely feminine head and expression, dark eye and perceptible chin. She presents a square, well balanced outline, with the correct length of neck. She has good bone, good depth of chest and lovely forechest. Angulations good fore and aft and she had a good topline and underline. She has well arched ribs and is well ribbed back. She moved soundly in all aspects. Another quality female who was shown in good condition and correct musculature. I was happy to award her Reserve Best Bitch.

2nd Godwin’s Sultash Enable – 4-year-old girl with feminine expression with a dark eye and perceptible chin. She has good depth to chest, correct length of neck and good topline and underline. Her ribs are well arched, and she is well ribbed back. Angulations are good. She moved well.

3rd Ede-Rolfe – Melomigs Juniper
