MINIATURE SMOOTH-HAIRED DACHSHUNDS
Puppy (5, 0abs)
1st Forge’s Normpug Roman Holiday BP & PG2
Super class of puppies, but the black and tan 10 month male winner stood out with his balance, quality and sound movement. Especially admired his classic correct head with dark well shaped eyes, strong neck, pleasing body length, depth and strength which was balanced to height, super tight neat feet and strength through his pasterns and hocks showing as he moved back and to holding an excellent topline, good reach and drive in profile. Super rear quarters which were well muscled. Well handled and presented to take this class, BP and later Puppy Group 2.
2nd Woods Alma Colours Yanky
Another pleasing male, 8 month old shaded red, with much the same attributes, just not quite the same strength in pasterns, but hocks ok, well bodied and a nice ratio length to height, super back end, another who held a strong topline on the move. Just loved the connection between this handler and her dogs, wonderful communication to bring out their best.
3rd Butterstone’s Joshotto Martha Gunn

Junior (3, 0abs)
1st Woods Kelcardo Planet Mars RBOB
12 months shaded red male who won this class with his super head, good feet, strong neck of pleasing length, strength thought the deep body which was well balanced to its length. Held a super topline during his sound movement and on the stack.
2nd Pearmain and Sherwood’s Delandmar Herbert Wood
Loved this shaded red male and as they moved round the ring on the first go around thought he would be my winner. Lovely male head, super depth, correct length, muscled strong quarters, strength in pasterns and hocks, neat tight feet. Held a super topline on the move and when stacked on the table, but just not co-operating when stacked on the horrible cold sand.
3rd O’Connell’s Rijobeau Rumours with Llennocor

A puppy and as he was brought into challenge for BP later am giving him a critique. Very sound on the move with super parallel hocks moving away, and of pleasing construction, of a super type, pushed the other puppy hard, preferring the length and depth of the overall bp winner.

Post Graduate (5, 2 abs)
1st Forge’s Normpug Apricot Beauty
Shaded red female and had pleasing construction and in excellent condition as all from this exhibitor. Strength in the pasterns and hocks which was missing in several today. Feminine houndy head, pleasing on the move.
2nd Woods Ruletadax Aguila
Different style of female, slightly longer and lower than the winner, but well constructed and still of pleasing type. Best of fronts, super outline. Sound on the move.
3rd Sommers Judy Rainbow

Open (9, 4abs)
1st Pearmain and Sherwood’s
Delandmar Ella Fitzgerald BOB This shaded red female has a type and style I really like. Well constructed throughout, correct in depth and length, excelled in shoulder and forechest construction. Admired her pleasing head, super dark correctly shaped almond eye, super strong correct length neck. Especially like her strong ribs and she wasn’t too long in the loin. Strong rear quarters with good and correct bend of stifle. She displayed super movement coming, going and held a correct topline in profile while moving, moved off her strong pasterns and parallel hocks, with reach and drive, sound as they come.
2nd Woods Ruletadax Levitica
Another quality exhibit, excelled in forechest and front assembly but didn’t quite match the rear of the winner. Very pleasing in head. Good on the move, holding a strong correct topline. So well handled and presented.
3rd Forge’s Normpug Tiger Eyes

MINIATURE WIREHAIRED DACHSHUND
Puppy (2, 0abs)
1st Rose’s Barratini Song and Dance with Rosencrantz BP & RBOB
Very smart wild boar in colour, immaculate in body coat, on first glance I thought he might be a pinwire, but his furnishings said otherwise. Stood smartly and superbly on the best of legs and feet. So balanced. His head appealed greatly with a super dark eye and expression, his front and rear assemblies were acceptably angled and balanced. Decent forechest and depth. Best of toplines on the move. Well handled and presented.
2nd Perry and Handyside’s Zoltarous Mini Kora
Well made chocolate dapple boy of pleasing type at the first show for
handler and puppy, what a great job they made of it, congratulations. Good coat texture and well presented. Excelled in shoulder assembly, forechest and well off for depth, good rear angulation too. Did well on the move, sound with a well pleasing topline.

Junior (1, 0abs)
1st Stewart-Brown’s Griffindax Gin Fizz
What a classy girl this is, just up my street for type, style and of the perfect size. Excellent texture of wildboar colour coat, and very well presented. Super head and dark almond shaped eye, strong and correct neck length, the right forechest, balanced in depth and length through the body, well boned legs and tight feet. Excellent muscle tone. Pleasing and sound on the move. Pushed hard for top honours.

Post Graduate (3, 0abs)
1st West’s Byabye Brillare with Archidax
Lovely outline to this red, I liked her proportions. Pleasing head and eye, good front angulation and forechest, smart on the move keeping her topline well.
2nd Tomsett & Bruty’s Dajean Kristar
At first glance this chocolate girl ticked all my boxes, but oh my she gave her handler a really tough time. Super type and so well constructed. Super dark eye especially for a chocolate. Classic head. Excelled in angulation front and rear with well developed rear quarters. So good to go over on the stack, but almost impossible to assess on the move. Once dog and owner build a bond and connection they will do well I am sure (believe they have only been together a few weeks).
3rd West’s Archidax Hocus Pocus

Open (4, 0abs)
Lovely class of very different types, but all pleasing in their own way.
1st West’s Archidax Dark Phoenix BOB
Super red girl, a classic balanced head, my notes say “a head I could look at all day”, correct eye shape and colour with a super expression. Really decent in forechest, depth and length, correct in loin, beautiful balance to her. Immaculate in presentation, very smart tidy feet. My notes say “super chunky bottom” - in the best way. Sound purposeful movement. Really happy to find this quality to give BOB to.
2nd Pennywave Pink Gin
So like her daughter who stood alone in Junior. Very pleasing for type and construction. Super harsh coat. Liked her head, eyes were a tad round, but a super dark colour. Moved well and handled and presented to advantage.
3rd Peek’s Whiteorchard Tiggy Winkle of Milkwood

Miniature Longhaired Dachshund
Puppy (2, 0abs)
What a tricky class to judge. Two opposite ends of the scale in terms of size, made it a difficult decision and whilst I was mindful that these are supposed to be “miniature” I had to set that aside on this occasion.
1st Gordon’s Ralines Kings Speech BP
This 8 month boy was well constructed and moved soundly and confidently which in the end won him the class. My dilemma was how oversized he was, although not weighing today, it would have been interesting to see where he tipped the scales. Excelled in coat and condition and that showed him off to advantage.
2nd Fairchild’s Restinim Miss Whiplash
Sweet pretty baby at her first show and was quite overawed. Felt she was a little on the small side and would love to see her again as she gains in confidence and matures when it would be easier to assess her.

Junior (2, 0abs)
1st McCarthy’s Nagshall Di Maria
Loved this beautiful cream girl, only just out of puppy, correct and balanced head. Pleasing front assembly and even better rear, excellent stifle angulation and really well muscled. Neat feet, good bone and strength through pastern and hocks, very sound on the move holding the correct topline. In excellent coat and really well handled and presented. Not quite as outgoing as her kennelmates but sound as a pound.
2nd Gordon’s Ralines Kings Speech 1st in puppy.

Post Graduate (3, 1 abs)
1st MacCarthy’s Nagshall The Odd Excuse JW RBOB
Another lovely female from this kennel, darker cream, certainly this breeder produces a consistent type and quality. Very pleasing correct balanced head, good neck length, excelled in bone, smart tight feet, great depth which correctly balanced to her length. In super coat. A pleasure to watch her move confidently round the ring on a great sound stride and she pushed the open winner hard in the BOB challenge.
2nd Gordon’s Ralines Kings Speech 1st in puppy.

Open (3, 1 abs)
1st McCarthy’s Nagshall Dyce The Ice JW BOB
My notes say “a head you’d never tire looking at”, so pleasing in balance with a super dark eye of correct almond shape. Good neck length and the right body proportions. Just the right amount of bone and again smart tight feet, good pasterns and strong parallel hocks, super on the move, showing reach and drive, pleasing straightness when coming and going, topline spot on. As all from this kennel, excelled in rear assembly, identical in great bend of stifle and strong quarters. In tip top condition.
2nd Gordon’s Ralines Kings Speech 1st in puppy

Golden Retrievers
Puppy (6, 2 abs)
Super class of youngsters, hard to split them
1st Oughton’s Carubelo Live The Dream BP & RBOB & PG1
Stood out for type and quality. Very pleasing in head, male enough without being too much which I found in several today for my taste. The right amount of bone, good length and depth to body showing the right balance. Decent forechest, well angled shoulders balanced to pleasing rear angulation, super topline on the stack and while he moved so soundly.
2nd Linfield’s Tonara Yellowstone
Not quite the balance of height to length of the winner for me but that has time to come, another nice male. His head pleased, well off for bone, moved with style and his tail didn’t stop wagging showing his lovely temperament.
3rd Stallard’s Ballybarkin Jack Daniels at Maplerose

Junior (2, 0 abs)
1st Oughton’s Carubelo Live The Dream (1st in Puppy)
2nd Greens Fenpinque Pumpkin Charm pleasing female, excelled in eye and expression, good in forechest, well angulated fore and aft, deep through the body. Moved stylishly with a good topline and tail carriage.

Post Graduate (7, 0 abs)
1st Pounds-Longhurst’s Mossburn Golly Miss Molly JW BOB
Just the style l was looking for, feminine and not overdone in any way. Her head is nicely balanced with a beautiful dark eye with a soft expression. Really decent in forechest, best of front and rear angulation that was balanced and pleased greatly, just the right depth and short and perfectly coupled. Strong and correct in topline held well during her super sound movement and tail carriage was spot on.
2nd Jolly’s Marsabit Tinkerbell for Letitia
Similar in style to the winner, just a little more of her, balanced head, smart neat feet, balanced through the body with good forechest, moved in good style.
3rd Eve’s Zannagold Follow the Sun at Bannersoph

Open (2, 0 abs)
1st Pounds-Longhurst’s Mossburn Galloping Major JW
Litter brother to the BOB and a lot of the same attributes apply. Pleased greatly for balance. Excelled in head & eye, you can see he is male without being overdone. Right for bone, not too much, not too little. Deep in chest, ample spring of rib, correct angulation fore and after, balanced in body length to height. Moved on an excellent stride.
2nd Stallard’s Maplerose All Tuckered Out
At nearly eight in fabulous condition and pushed the winner all the way. Super smart feet, well off for bone, pleasing in forechest and depth, neat hocks, moved well holding a good topline, another one I liked a lot.

MINOR PUPPY STAKES (35, 15abs)
1st Carver’s Oldbashurst Ko Phi Phi (Miniature Schauzer)
Absolutely super smart Miniature Schnauzer, presented to perfection. Straight and strong front, good shoulder angulation, pleasing turn of stifle. Deep in body and good ribbing. Head was balanced, he moved with a bit of attitude off smart parallel hocks and he was hard to resist.
2nd Kopycka-Wright’s Newvoldemort Maximumforce for Lerolux (West Highland White Terrier)
Smart baby with bags of promise. Head appealed greatly, alert ears, strength and depth through his short body with a good topline, pleasing bone, neat feet. Super coat. Held his tail perfectly and his movement was stylish and sound.
3rd Jayakumar and Rajendran’s Zenevieva Bolder Than Brass (Golden Retriever)
Cracking puppy who put on a much better performance in this class than he did in the breed. Really got his act together to show off his balance and correct confirmation A very pleasing head and feel he has a bright future .
