Irish Setter
Puppy (3, 0 abs)
1st Pym’s Marzanne Trigger Happy by Thendara. BP.
Plenty to like about this 8 month old male. Head has parallel planes, loved his expression and dark pigment. Pleasing width of chest, straight front, neat feet. Straight topline with slight slope, good sweep from hip to hock, would just have preferred a tad more length of rib cage, but this will lengthen as he develops. Beautiful coat and presentation, well handled.
2nd Rutherford’s Clonageera Summer Moments.
Preferred this feminine bitch when stacked and also on the move, but would have preferred a more accurate bite. I hope this will change as she matures because she shows great promise. Has quality and substance, oval skull, evident occiput, dark brown eye. Straight legs all round, good width across thigh. At 8 months of age there is plenty of time for her feet to tighten.
3rd Hadfield’s Marzannes Happy Returns.
Special Yearling (7, 3 abs)
1st Pike’s Redclyst Sibelius.
Loved his outline and shape, has elegance with substance, pleasing proportions. Balanced head with obvious occiput, dark eye, deep muzzle. Well laid shoulders, straight front, neat feet. Deep chest, well sprung ribs, powerful hindquarters with good sweep from hip to hock, legs parallel from behind.
2nd MacDonald’s Sheldonite It Takes Two Baby.
Narrower skull and muzzle than 1st and not quite as good in shoulder. Attractive dark pigment, deep chest, nicely protruding breastbone, straight front, straight top line, well ribbed back, impressive angulation behind, tail set on slightly lower than back. Well handled and beautifully presented.
3rd Chapman’s Sheldonite Only The Best.
Post Graduate (4, 1 abs)
1st Pike, Pike & Henderson’s Redclyst The Celt.
Well balanced outline, straight and true coming towards and going away, free flowing in profile. A kind dog with dark pigment, obvious brows showing stop, gentle expression. Muscular neck, pleasing shoulders, ideal width of chest, straight legs all round, firm feet with well arched toes. Well sprung ribs but rather shallow through flank, very good bend of stifle. Very well presented and expertly handled.
2nd Chapman’s Sheldonite Gingerbread Man.
Attractive head shape but muzzle slightly finer than some. Adequate angle of shoulder, good depth of brisket and well shaped rib cage allowing plenty of heart room. Tail set okay, straight legs, well arched toes, well bent stifle, pleasing length from hip to hock.
3rd Henderson & Szwajkowski’s Redclyst Pasha.
Limit (3, 1 abs)
1st Hadfield’s Covarney Time After Time for Marzanne. RBOB. Best RBOB Gundog.
Well constructed feminine bitch with quality features. Attractive head with oval skull, obvious occiput, deep muzzle, kind expression. Moderately long neck, pleasing front assembly, well placed shoulders, correct return of upper arm, deep chest with just enough width, straight front but feet could be tighter. Ribs reaching well back and with good spring, slight arch of loin, tail well set on. Hindquarters strong and muscular, good turn of stifle. Well handled and presented, moved a dream.
2nd Henderson & Szwajkowski’s Redclyst Pershing.
Well shaped head with parallel planes, strong neck, excellent depth of brisket and ideal width of chest, sinewy front legs, slightly sloping pasterns. Slight slope of top line, tail well set on slightly lower than back, plenty of length from hip to hock. Didn’t have the reach or drive of 1st on the move, I would prefer more length of body to balance with length of leg, and slightly more width across thigh. Very well handled.
Open Dog (4, 0 abs)
1st Pym, Bott & Millgan-Bott’s Thendara Marshmellow JW.
Won this class on balance of outline, depth, length and spring of rib cage, beautifully presented quality coat. Attractive head with balanced properties, deep muzzle. Good length of neck to well placed shoulders and return of upper arm, very good depth through brisket, straight legs. Slight slope to topline, tail well set on, powerful hindquarters and plenty of width across thigh. Very well handled.
2nd Hadfield’s Staratlanta Get A Wiggle On to Marzanne.
A bit shy today but he allowed me to go over him and wagged his tail. Quality masculine head of good shape, kind eye with intelligent expression, deep muzzle. Ideal length of neck, deep chest. He felt firm and well muscled all through and stood straight and parallel from behind. Sympathetically handled and moved very well, would prefer slightly tighter feet. He had settled later in the day in AV Gundog Veteran, and deserved his 2nd place there.
3rd MacDonald’s Redclyst Head Full Of Dreams.
Open Bitch (5, 0 abs)
1st Henderson & Szwajkowski’s Grenada Lofty Czerwony (imp POL). BOB.
A picture of balance and quality. Covered the ground well with long free flowing stride, excellent forward reach and drive from behind. Feminine head, muscular neck, very good angulation fore and aft, straight front, slight slope to front pasterns, small firm feet with middle toes slightly longer. Mature body properties with good depth of chest, ideal rib cage, slight arch over loin, well muscled hindquarters with good sweep through stifle, short hind pasterns, parallel from behind. I wouldn’t want her to carry any more weight.
2nd Hadfield’s Covarney Estee avec Marzanne JW.
Loved her head, long and lean with skull and muzzle in perfect balance, endearing expression. Neck of good length and well set into sloping shoulders, deep chest, straight front, neat feet. Well bent stifles and plenty of width across thigh, hind legs straight when viewed from behind. Excellent presentation and handling, didn’t quite have the rib cage of BOB or RBOB.
3rd Prangle’s Clonageers It’s A New Dawn at Heathclare JW.
German Shorthaired Pointer
Post Graduate (2, 0 abs)
1st Russell’s Fraulynzway Hayley’s Comet. BOB.
Appealed greatly for balance from every angle, and movement was in perfect unison. Liver ticked coat which was short and flat. Clean cut head, good length and depth of muzzle, medium sized eye with soft expression. Slight arch to muscular neck, well placed shoulders, deep through brisket, straight front, compact feet. Nicely sprung ribs, strong short body, broad hindquarters, good turn of stifle. Well muscled throughout and moved with long free stride.
2nd Adam’s Keigame Mystique Aurora. BP.
Liver ticked baby at just 7 months of age. Feminine head, balanced outline, straight from the front and from behind, good width of chest. Length of neck in balance with the rest of her, sloping shoulders, well sprung ribs, short back and firm loin. Sympathetically handled, carrying a little too much weight today.
Open (1, abs)
1st Russell’s Fraulynzway Lightning Bolt JW. RBOB.
Stood over plenty of ground, strong legs on firm feet, arched toes. Short body, well sprung ribs, slight rise over loin. Looked good from the front, handsome head, straight legs. Broad quarters, well bent stifles, impressive muscle tone throughout. Unfortunately he didn’t quite get into his stride today, and he tended to pace at times, but could not be denied RBOB..
Hungarian Vizsla
Post Graduate (6, 0 abs)
1st Milner’s Ivyvizbridge Just Thomas.
Typical masculine head which pleased in many ways, fairly wide skull with median line, strong muzzle, tidy ear set, gentle expression. Clean neck, well angulated shoulders and upper arms, front legs well under body, good width and depth of chest, well boned straight legs, cat like feet. Well muscled body, good length of rib cage, slight arch over loin, tail set on slightly lower than back, well developed hind quarters. Sympathetically handled.
2nd Challis’ Vizslanya Valor. BP. PG2.
Very promising 7 month old male who moved exceptionally well. Balanced properties, quality head, excellent bone. Good length of neck set well into level top line, very good spring of rib, impressive angulation of shoulders and stifles. Kind handler got the best from this robust youngster.
3rd Adam’s Vizash Elenk at Jamzco.
Limit (2, 0 abs)
1st Jefferies’ Vizslanya Domenkos.
12 month old male won here on his great paces, great forward reach. Elegant and graceful, a delight to watch on the move. Lost out in the challenge for BOB and RBOB because today he was slightly bum high which affected his outline, this is no doubt a growing phase and should correct as he matures. Pleasing angulation fore and aft, strong neck, straight front, well developed chest, very good width of thigh, tail correctly set on slightly lower than back.
2nd Milner’s Ivyvizbridge Hope’s Faith.
Feminine bitch, nice proportion of length of body to height, good width and depth of chest, straight front, feet not as good as 1st. Adequate angulation of shoulders and stifles, very well handled.
Open (3, 1 abs)
1st Challis’ Vizslanya Vizi JW. BOB. G4.
Superb movement, effortless ground covering stride. Balanced properties from every angle, liked proportion of length of body to height. Loved her feminine head, plenty of work, medium width of skull, muzzle broad and strong. Excellent shoulders, deep brisket, elbows close to body, well arched toes. Good spring of rib, well turned stifles. Moved straight and true coming and going away, unfortunately did not always stand straight from behind, this went against her in the Group, although her wonderful qualities meant she deserved her G4 place.
2nd Roe’s Rarog Ruda Szata for Pirospont JW (imp POL). RBOB.
Masculine head, clean cut and well chiselled, obvious brows, kind expression from well shaped oval eye. Plenty of width of chest, length of body ever so slightly longer than ideal, well ribbed up, nice width across thigh. Straight legs all round, moved true going away, but elbows not as quite as tight as some when coming towards. Impressed enormously with his great showmanship, at one with his able handler.
Spaniel (English Springer)
Post Graduate (2, 0 abs)
1st Hill’s Teignvalley Rags To Riches. BOB. G1.
Black and white bitch, symmetrical and racy, solid, strong and feminine. Won here on great forward reach and easy ground covering stride. Was happy in the ring both outside in her class and inside later on in the Group. Well shaped head, pretty face, appealing expression, clean neck flowed into well laid shoulders, well developed chest, straight legs, good bone, neat feet. Good depth of body, firm top line, legs parallel from behind. Beautifully presented and expertly handled.
2nd Hill’s Teignvalley New Beginnings. RBOB.
I found out later that he is litter brother to 1st – she beat him today with her slightly more positive stride, but as he matures I am sure his movement will tighten. Black and white coat covering deep and well coupled body, carrying just the right amount of weight. Masculine head, fairly broad skull, deep muzzle, kind eye. Good length of neck, really good shoulders, deep chest, straight legs. Ribs with good length, depth and spring, ideal tail set, good turn of stifle, hocks well let down. Presentation excellent, gave his patient handler a hard time when he kept moving his left hind leg, but I didn’t mark him down for this.
Open (1, 0 abs)
1st Kibby’s Trimere Taylor Maid at Pinhays JW, ShCEx, OSW.
Attractive head on this liver and white coated feminine bitch. Skull slightly rounded, muzzle broad and deep and ever so slightly shorter than skull. Plenty of depth to body, well sprung ribs, short loin, well muscled hind quarters. Straight legs front and back, good bone, movement not as straight going away, would have preferred slightly more bend of stifle.
Spaniel (American Cocker)
Post Graduate (1, 0 abs)
1st Luczynski’s Fabelsfee Nothing But Fun for Kanara (imp POL). RBOB.
Feminine, active, happy. Well developed skull, pronounced stop, deep muzzle. Clean neck of good length, straight front, well sprung ribs, strong short back, impressive hind quarters with good muscle tone and well turned stifles, stood straight from behind. Well presented buff coloured coat, displayed merry tail action on the move.
Open (1, abs)
1st Luczynski’s Baladeva Scarlet Letters for Kanara ShCM, ShCEx, VW. BOB.
Preferred the cleaner expression and slightly more level movement of this black coated bitch. 9 years old and enjoying her day out, effortless ground covering true movement in profile, straight coming and going. Pretty head, soft, intelligent expression, muscular neck, angulation equal at both ends, excellent lay of shoulder and return of upper arm, impressive bend of stifle, firm top line, tail well set on, good depth of body, pleasing spring of rib. Beautiful coat and presentation, expert handling.
Spaniel (Field)
Special Yearling (2, 0 abs)
1st Willcock’s Virginia Du Pech La Ginestelle mit Dynarkaraky (imp FRA). BP.
Preferred her overall balance and head. Eyebrows forming defined stop, foreface with plenty of work, good length and depth of muzzle, gentle expression. Long neck, very good layback of shoulder and well turned stifle to match. Straight front, flat bone, tight feet. Well developed chest and ribs nicely sprung, strong level back. Expertly handled, moved well once settled.
2nd Willcock’s Vanilla Du Rieu Grand avec Dynarkaraky (imp FRA).
Not as confident as 1st, but she is very much a youngster at 8 months and has plenty of time to learn her job. Finer muzzle and slightly shorter neck today, but appealing oval eye and lovely expression. Plenty of width of chest, straight front, ribs with good length and spring, firm level back. Her hindquarters were her fortune on the day, well developed, good width of thigh, very good bend of stifle, attractive in profile when standing, her hocks were directly under her point of buttock. She stood fore square naturally and from behind she had plenty of width between her hind legs.
Post Graduate (3, 0 abs)
1st Harding’s Kingsmist Tranquillity.
Liked her balanced proportions, she made a nice outline. Appealing head with skull and length of muzzle in perfect balance, oval shaped eye. Quality flat bone, plenty of width of chest, solid topline, tail set on slightly lower than back and carried well on the move. Well developed hindquarters, good bend of stifle, would just have preferred tighter feet with stronger pads.
2nd Porter’s Winsbrook Gypsy Moth.
Glossy black coat, well handled and moved with long free stride. Skull slightly rounded, muzzle broad and deep, neck in proportion to the rest of her, well angulated shoulders and stifles, impressive ribs for depth and spring, positive top line. Preferred her overall shape, but carrying a little too much weight for me today. Large round feet could be tighter.
3rd Willcock’s Dynarkaraky Apatura Iris.
Open (6, 2 abs)
1st Willcock’s Lux Ch Ustorpabyns Fields First Time to Dynarkaraky (imp SWE). BOB.
This liver coloured male stood out for me and won here on movement, true footfall, long easy stride, straight coming and going. Slightly rounded skull, good depth of muzzle, kind expression from oval shaped eye. Long and muscular neck, straight front, tight well padded round feet. Pleasing spring of rib, angulation equal at both ends, very good lay of shoulder, correct return of upper arm, bend of stifle to match front assembly, rear pasterns could be shorter but stood with hocks directly under his point of buttock.
2nd Harding’s Kingsmist Remember Me JW. RBOB.
This male has a similar head to 1st but not quite the depth of muzzle. Liver coloured coat, balanced shape and nice outline. Muscular neck and well laid shoulders, straight front, excellent bone, large round feet. Well angulated hindquarters, stood straight from behind. Lacks a bit of depth through flank at the moment but at only 2 years of age this may come.
3rd Porter, Russell & Palm’s Bogdogs Brynnyth at Winsbrook.
Retriever (Flat Coated)
Puppy (3, 0 abs)
1st Lewis’ Fairwinds Blooming Wild. BP. RBOB. PG1.
Feminine, balanced and very promising. Wonderful to watch on the move, this took her all the way to PG1. Easy free stride, level and true, kept her top line all the time and carried her tail well. Well shaped head, flattish skull, plenty of work in foreface, good length of muzzle, used her ears well. Clean neck of good length, very good angle of shoulder, stifle with equal merit. Straight legs, good bone, neat feet. Shiny black coat in beautiful condition, very well handled.
2nd Thurgood’s Thurwhitt Lyra Belacqua.
Very well presented and handled, excelled in length of rib, firm top line and tail set. Longish head, well moulded, strong muzzle, ideal length of neck, adequate width of chest. Would have preferred straighter front legs and tidier front movement today but straight going away, happy with enthusiastic tail action.
3rd Chant’s Llantruss Port Charlotte.
Special Yearling (3, 0 abs)
1st Cooves’ Benvellyn Nyanga at Draketor.
Appealed for balance and free flowing level movement. Broadish skull which could have been flatter, intelligent and friendly expression, strong muzzle. Impressive front assembly, good layback of shoulder and return of upper arm which placed forelegs well under body, good quality bone, well padded round feet. Deep chest, excellent rib cage, nice bend of stifle, strong back end. Shiny black coat in very good condition, expertly handled.
2nd McCammick’s Montegrino Pied Piper for Saffdales.
Liked balance of length of body to height, fit and well muscled all through. Appealing head, skull and muzzle match beautifully, lovely expression, keen to please. Neck lacked flow through withers and she carried her head rather high on the move, ribcage could be longer but she had impressive hindquarters with good width of thigh and just the right amount of bend of stifle, straight from behind and moved away well with happily wagging tail. Well presented black coat, sympathetically handled.
3rd Chant’s Llantruss Port Charlotte.
Post Graduate (2, 0 abs)
1st Legg’s Ruddleberry Pheonix Song.
Balanced outline, well laid back shoulders with blade of good length, return of upper arms placed forelegs well under body, quality bone and tight round feet. Good length, depth and spring of rib cage, short loin, muscular hindquarters, pleasing width across thigh and useful turn of stifle. Handler please watch because sometimes she can stand with a pronounced dip behind her withers. Did enough to win two classes, but lost out in the challenge for BOB and RBOB because she was carrying just a little too much weight for me.
2nd McCammick’s M Pied Piper for S.
Limit (3, 0 abs)
1st Legg’s R Pheonix Song.

Excellent ribcage, well ribbed back and nicely sprung, good depth of body, straight from behind, strong bone. Stood foursquare, felt good to go over, well presented and handled.

Well up to size, nicely put together, great jaunty attitude. Loved his wedge shaped head, broad skull, strong muzzle, alert expression from medium sized eye. Well constructed shoulders and return of upper arm, deep through brisket, straight front, good bone. Short back, level top line, pleasing spring and depth of rib, slight tuck up. Strong hind quarters with plenty of width across thigh and nice bend of stifle. Tail well set on and carried above level of back.
2nd Burchell’s Flavour Of Tokaj Aszu Suchy Las Vegas to Tivalake (imp POL).
Feminine, pretty, built on a smaller frame, enough bone and substance for a female, straight legs all round, tight feet. Clean cut head, kind and intelligent expression, used her ears well, attentive to handler. Well set on neck, balanced angulation, level top line, well sprung ribs. Active mover, well muscled throughout.

Sweet and gentle expression from almond shaped eye, feminine head well set onto clean neck. Impressive lay of shoulder, elbows close to body, deep chest, adequate bone. Well sprung ribs, good length of rib cage, strong backend, hocks well let down. Level mover, active and keen to please. She sometimes tended to stand with a slight dip behind her withers today.

Open (7, 2 abs)
1st Ryder’s Arthundur Dream Come True at Finnkova. RBOB.
Balanced outline, lovely angulation fore and aft, pleasing body properties, deep through brisket, short back, level top line. Wedge shaped masculine head, triangular shaped ears, muscular front assembly and strong backend, good width across thigh, good bone, tight feet. Correct double coat, beautifully presented, expertly handled. Couldn’t quite get past the BOB winner because today I just preferred the straighter legs of SY winner.
2nd Hughes’ Sh Ch Eusanit Gem Stone at Abacot.
Liked her level movement with true footfall, appealing head, balanced properties all through, but unfortunately her coat let her down today. Friendly expression from almond shaped eyes, well set on ears, gently tapering muzzle. Adequate bone and good width of thigh, straight from behind. Well schooled and beautifully handled.
3rd Hipkiss’ Afonbach First Sign O’Spring at Deltandamba JW.

2nd Bedford’s Crumbledor Cedric Diggory. Sussex Spaniel.
Strong appearance, good bone, big knuckles, big round feet. Excellent front assembly with very good layback of shoulder and return of upper arm, evident breastbone. Strong level body. At 17 months of age he has time to deepen through brisket. Head displayed typical frowns, moderate curve of skull from ear to ear, obvious stop, hazel coloured eyes which were clear, but today were showing slightly too much haw. Handler please watch when stacking because sometimes he looked out at elbow from the front. Active movement with decided roll and true footfall.
