Thank you to the club for this appointment which I really enjoyed judging, and to the stewards who kept everything running smoothly. Thanks to those that entered under me, I was very pleased with my entries.

SUSSEX SPANIELS

Puppy 2

1st Penneman & Wakefield NORISS NORTHERN DETECTIVE Best Puppy

Near 12 month old male who was looking the maturer of the two exhibits and was typical of the breed in stature. He had a good head, balanced with good eye colour and well feathered ears. Good proportions in body with good depth and strong over loin. Good bone and neat feat. Kept his top line whilst on the move.

2nd Wakefield UNA DES TERRES DE BEAULIEU (Imp Fra) Young bitch of just 8 months who was playing up a little in the ring making herself difficult to assess. Would like to see her when she matures a little. 

Junior 4

1st Hipgrave LORD OF THE GLITTERING CAVES Best of Breed. 17 month old male, solid looking, with good coat colour. Balanced head with moderate curve to skull with a pronounced stop. Nice expression to head, good mouth. Good proportions to front and rear and deep in ribs and strong over loin with good width. Had a good ring presence and tail was ever wagging, enjoying his day. He moved better second time round to clinch his BOB.

2nd Short & Bull BAKERSCROFT BECKLEY BELLE. Lively 14 month old bitch who when shown made the best of herself and moved round the ring very positively. Preferred length of muzzle on winner. Good feathering to legs, decent tail set, coat colour and feet.

3rd Penneman & Wakefield NORISS NORTHERN DETECTIVE

Post Graduate 2

1st Hawkins HARASTEORRA BETELGEUSE These two dogs were up to breed standard size. This 2 year old dog for me was more typical of the breed to second. Preferred his coat colour and feathering to second. Balanced in head and good eye colour and ear set. Sometimes not so level in top line in his movement.

2nd Allen-Line DECKHAM AMBER SUNRISE 3 year old bitch who in profile was not so balanced in length of body to winner. Well angulated front, good tail set and good width over hindquarters.

1st Davey SH CH EALD VILLAGE SCANDAL Res Best of Breed 6 year old bitch who one can see why it is a show champion. Typical balanced head with lovely frown, good in profile, strong in neck and good angulation to front, balancing out at rear. Good depth from lion and width over hindquarters. Of good bone. Good tail set with happy tail action. 

2nd Penneman & Wakefield NED/LUX/BEL SH CH EALD VILLAGE TEMPRESS FOR NORRISS Another quality exhibit, bitch of six years. Also had good balance to head and moderate curve. Was also good over hide-quarters, having good strength and width. Movement won her placing over third placed dog.

Puppy 9 (3)

1st Magson CASTLEGOLDEN CLASSY GIRL Best Puppy RBOB. 10 month old bitch who I was quite taken with. She portrayed a very balanced picture in profile. She had a sweet head which was balanced with good pigment and eye colour. Clean in neck which was well set with good front angulation, legs well under body. Good bend of stifle to rear with good width to thigh. Well boned. Moved out well. Pleased to see her make the cut in a strong gundog group.

2nd Falconer CHEEK TO CHEEK UNBRIDLED DREAMS FOR SIATHAM (Imp Fra). At first glance thought that this 8 month old feminine bitch was my winner. Lost out as preferred winners quality of bone and length of neck. Also moved out well. Neat feat and good tail set.

3rd Taylor & Tenn STRETTONHILL’S DAFFODIL

Junior 5

1st Magson CASTLEGOLDEN CLASSY GIRL. as per puppy class.

2nd Parry MITCHARRON SERENS LEGACY. 4th in the puppy class, this 8 month old was well up to size and would not like to see him grow on further. Still has to come together more and when behaving does reflect a lovely outline. He had a good strong neck into good front which won over 3rd placed dog. Decent bend of stifle and tail carriage. Moved out fine.

3rd Walker & Roberts LAMANCHA TRUST YOUR HEART WITH GLOI

Post Grad 10 (2)

1st Millingtons GOLMAS GUARD OF HONOUR AT JARABEES JW. Best of Breed. Two plus year old, well matured dog who in profile had a lot to like about him. He had a masculine but not overdone head with good balance and pigmentation. Strong neck into well placed shoulders, well off for bone on good legs with close fitting elbows. Level top line leading onto well set tail. Good spring of rib, depth to body and with good width to thighs. Held his top line on the move. Another who made the cut in a strong gundog group.

2nd Liggins & Hodges SILVER PASSION GLAM FASSION AT NUNSBROOK JW (imp Deu). Another nice dog of similar age to winner and also a lot to like about him. Just lost out as preferred rear angulation of 1 and tail set.

3rd Walker & Roberts LAMANCHA TRUST YOUR HEART WITH GLOI

Limit 3 (1 Ab 1WD)

1st Bufton & Riley PHOSLAS POLLY FLINDERS. 3 year old bitch although standing alone was a worthy winner in this class. Very feminine in head, with good pigment, pleasing expression. Happy disposition. Good substance and bone with straight front, also straight when viewed from the rear. Preferred movement of winners in the challenge.

 Open 6 (1 Ab 1 WD)

1st Loverock PUTJADE PEAKY BLINDER AT LOVISSA. Mature dog of nearly seven years old. Close decision between first and second. This dog was well off for bone and had a good balance overall. Decent front with balance to rear end. Good width to thigh and bend of stifle. Set on good straight legs with good feet. Head was broad in skull with good depth to muzzle. In good coat.

2nd Falconer SONEVE SIMPLY SPECIAL FOR SIATHAM JW. Feminine bitch of 2 plus years. Similar remarks apply as to winner. Very happy showgirl and lovely to see how happy she is in the ring. Unlucky to meet winner on this occasion.

3rd Millingtons CARNEVAL OF GOLDEN DUCK- COBEY AT JARABEES VW (Imp Srb)
