Ashton In Makerfield Canine Society

My sincere thanks to the Committee for their invitation to Judge here today. Thank you to my stewards who were absolutely fantastic and kept things running smoothly.

I was very pleased with the overall quality of my entry and had the pleasure to judge such a fabulous group, I could have easily filled another four places, thanks to all the exhibitors for affording me the privilege of judging their lovely dogs.

GUNDOG GROUP

Gr1; Sielski; ORCHIDSTAR MISSING LINK JW (GSP) fought hard to win this quality filled group, moderate, well-balanced bitch that covered her ground, both stacked and on the move, shown in excellent hard condition.

Gr2; Isherwood; GUNALT SCHWEPPES AT CALEYDENE JW (Weimaraner) I have judged this dog before and today he looked and moved on top form, just coming into his own and another shown in excellent hard condition.

Gr3; Philipson; MENSTONIA METEOR (Welsh Springer) knew his job and never put a foot wrong to earn his place in my final line up.

Gr4; Tobin & Moss DAVIGDOR POPPIES (Pointer) lovely type and quality, she is just starting to mature, loved her outline and graceful curves, moved with drive and used her tail well.

GUNDOG PUPPY GROUP

Gr1; Eisen; KERRIGLOW BLACK DOVE (Cocker) very sweet feminine bitch, lovely head and compact body, well presented she moved with drive and covered her ground well.

Gr2; Wagh; DEWDHALA SEMPRE AGNESE (Spinone) still a raw baby with lots of maturing to do, gave her handler a struggle to stack, but absolutely loved her on the move, so balanced and together, very promising puppy.

Gr3; Longbottom; GUNALT BEEHAVE (Weimaraner) promising quality puppy that is just starting to come together, shown in excellent condition and moved well for his age.

Gr4; McCullough; BEECHILLAWN BED OF ROSES AT KIMMAX (GWP) this young bitch filled my last spot, shown in fabulous condition, she has a balanced outline that she held on the move, I’m sure she has a promising future ahead.

GOLDEN RETRIEVER

Puppy

1; Parry; Mitcharron Seren’s Legacy, mature puppy, liked his head and dark pigment, well balanced dog with correct coat, good bone and feet, moved well to take this class BP

2; Falconer; Cheek to Cheek Unbridled Dreams for Siatham, nicely put together, feminine head and expression, good bone and feet, not as positive on the move as my winner, needs to tight up.

3; Scott & Briggs; Largymore Ravagier

Special Yearling

1; Gannaway-Jones; Siwrengale Sails Into Scarisbrick, lovely young bitch, liked her head and expression, well balanced body with good bone and feet, shown in excellent condition with correct coat, moved straight and true with drive, finished off with great tail carriage. BOB

2; Phillips; Shebelta Sweet Soul Music JW, a little heavy in head but well off for bone and shown in good condition and with correct coat, moved well but not the tail carriage of my winner.

3; Reid; Sybiton Ginger Nut

Limit

1; Millington; Golmas Guard Of Honour at Jarabees JW, mature dog, nice head and expression, well balanced with correct coat and bone, moved a bit close and lacked the drive of my other winners.

1; Scott & Briggs; Largymore Luigi, mature dog with a lovely balanced outline, shown in full coat with good bone and feet, liked his head and expression, moved well but not the tail carriage of my BOB

2; Millington; Carneval of Golden Duck-Corbey at Jarabees VW, veteran dog and giving his age away to the winner, loved his kind expression, well balanced with good coat and shown in good condition, just lacked the drive on the move.

FLAT COATED RETRIEVER

Special Yearling

1; Hewison; Benvellyn Marakele Into Casblaidd, lovely young bitch, good head and expression, correct bone and strong feet, quality coat but needs time for full furnishings, moved well with her nonstop tail to take the win and BOB over a more mature dog.

Limit

1; Hewison; Benvellyn Marakele Into Casblaidd

2; Breen; Skyloch Say It Like It Is, mature male in full coat, well balanced with good bone and strong feet, not as good on the move as my winner.

ENGLISH SETTER

Special yearling

1; Miler; Ravensett Calvaro, promising young dog, liked his head and kind expression, good length of neck and spring of rib, good bone and tight feet, in good coat and condition, moved straight with powerful drive form the rear. BOB

Limit

1; Smith; Gold Mercury Beauty Style Of Meadowrush, feminine bitch with a kind expression, good body and bone for her size, shown in good condition and moved well with good tail carriage, just not the same drive as my yearling winner.

Open

1; Smith; Bournehouse Secret Sunset of Meadowrush, Mature male in full coat and furnishings, he has a lovely expression but a little overdone in head for me, good body and bone he presents a balanced picture both standing and on the move.

GORDON SETTER

Puppy

1; Speed; Ronaldsbill Magic Stars, very raw young bitch, liked her head and expression, everything is in the correct place with good bone and well arched feet, moved well but need time to tighten up and power from behind. BP

2; Garbett; Gailiech Beverleydottir, another raw baby, but to be expected in this breed, heavier in head with ample bone and good body, not as true in movement and needing to tighten up.

Special Yearling

1; Fudge; Fieldberry Secret Weapon at Rufusmoor JW, upstanding young dog just starting to come into his own, good head and intelligent expression, lean neck that flowed into his topline, good bone and depth of brisket, shown in good coat and condition, moved well with plenty of drive. BOB

3; Donovan; Tighnabo Sgalpaigh

Limit

1; Garbett; Langstrumpf Hochsummer, feminine bitch, nice head and expression, good body and bone for her size, mature coat and furnishings, moved well with a good tail carriage, just not the drive of my limit winner.

NOVA SCOTIA DUCK TOLLING RETRIEVER

Puppy

1; Golding; Whenova Pampero, promising young bitch, liked her head and expression, good body and bone, good coat and condition, still needs to tighten throughout and settle on the move but has an active trot, BP

2; Heaton; Whenova Chinnock, litter brother to my winner but very raw at the moment, lots to like and similar comments apply, but will need time to develop and come together especially on the move.

3; Peat & Fox; Tollisty Ginger Chai

Special Yearling

1; Adshead; Afonbach Syrax JW feminine compact young bitch, I liked her for type and size, good head with alert expression, strong neck into well laid shoulder, good depth of chest and spring of rib, well-muscled hindquarters, correct undercoat & well feathered, lively mover covering her ground well, pleased to award her BOB

Limit

1; Trueman; Cretshengan Lake Itasca, lots to like on this dog, nice head and alert expression, strong neck, good body and topline, well sprung ribs finished with a full coat and shown in good condition, moved well, but lacked the sparkle of my BOB winner.

2; Knowles & Copeland; Eusanit It’ll Be Reet at Menstonia, another very nice dog and lots to like, balanced both standing and on the move, bigger in frame than my winner and just preferred the head on 1

3; Brand; Coedhelyg Jingle All The Way

Open

1; Adshead; Afonbach Winter Is Coming JW mature dog with no coarseness, good head with alert expressive eye, strong neck, well laid shoulders, good bone and feet, strong topline and correctly set on tail, correct coat and undercoat, moved well as he drove round the ring.

2; Copeland; Camusmor Bring Me Sunshine to Menstonia, another nice mature dog, similar remarks as above, shown in excellent condition with a full coat just didn’t move with the same enthusiasm as the winner.

3; Trueman; Croftwell Tickety Boo

SPANISH WATER DOG

Limit

1; Kehoe; Delimore Varpu at Aguamarina, stood alone today but a quality young dog, a little overwhelmed in the ring but full of promise, lovely head and expressive eye, good body and bone and in good hard condition, correct coat and moved with purpose and drive, BOB and shortlisted in a strong group.

IRISH WATER SPANIEL

Special Yearling

1; Davies & Margerison; Foulby The Dark Knight at Kandrelli, promising young dog, good head and expression, flowed nicely from neck into shoulders, good body and correct coat, well boned with large feet, moved well when he settled.

2; Williamson; Finchsmill Secret Surprise, feminine young bitch, with tight coat, good spring of rib, good bone, not as good on the move lacked the drive of my winner.

Limit

1; Bannister; Ta An Neifinn at Banysun, lots to like, she is well balanced both standing and on the move, feminine head and expression, good bone and well sprung ribs, correct coat and shown in excellent condition, she moved out well covering the ground with reach and drive carrying her tail well, BOB

SUSSEX SPANIEL

Puppy

1; Wakefield; Una Des Terres De Beaulieu, promising puppy with lots to like. She has a good head with a pronounced stop and kind expression, slightly arched neck leading to well laid shoulders, good length of ribcage and strong hindquarters and has plenty of bone, good coat for her age and well presented, unsettled on the moved but looked better in profile, loved her happy tail action, BP.

Special Yearling

1; Penneman & Wakefield; Norriss Northern Detective, young dog with masculine head of good proportions, defined stop and dark hazel eyes. Strong slightly arched neck set into well placed shoulders, elbows tucked in, ribcage of good length, muscled hindquarters and has lovely boned legs. Moved out well holding topline at all times.

2; Davey; Eald Stands with Fist, young bitch with a good head and feminine expression, good neck into shoulders and good coat, just needs to mature in body, moved well when she settled down.

1; Davey; Sh Ch Eald Village Scandal JW lovely mature bitch, good head with pronounced stop and strong arched neck, good level topline and strong hind quarters, correct coat and good muscular condition, she moved very true and loved her happy tail action. BOB

2; Ashcroft; Varya Velikolepnaya Iz Valley Wins At Torshca, nice bitch, good head and expression and with good bone, not the same coat or condition of the winner and not as positive on the move.

AVNSC GUNDOG

Puppy

1; Tilston; Maursett Menelaus (Clumber) promising baby, lots to like, nice square head, good length of neck and body, well sprung ribs, good bone and feet, moved well in profile with drive and held his tail correctly BP

Special Yearling

1; Malin; Kenzduo Deeply Dallas (Vizsla) big dog, nice head and expression, well balanced, shown in excellent coat and condition, good bone and feet, moved out with drive, nice outline but spoilt by high tail carriage.

2; Hardcastle & Bradley; Castledogley Firenze Jw (Vizsla) smaller feminine bitch, lovely noble head and expression, clean neck and body, well sprung ribs and shown in excellent condition, unfortunately she didn’t look very happy today and this reflected in her movement.

Limit

1; Adams; Vizash Elenik At Jamzco (Vizsla) nice young bitch, nice head and expression, clean neck, well sprung rib cage, good bone, feet could be a bit tighter, but moved well to take the class.

2; Tilston; Stonielea Toast (Clumber) heavy square head with well developed flews, strong neck into straight back and well-muscled body, good bone and feet, moved soundly but lacked the powerful drive from his hindquarters.

1; Philipson; Menstonia Meteor (Welsh Springer) really liked this mature dog, nothing over-done, just a very nice well-balanced dog both standing and on the move, shown in very hard muscular condition which showed when he drove around the ring, used his tail well too. BAV and Group 3

AV IMPORT GUNDOG

1; McCullough; Fidelix Special Edition at Kimmax (Korthals Griffon) nice young male just starting to mature, good head with an intelligent expression, clean neck, good lay of shoulder and slight spring of ribs, strong topline, well-muscled hindquarters, correct harsh coat and furnishings. Moved with drive and finished with correct tail carriage. BIR

AV GUNDOG VETERAN

1; Cunliffe; Ir Sh Ch Calvdale I Say Of Fallenleaf CJw18 CW18 CENT’W (ESS) beautiful feminine head and expression, balanced throughout with good bone and shown in tiptop condition, moved well to take this hotly contested class, a worthy champion.

2; Sanderson; Sh Ch Owlspoint Trouble At Mill ShCM ShCEx VW BWNL’18 (Bracco) another worthy of his title, balanced outline with good spring of rib, good angulation and shown in excellent hard condition, he really excelled on the move with strong driving action.

3; Nelis; Freebreeze Easy Virtue (Pointer)
