Newark & District Canine Society

Thank you to the society for the invite to judge and to the exhibitors for their entries and accepting my decisions so graciously.

I would like to remind exhibitors that dog shows are a beauty contest, don’t bring a dirty dog to the show, there is a huge difference between a weather resistant coat and dirt.

Labrador retrievers

PUPPY D/B (13/6)

1st- Woodleys – ALKHAMHURST LONDON GIRL- 10mth black bitch, pleasing feminine head with kinhd expression, darkest of eye, well set and used ears, good angulation front & rear standing with legs well under the body. Excellent bone & feet. Good depth to chest for her age, good topline on the stand but could be firmer on the move which will come with age, correct tail set and carriage, nice side profile movement with decent reach & drive. BPIB, RBOB

2ND- Shirtons – WOOLMAN WISH APON A STAR- this girls has a lot of similar qualities to 1 in a lot of ways, just felt her topline could have been better.

3RD – Rowleys- TREANTAGH ALESSIA.

JUNIOR D/B(10/5)

1ST- Lapper’s – TOMATIVE ANNABELLE – 14mth black bitch, this girl excels in type and balance, feminine head with the sweetest of expression, dark eye, correct bite and good dentition, good head proportions with well set ears, used to her advantage, strong powerful neck into well laid shoulders, standing with elbows right under her body, good forechest and depth to chest. Strongest of toplines with tail straight of the back, good rear angulations, excellent muscle development and effortless gait. Easy to she this lady could work all day. My best of breed and was pleased to see her go on and win the gundog group. BOB.

2ND – Rowe’s – CENTENALEE ANGELIC AT ROCHEBY – a lot to like about this girl and in side profile there is a lot of similar features to 1. But on the day I felt this girl didn’t just have the balance of the winner. I would have preferred slightly more forechest on her, excellent side gait with strong topline, set of tail was good but would like slightly better carriage.

3RD – Young’s – POTTERSPINEY YENNEFER

NOVA SCOTIA DUCK TOLLING RETRIEVER

PUPPY D/B (4/2)

10 mth old Litter mates which is easy to see from their type and quality two lovely youngsters just in difficult growth stage on the day.

1ST Smith’s – TOLLISTY RAUDR – I would prefer to see this boy a little lighter in weight. He is super confident and happy loving his time in the ring, pleasing head with enough stop giving that typical toller head. Excellent eye shape of good good, excellent pigment. Nice trianglar ears of good size. Good neck and good angulation front and rear. Nice bone and good feet. Strong topline, moved well. BPIB

2ND – Peat & Fox’s – TOLLISTY GINGER CHAI – a lot of similar features to her litter mate unfortunately her topline today is what let her down to steal the top spot, at this stage she was rising over the loin which in turns throws the topline out on the move.

JUNIOR D/B (4/2)

1ST Smith’s – TOLLISTY RAUDR

2ND – Peat & Fox’s – TOLLISTY GINGER CHAI

OPEN D/B (2/1)

1ST Strevens – SH CH TOLLELKIN CAIFE GAELECH AT TOLLISTY – from looking at the catalogue I see this lady is the mother to the puppies, and the type shines through. Pleasing feminine head, enough stop, wide set eyes of good shape and colour, excellent pigment, correct bite. Good for neck and decednt angulation front and rear, I would just prefer slight better length of forearm and it threw her front movement off on side profile. Good for bone and stood on good feet strong topline and correct tail set. RBOB
