Burton on Trent KA Open Show 8th December 2024

Many thanks to the Officers & Committee for the kind invitation to judge and many thanks to the exhibitors who braved the atrocious weather conditions to attend the Show. As expected the entry was depleted due to the weather.

Bernese Mountain Dogs.

JR (2:1) 1st. Wood’s OSKEVABERN HELLRAISER.

Well balanced girl who stands well on round compact feet. She has a feminine head with attractive markings, defined Stop, dark eye and scissor bite. She is sturdy with good depth of brisket and well ribbed back, well boned, straight Forelegs, muscular HQ’s and strong Hocks. She moved well particularly in profile. BOB

PG (4:3) 1st. Watson’s STEPDASHAR MAGICAL WISH.

A compact and sturdy female with good head proportions. She has a broad chest of a good depth, good length of ribcage and level topline. Carrying a little too much weight for me. She was very exuberant on the move giving her Handler a hard time.

O (5:4) 1st. Watson’s STEPDASHAR WINTERS WISH.

8 Year old female with good bone and a balanced compact shape. She has a strong head with defined stop and correct bite. Straight forelegs with broad chest, level back and well ribbed back. Muscular hindquarters but she would benefit with standing truer behind. Not as true in movement as the BOB Winner. Res BOB.

Tibetan Mastiff.

JR. (1:0) 1st. Lowes & Jackson’s CALLOWDALE DRUMMER BOY.

12 Month old black male . He is masculine with a broad head and a defined occiput, a broad muzzle, dark expressive eyes and excellent bite. Although only a youngster he is well developed in body with good depth of chest and oval ribcage which extends well back. He looks impressive when stacked and moves freely keeping his outline on the moved. A very promising puppy. BPIB.

 O. (4:2) 1st. Lowes CH. POWER OF LOVE FROM GOM KHYI AT CALLOWDALE (IMP POL)

23 Month old black & tan female with a beautiful balanced outline. She has strong bone and stands true on large round feet. Her head has attractive markings and is broad with a correct muzzle to occiput ratio with expressive eyes, square muzzle and scissor bite. She has a level back, good depth of chest, well sprung ribcage, straight forelegs, muscular HQ’s and low set hocks. Her movement is sound, free and purposeful. Very close decision between 1 & 2 but delighted to award her BOB.

2nd Lowes CH. WANGDAK FORREST FOR CALLOWDALE.

2 Year old black & tan with the most impressive masculine head. Well balanced with a defined occiput, well filled muzzle and strong jaw. He has strong bone with well sprung ribs, good depth of brisket, muscular HQ’s with moderate angulation. His coat is dense and straight with good feathering on tail and legs and carries a heavy mane over shoulders. His movement is powerful and easy . A quality dog.
