Birtley and District Canine Society, Open Show 13/4/2024

 A friendly well run show which had attracted a decent entry. My hard-working steward was kept very busy! I was very impressed with the quality of the dogs exhibited. Thanks to all of the exhibitors for your sportsmanship and good manners, it made a most enjoyable day.

1 Kanietter Kocoa. BOB. Nicely proportioned head with some depth of muzzle and a dark, expressive eye. Decent neck and shoulders. Very good rib and body. Moved soundly but could have a shade more drive.

1 Valger Tennessee. BOB, Best Puppy and Puppy Group 2. Ultra smart with a clean head, kind expression, good open nostrils. Pleasing forehand, good depth of rib and brisket, slight rise over the loin. Particularly impressive hind action and this gave him the edge today.

2 Valger Tiggywinkle. Litter sister to the winner and not quite as forward as yet. Beautifully balanced, feminine head, well boded with some strength over the loin. Moved soundly.

2 Amblairfield Lylmaamlewan. Attractive head and expression. Good neck and shoulders. Well bodied and well ribbed up. Moved well but not quite the power of the younger dog.

1 Vizash Heiress of Caorunn. Just a few days away from his first birthday and he impressed me on the move and for his good type and masculine, athletic outline. Grand head, good breadth and depth of chest. Moderately angulated, strong hindquarters. Moved well.

2 Fairwayview Red Squirrel. Well balanced, gentle kind expression. Clean, moderate neck and well ribbed body.

1 Sh Ch Recuerdo Monika of Caorunn. BOB.Hard to believe that she is very nearly 8 years of age. Robustly made yet with some elegance. Good skull and eye, open nostrils. Clean neck and shoulders. Adequate depth and breadth of chest and good spring of rib. Strong, moderately angulated hindquarters.

1 Coolfin Aoife of Foreverknox. Good skull, clean dark eye. Muscular neck and well laid shoulders. Well ribbed with good bone and very pleasing hind action.

1 Sh Ch Talintyre Winter Shadow. BOB & Group 2. Has lots of quality and is beautifully balanced. Masculine and powerful with a grand head and very kind expression. Well ribbed. Good bone, legs and feet. Sound and free moving.

1 Scokira Emerald Dream. BOB. Two very typical litter sisters. Both have attractive heads and expressions. Good depth of chest with ribs carried well back. Blth need a little more practice in an indoor ring but Dream was just a tad more settled on the move. Both had some drive going away from me.

1 Granaio Dei Malatesta Valeria Velez of Pendlebrier (imp Italy). Best Puppy. Square outline with decent breadth of skull, strong jaws. Pleasing expression. Impressed on the move with a free, positive action. Dense, curly coat.

1 Granaio Dei Malatesta Dick Dastardly of Pendlebrier (imp Italy). BOB. A good moving dog who had some drive from the rear. Good head proportions. Moderate, arched neck. Decent depth of chest.

1 Piasharn Rocka Rolla. A smart, well-made dog who showed to best advantage. Attractive head and expression, clean neck and shoulders, good depth of brisket. Particularly good hind action.

2 Piasharn Breaking The Law. Litter sister to the winner and not quite his assurance on the move. Pleasing head, good body with pleasing spring of rib and nicely angulated hindquarters.

3 Joneva Just Struck Gold with Fleurfield. Best Puppy.

1 Piasharn Garrick. BOB. Strong and masculine but not overdone. Presets a nicely curved outline, clean long neck, good forehand. Well ribbed and very steady and typical on the move.

2 Flinthill Hot Shot. Very typical with the most pleasing head and expression. Well laid shoulders, good depth of brisket and pleasing body. Good hind action just a shade untidy coming back to me.

1 Firecurl Excalibur. Best Puppy. A well grown, handsome youngster, good head planes and pleasing eye. Kind expression. Ribbed well back with good depth of chest. Good coat. Moved well with an easy action.

2 Crimblescurl Dancing Queen. Very typical and feminine. Good head proportions with parallel planes. Deep brisket. Good topline and tailset.

1 Rowancurl Pullman Porter. Masculine with a pleasing head, failry large, well set eyes which could be darker for perfection. Excellent body and ribbing. Moved soundly and shown in first class coat.

2 Crimblescurl Wildotter. Feminine with a lovely gentle expression and temperament to match. Well ribbed with some strength over the loins. Free moving but could have a tad more drive. Rather in-between coats today.

1 Crimblescurl Cherry. BOB. Mature and presents a very pleasing overall picture ass she is well balanced and shows to good advantage. Good breadth and depth of chest, Well ribbed with strong topline. Free moving and sound.

1 Benvellyn Marakele into Casblaidd. I gather she won her JW today, well done. Scored here in maturity of body and rib. Very typical with a pleasing head of good length. Clean, lengthy neck, good breadth and depth of chest. Moved out very well with an easy stride.

2 Hightyne Guns and Roses. Best Puppy & Gundog Puppy Group 3. A nicely made youngster who was giving away a lot in maturity here. Nicely balanced, good head, dark intelligent eye and good nostrils. Absolutely sound both out and back and her temperaments was delightful.

1 Hightyne When I Fall in Love. BOB. Smart, well balanced and masculine, very good rib and strong short loin. Grand head and expression. Strong hindquarters. Very pleasing on the move.

1 Moloko Ow Do. Best Puppy. An attractive, really well blanced bitch with good length of leg, pleasing head with kind expression, good depth of rib and body. A little startled by the rather loud tannoy announcement but she quickly recovered her composure and put on a good show when on the move.

2 Jasrolyn Doe Ray Me Among Wylloh. Mature for age with a really pleasing head and expression. Good forehand. Nicely angulated hindquarters. Jiust a shade close going away from me.

1 Lamancha Take A Chance. Two high quality litter brothers, both shown in excellent coat and condition. Very similar in that they are both nicely balanced and have kind, masculine heads and expressions. I felt the winner was fractionally shorter coupled than Time Traveller although he did move with a little more drive than Chance.

2 Kaylish Ivy The Butterfly. A sweet bitch with a pleasing head and gentle expression. Good forehand, well boned with pleasing feet. Moves ok.

1 Lamancha Question The Truth. BOB. Well balanced and very typical, pleasing head with good pigmentation. Good depth of rib. Excellent topline and tailset. Her very good driving action just gave her the edge today.

2 Baricia Bella Donna JW. Lovely type and she presents a most pleasing picture both on the move and standing. Good forehand with decent bone and good feet. Short cou0pled and well ribbed. In excellent form.

1 Danehaven Nouvel. Nicely balanced and she was I thought the most typical in this class. Kind expression, moderate stop. Good body with strong loin. Moved soundly both out and back.

2 Tollisty Ginger Chai. A well balanced and sound moving bitch. Clean neck and good shoulders. Stronbg, well ribbed body.

1 Goldstar Struttin Her Daisy Dukes (Imp USA). BOB. Soundly made and attractive and she really does show to best advantage. Wedge shaped, broad skull. Good depth of chest. Well coated and she moved out well with some reach and drive.

1 Creeaark Austin Healey from Chabrouille. A handsome, soundly made dog of good type. Good sized head, clean eye and good muzzle. Good neck and shoulders, well boned with large, well padded feet. An effortless, easy mover.

1 Wymeswold Verdejo at Greencourt (Imp NLD). Feminine and nicely balanced. Attractive head and expression with clean eye. Strong powerful body with good ribs which extend well back. Silky coat with lovely pale lemon markings. Moved soundly but not the enthusiasm of the younger dog.

1 Heartwood Mishules All Is Possible with Calico. Best Puppy. A very attractive black and tan. Well proportioned head with some chiselling. Good length of neck and flat bone with nicely padded feet. Flat silky coat. Excellent temperament.

1 Broomece Fire Cracker Over Mishules. Black with a pleasing, masculine head, clean eye, well defined occiput. Good forehand with tight, well padded feet. Good depth of chest and firm topline. Moved well.

1 Finchsmill Secret Surprise. Workmanlike with a good head, intelligent eye and strong muzzle. Deep chest and good spring of rib. Ribs extend well back. Rather in-between coats today but moved out well.

1 Sh Ch Curlyco My Hot Rockstar. BOB and Gundog Group 3. Oozes with quality, masculine with a dense, crisp coat which is presented to best advantage. Nicely arched neck and good shoulders. Very well ribbed and deep broad loins. Well angulated and moved freely with both reach and drive.

1 Crumbledor Rita Skeetar. Best Puppy. A promising youngster with a well-proportioned, typical head. Good forehand, well boned with nicely padded feet. Very good body and ribbing for age. Sound and quite typical on the move.

1 Sh Ch Gainsmill Lilly Luna Potter at Crumbledor. BOB and the winner of the Gundog Group. Dam of the puppy and I thought she was rather lovely. Very unexaggerated with a grand head and kind expression. Strong neck, deep chest and good length of rib and these extend well back. Strong hindquarters. Excellent coat and colour. Moved soundly with a very typical action.

1 Rainethyme Ever So Special. Best Puppy. Presents a good outline as he is well proportioned with some height at the withers. Good head planes. Decent depth of chest. Moderately angulated. Very good profile action.

2 Sierrasalvas Calabaza. Quite typical and shown in good coat. Pleasing head. Not quite the muscle tone of the winner and this made her look a little soft in topline. Moved well.

1 Sh Ch Kurlibears September Aurora. BOB. In my notes I wrote CC quality, very pleasing head and expression, good open nostrils. Moderate, clean neck. Solidly made and very well ribbed with good depth of chest. Excellent coat. Free moving with a brisk, easy action.

1 Kalimor Washington at Robricci. A well grown, mature youngster, well-proportioned head, kind expression. Deep chest and good ribbing. Good hindquarters. Moved well with an easy stride.

2 Trapaleba Dior. Best Puppy. Giving away a lot in age here but she is attractive and feminine with a pleasing head. Good forehand, lovely compact, well-padded feet. Well ribbed with level topline. Moved soundly.

2 Mabanika Omega. Another good mover, feminine expression, good forehand. Firm topline and moderately angulated, strong hindquarters.

1 Calvdale With Respect. Spaniel (English Springer). A grand youngster with all the attributes one would hope to find at this age. Masculine but no trace of coarseness. Absolutely typical on the move and he shows to best advantage. A really good prospect I would think.

1 Kimapa Kickit Kiantu. I confess to having a soft spot for a tricolour Cocker and this bitch is so typical, merry and sturdy with a pretty head and expression. Sound and unexaggerated.

2 Illeyhall Una at Peersbrook. This lovely Golden Retriever was over 10 years of age and still has an air of quality about her. Attactive head and kind expression. Clear, dark eyes. Well made all through and showed to good advantage. In great condition.
