Jack Russell Terrier
PD/B (2,1)
1. Wallington’s Thornywait Call My Bluff. 11 mth rough coated dog. Would like to see a tad more length of leg on this youngster but he showed himself off with attitude. Strong neck, topline needs to firm a tad, tail set on high. Balanced headpiece with almond-shaped eyes and scissor bite. Pleasing forechest and stands on good feet. Moving pretty well all through. Best Puppy & Reserve BOB.
JD/B (1,0)
1. Kinchin’s Kulawand Mini’s Mischief. 16 mth smooth coated bitch. Quite raw and therefore needs more time and a little more ring experience would be beneficial. Good length of neck, ribbed well back, straight back but falls off at croup. Feminine head with good eye for shape and colour and scissor bite. She stands straight in front but a tad wider and this also reflects on move. Moves well when going away. Stands on good feet.
PGD/B (2,1)
1. Wagh’s Rodale Rocky Road for Dewdhala. 2 yr old rough coated dog who has plenty to like, is full of attitude and was well handled here. Pleasing for overall type and nicely balanced with good length of neck, firm topline and tail set on high. Good skull to muzzle proportions, keen expressive eyes, correct ears and dentition. He stands true in front on good feet and moved well on the down and back but would just like to see a tad more extension in front on the go around. BOB.
Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier
PD/B (3,1)
1. Satherley, Satherley & Wynter’s Lakkas Yankee Sweet Silkcroft (Imp Swe). Two very different pups competed here, both with lots to like. My winner was this 7 mth old dog who is full of quality. He appealed for type and presented a lovely balanced outline with slightly arched neck of good length, firm topline, good length to ribcage, short loin and tail set on high. Balanced headpiece with good eye and ear, well defined stop and scissor bite. Good angles front and rear and stands straight in front. Moving freely all through with most impressive profile action and carriage. Best Puppy & Reserve BOB. Pleased to see he ended the day by taking Reserve BPIS.
2. Amel-Azizpour’s Crifftysofty Hay Jude. 8 mth old who presented a lovely compact outline with moderately long neck, level back, super ribbing for age, short loin and tail set on high. Quality head with masculine expression; good proportions and planes and scissor bite. He stands well naturally in front but needs to firm up when coming towards; however he went well behind and pretty well on the go around. Could have been moved out with a bit more pace to advantage. Super temperament.

1. Herbert’s Saffini Smooth Operator at Julibidd. 2 yr old dog who is up to size but he has lots to like and was so good to go over. Masculine all through, carrying good bone and well muscled. Pleasing outline with muscular neck of good length to balance, firm topline, excellent ribbing, short loin and high set tail. Balanced head with good planes, pleasing eye and ear, strong jaw and good dentition. Good angulation both ends and stands straight in front. Went very well on the go around and used himself as he went. Good quality coat. BOB.
2. Tilley’s Brynhir Born to Boogie at Starzak JW. Just coming up to 2 yrs, this girl is feminine throughout and presented a lovely compact outline. Slightly arched neck of correct length to balance, level topline, well ribbed back, nice short loin and tail set on high. Balanced head with parallel planes, well defined stop and scissor bite. She stands well naturally and moved freely on the down and back but couldn’t quite match profile action of winner. Correct texture to coat. Well handled.
Staffordshire Bull Terrier

1. Kirk, Rochelle, Rochelle & Walton’s Kirstaff God of Thunder. 10 mth red dog. This youngster pleased in outline with muscular neck, firm topline and tail set on low and of good carriage. Ribbed well back and rib developing well for age. Masculine head with good breadth to skull, good eye and ear, short muzzle and correct dentition. Standing well in front on correct feet with good width. Moves well on the go around and when going away and pretty good coming towards. Best Puppy.

1. Howard’s Matrixstaffs Star Dancer. I particularly liked the first two in this class and my notes say ‘very nice and similar’ and they turned out to be litter sisters! This 13 mth black brindle was my winner. Feminine all through, I thought her such a good type and so very well balanced. Neck of correct length, firm topline, excellent ribbing, muscular loin and tail set on low. Attractive head and expression with good breadth to skull, very good eye and ear, short muzzle and scissor bite. Good angles front and rear and standing with good breadth in front. Goes very well in profile with correct tail carriage.
2. Turner’s Matrixstaff Moon Dancer at Tidestaff. Most of the same comments apply to this black brindle girl. Scoring for type and outline, carrying good bone yet retaining femininity. Soundly constructed all through, standing straight in front with good width and so very well conditioned. Quality head and expression with excellent eye and ear. Not quite as well schooled as her sister.
3. Lloyd’s Kalostaff Es Lo Que Es
YD/B (5,1)
1. Howard’s Matrixstaffs Knight Star. 13 mth old dog who is the littermate to 1 and 2 in Junior. Certainly a consistent litter and all three should have bright futures. This lad excelled for type, carries good bone and was presented here in firm, hard condition. Super outline with muscular neck, level topline, deep brisket, well sprung ribs and tail set on low. Masculine head with broad skull, distinct stop, dark expressive eye, good ears, well developed cheeks and correct dentition. Standing well in front with good breadth, excellent feet and firm, muscular rear. Impressive profile action.
2. Lloyd’s Kalostaff Es Lo Que Es. 13 mth old black brindle dog who placed 3rd in Junior. This boy also pleased for type and is nicely balanced with strong neck of correct length, firm topline, well sprung ribs, muscular loin and tail set on low but carried a tad higher. Good quality head with pleasing expression; broad skull, eyes good for shape and colour, correct ears, short muzzle, strong jaws and scissor bite. Well boned forelegs and stands straight with good width on very good feet. Moves out well but winner just had the edge. Well handled.
3. Thomas & Griffiths’ Skyestaff Truest Desire for Gazstaff
PGD/B (4,0)
1. Kirk’s Kirstaff The First Avenger. First two appealed here although very different to one another. This 2 yr old red was my winner. He pleased in outline with muscular neck, firm level topline, deep brisket, well sprung ribs and tail set on low and of correct carriage. Masculine head of good proportions; broad skull, round eyes matching coat colour, good ears, short strong muzzle and scissor bite. Good angles front and rear and standing straight in front although would like to see more width. He moved freely on the down and back and went very well on the go around which is where he scored over 2. Well handled.
2. Tomkins’ Pasgal Reach Out and Touch. 2 yr old black brindle bitch. This girl has lots to like and she appealed for overall type and outline. Rather short, muscular neck, level topline, deep brisket, nice short loin and low set tail of correct carriage. Balanced headpiece with good breadth to skull, distinct stop, good eye and ear and short muzzle. Stands well in front with good width, correct feet and muscular hindquarters with well let down hocks. True on the down and back but not quite front extension of winner on the go around. Another well handled.
3. Thompson’s Alport Dark Queen
OD/B (3,0)
1. Thomas & Griffiths’ Ch Gazstaff’s Black Magic. Lovely class which saw this 5 yr old black brindle come out on top. Quality lad shown in super nick and was so good to go over. He scored for type and presented a lovely outline with muscular neck of correct length to give balance, firm level topline, first class ribbing, strong loin and tail set on low. Masculine headpiece with good breadth to skull, distinct stop, excellent eye and ear, well developed cheeks, short muzzle and scissor bite. Impressive front assembly; straight forelegs with good width and standing on correct feet. Moving freely on the down and back and with excellent profile action and using himself at all times. Very well handled. BOB. I understand he later took Group 3.
2. Howard’s Ch Matrixstaffs Black Beauty. 4 old black brindle bitch who was close up to 1 and I see she is the dam to the winners of both Junior and Yearling classes. Another of such good type, feminine all through yet possessing the strength and musculature required of the breed. Well balanced with correct length of neck, level topline, deep brisket with well sprung ribs, well-muscled loins and correct tail for both set and carriage. Most attractive head with broad skull, super eye and ear and short muzzle. Soundly built all through, standing with good width in front and moving freely and with good carriage but winner just had the edge. Reserve BOB.
