Bernese Mountain Dog

PD/B (5,3)

1. Worrall’s Oakbern Kodiac Gold. 9 mth bitch who scored for overall type and was good to go over. She carries good bone and pleased in outline with strong neck of good length to balance, firm topline, excellent rib for age and tail of good carriage. Feminine head but eye not quite the shape I was looking for. She stands true in front on excellent feet and has a very good forechest. Moved pretty well all through when settled. Best Puppy.

2. Wright & Kirk’s Roesilbern Forbidn Forrest. 8 mth old dog with an excellent temperament. Not quite outline of winner, needing to settle in topline and tail carried a tad higher but he is ribbed well back. Head still to fully develop but I preferred this boy’s eye to that of the winner. Pleasing angles front and rear and stands nice and straight in front. Moving true on the down and back. Well handled.

JD/B (3,2)

1. Wright & Kirk’s High Oaks Still Water Run Deep to Roesilbern (Imp Ita). 12 mth old bitch who has lots to like. Feminine all through, well balanced and good to go over. Muscular neck of moderate length, firm topline, good length to ribcage, strong loin and tail good for set and carriage. Attractive head with flat skull, dark expressive eyes and scissor bite. Straight forelegs and stands on good feet. Moving freely and another well handled. Reserve BOB.

PGD/B (2,1)

1. Watson’s Stepdashar Magical Wish. 20 mth old bitch. This girl pleased for type, carries good bone and has a lovely temperament. Quality head and expression; flat skull, super eye and ear and correct dentition. She stands straight in front and has a well developed forechest. Good neck, topline and tail but would like more length of leg to give balance. Moves well on the go around.

OD/B (1,0)

1. Green, Green & English’s Ch Waldershelf Can’t Ignora JW. 3 yr old bitch. Quality girl who appealed for overall type, carries good bone and was a delight to go over. Excellent neck, firm straight back, deep brisket, nice spring of rib, muscular loin and tail of good carriage. Feminine headpiece with flat skull, dark almond-shaped eyes, well defined stop and scissor bite. Good angles both ends and moved out well when viewed in profile with good carriage. Good coat, markings and colour. Very well handled. BOB and later shortlisted in the group.

Dogue de Bordeaux

PGD/B (4,1)

1. McEnaney & Oldman’s Bravadogue Mad Hatter. Rather varied class which saw this 22 mth old bitch come out on top. She appealed for overall type and carries lovely bone and substance. Feminine head yet with the strength of the breed, excellent eyes, good ears and proportions. Muscular neck, excellent ribbing, well-muscled loin and tail of good carriage. She could stand better in front but she moved well on the go around and has a lovely sound rear. Well handled. BOB.

2. Bailey’s Kenzduo Glad All Over with Nesaluma. 22 mth old bitch. I would like a little more of this girl all through but she has a good length of neck to balance, deep brisket, ribbed well back, muscular loin and tail correct for both set and carriage. Balanced head, defined stop and pleasing eye. She stands well naturally in front on good feet. Moving well enough all through but felt the action of winner was more breed typical.

3. Hixson’s Chardanmar Little Bit of Argee Bargee

OD/B (2,0)

1. Hixson’s Kenwone Peach Posy avec Chardanmar. Two very different bitches challenged in this class. My winner was this 2 yr old. Soundly constructed girl but a tad plainer. Having said this she pleased in outline with muscular neck of good length to balance, firm topline, excellent ribbing and tail carriage. Feminine head with correct length of muzzle, good eyes and underjaw. She stands well in front and has nice feet. Moving well all through. Reserve BOB.

2. Hixson’s Punkie de la Tribu de Laza avec Chardanmar. 4 yr old bitch who is full of type but a little much for me and not nearly as well balanced as winner. Carrying a lot of bone, she has a strong neck, acceptable topline, very good rib and muscular loin. Well proportioned head with good eye and ear and broad underjaw. Moves pretty well all through but she wasn’t at all relaxed.

Mastiff

PGD/B (4,2)

Muscular neck of good length to balance, not quite topline of winner, ribbed well back, firm loin and good tail carriage. Good breadth to skull, Eyes of good size and placement but could be shade darker, ears set on well and broad underjaw. Masculine headpiece with excellent skull and correctly proportioned, expressive eyes and correct dentition. Good angles front and rear and moved out well on the go around. Very well handled. BOB and made the group shortlist.

PGD/B (4,0)

By the time the breed got into the ring the conditions were less than ideal and the temperature had dropped quite considerably; some exhibits therefore did not give their best on the day.

1. Knight’s Aelaro It’s All About Me. 6 mth black/white bitch. This pup has lots to like and she presented a nicely balanced outline with arched neck of good length, correct topline with slight arch over the loin leading to low set tail which she carries correctly. Balanced headpiece with expressive eyes and correct dentition but one ears spoils the picture somewhat. She stands true in front on good feet and moved freely on the down and back and pleased on the go around too.

2. Fryett’s Kensesqui Jive. 9 mth fawn/white bitch. Feminine all through with neck of good length to balance, ribbed well back but chest still to drop and tail of good carriage. Expressive eyes of good colour, rose-shaped ears and good dentition. Straight forelegs, standing on good feet and sound on the move but not quite front action or elegance of winner.

3. Henshall’s Aelaro A Bit of Magic by Gemolli

1. Hunter’s Salatini Supremo. 16 mth fawn dog who presented a pleasing outline with long, arched neck, chest of good depth, correct topline with arch over the loin and tail set on low. Attractive headpiece with slight stop, expressive eyes, good ears and scissor bite. Moving freely both fore and aft, with propulsion from the rear but would like to see a tad more lift in front.

2. Henshall’s Gemolli One Moment In Time. 11 mth fawn/white trim bitch. This youngster pleased for overall type and presented a good outline with nicely arched neck of good length, correct topline, ribbed well back, slight arch over the loin leading to low set tail which she carried correctly. Attractive head with feminine expression, good eye and ear and scissor bite. She needs to settle in front but did more than enough here to take Best Puppy.

1. Hunter’s Salatini Statuesque. Neither of the exhibits in this class were settled. My winner was this 15 mth fawn bitch. She pleased for type and presented a good outline with gracefully arched neck, correct topline and tail good for both set and carriage. She stands well naturally in front on correct hare feet and has a good turn of stifle. Moving freely on the down and back but could lift more in front on the go around.

2. Hunter’s Salatini Dakota Gold. 2 yr old fawn dog. Similar in type to the winner and I see they share the same sire. Long, arched neck, pleasing topline, well ribbed back, good underline and tail set on low. Balanced headpiece but overall preferred expression of winner. He stands true in front on correct feet and is well angulated in the rear. Moves true both fore and aft.

1. Hunter’s Salatini Rose Gold. Ultra-feminine 2 yr old fawn bitch who pleased for type and presented a nicely balanced outline. Neck of good length with graceful arch, correct topline, good depth to chest, firm loin and tail set on low and correctly carried. Pleasing head with long, flat skull, eyes of good colour, rose-shaped ears and scissor bite. Good angles front and rear, straight forelegs, hare feet and firm rear with hocks well let down. Moves true on the down and back and went more than well enough on the go around. BOB.

2. Henshall’s Gemolli Midnight Magic. 4 yr old blue/white trim dog. This lad has lots to like although is quite different to the winner. He pleased for outline with good length of neck, correct topline with slight arch over the loin and tail set on nice and low. Balanced head but not quite expression of winner. He stands well naturally and has good feet. Moving freely all through and well handled. Reserve BOB.
