Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers 

My sincerest thanks to the Secretary, Officers and Committee for their invitation to judge Tollers and for their excellent hospitality today. It was a great honour to be afforded this judging appointment. Thank you to my efficient steward, Rachel, who kept the ring moving all day. Finally, my deepest thanks to the exhibitors for giving me the honour of judging their dogs, and for their excellent sportsmanship.

Puppy (2, 0)

1 Tester’s Gingafing Best Of You. Almost 8 month old bitch in good coat. Lovely head and expression. Neck well set on leading to good lay of shoulder. Nice straight front and neat feet. Deep brisket and moderate tuck up. Level topline. Tail well set on with a hint of a white tip. Moved ok. BP.

2 Brittan’s Rivermaster’s Aurora. 6 month and 1 week old sweet bitch. Nice head with sweet expression. Good bone and neat feet. Deep brisket leading to short loin. Good rear angulation with hocks well let down. Tail well set on. In good coat. Clearly enjoying her day out. Rather unsettled on the move in this class, but settled nicely and moved better in Junior.

Junior (3, 0)

1 Smith’s Tollisty Raudr. Almost 13 month old dog. Nice wedge shaped head with ears well set on. Eyes blending with coat colour. Medium length neck leading to good layback of shoulder. Tight feet. Good coat with excellent furnishings and well feathered tailed. Held his topline and moved ok. Won this class on his maturity.

1 Smith’s Tollisty Couldn’t Careless. Nicely handled 2 years and 8 month bitch. Good head with slightly rounded skull, eyes set well apart and ears well set on. Sweet, friendly expression. Nice angles both fore and aft. Strong loin. Hocks well let down. Good feet. Held her topline on the move, moved ok. Needs time to mature.

2 Salmon’s Acadiabyrne Tibetan Coral. 3 year old dog. Nice head, ear set and expression. Medium length neck leading to strong back and loin. Tail well set on, reaching to hocks. Hocks well let down. In good coat and condition. Would like a tad more depth of chest, but may develop as he continues to mature. Moved ok. 

3 Tester’s Gingafing Forget Me Not.

Open Dog (4, 0)

1 Elkin’s CH Tollelkin Caife Americano WGC SGWC ShCEx. Handsome almost 5 year old dog. Presents a balanced picture with level topline both standing and on the move. Masculine head with kind expression. Strong neck and good forechest. Excellent angulation both fore and aft. Well-muscled. Strong tail. Would prefer a tad less height. Moved with drive and ease. Pleased to award him BOB and see him go on to take Gundog Group 4.

2 Elkin’s Tollelkin Dream Harbour JW. 3 year old dog. Wedge shaped head with eyes set well apart and blending with coat colour. Would prefer slightly more length of muzzle. Nice angles fore and aft. Good depth of forechest. Neat feet. Nicely muscled with good depth of thigh. Good rich red coat. Beautiful feathering on his neck and tail. Moved true and stood square with a strong level topline.

3 Strevens’ Tollisty You Can’t Decline.

Open Bitch (4, 0)

1 West’s Raynechaser Luna Eclipse BEG EX. Almost 5 year old bitch. In good coat. Nice head and expression with good ear set. Front strong and straight with neat feet. Good forechest. Lovely angulation both fore and aft. Tail well set on and of good length. Hocks well let down. Level topline both standing and on the move. Won this class on her easy, free flowing movement. RBOB.

2 Tester’s Gingafing Careless Whisper. 7 year old bitch. Nicely made with the sweetest of expressions. Slightly smaller than 1. Presents a balanced picture. Nice forechest and depth of brisket. Short backed with moderate tuck up. Hocks well let down. Neat feet. Tail well set on and of good length. Level topline when stood to advantage. Moved well.
