Bearded Collie

P: (3) 1st Cooper’s Tybury’s Origin of Hope, 7-month-old blue and white bitch who really appealed on the move where she was unexaggerated and effortless with plenty of reach and balance. Her head is well proportioned with a good eye, well-set ears and good underjaw. She has a nice outline with a level topline, which was kept on the move with good length and return of upper arm and well laid shoulder. Good neck, well ribbed with a gently sloping croup and well-set tail. She is well angled at the rear with short rear pasterns. Very promising puppy. Best Puppy in Breed who took a lap of honour in the Puppy Group. 2nd Bowden’s Subessen the Wonder of You, nearly 9-month-old blue and white dog who at first look is very impressive. He has a super head with a square skull of good size and strong muzzle. He has a good depth of chest and well laid-back shoulder but didn’t have quite the reach on the move as the winner. Very well presented. 3rd Collins’ Full of the Dickens Winner Takes it all for Kingswud.

PG: (7,2) 1st Jones’ Clanwillow Crown and Glory, an 18-month-old slate dog I judged earlier in the year and still liked him today. A bigger dog, with a big coat, he has a masculine head, square flat skull with good muzzle and bite, eye of good size and good underjaw. Under the coat he has a good neck, well laid shoulder and upper arm of good length and return with well sprung ribs, a strong back and short loin. His hindquarters are well angled to match his front, and his tail reaches the hock. Balanced and effortless on the move, keeping his topline well. Reserve Best of Breed. 2nd O’Connell’s Potterdale Royal Sapphire of Atherleigh, 2-year-old blue and white bitch, another with a lot to like. Lovely in outline with super neck and length of back. I would have preferred just a touch more length of leg. She is feminine with a good head of correct proportions and an eye of good size. She has a super topline, with balanced and correct angulation front and rear which allowed her to move well. Beautifully presented, it was a really close decision between the 2. 3rd Bevis’ Beabeardies Cinnamon Girl.

O: (4) 1st Bowden’s Subessen Heart of Rome (Re-imp), 5-year-old black and white dog. Masculine dog with a super outline and correct proportions and no exaggeration. He has a lovely head with a flat, square skull, kind eye and well-set ears with a strong muzzle and good bite and underjaw. Lovely neck which flows into a firm, level back, good length of rib cage with a well sprung rib and short loin, and gently sloping croup. I loved his front angulation, with a well laid shoulder and excellent length and return of upper arm, perfectly matching his rear with short rear pasterns. He has good bone and a slight slope to his front pasterns which end in good feet with well arched toes. He carries a correct coat, of harsh texture and not too long and overdone. On the move he got better the more he moved, showing an effortless reach and easy stride. Best of Breed, and I was pleased to watch him win G3 later on. Well done and thank you for bringing him. 2nd Jones’ Esp Ch Clanwillow Amazing Grace JW, WW’22, 3-year-old black & white bitch who I’ve also judged before. A nice girl with a lot to like, good head properties, strong muzzle and good eye. She has a good outline with a lovely length of neck and level topline. Well angled front and rear which allowed her to move well.

Finnish Lapphund

P: (0) J: (3,2) 1st Cross’ Lappviken Timantti of Manu I really liked this 14-month tricolour girl. A little finer all over, but she has a lovely head, feminine with a super eye, short muzzle and well-set ears. She has moderate angles front and rear with good depth of chest, well sprung rib, level back and high set tail. When she settled into her stride was balanced front and rear but in the challenge was a bit unsettled and so lost out to steadier veteran but was worthy of Reserve Best of Breed. If I could give her handler one bit of advice it would be to try and get her to stand further away as when she looks right up, her neck shortens, and this makes her appear stuffy.

PG: (1,1)

O: (2) 1st Lee’s Ch Kaijartuu Hopea Noita JW, 7-year-old wolf sable bitch, well proportioned head with a strong muzzle, good underjaw, lovely dark, oval eyes of good size and well-set ears. Good neck and super angles front and rear, a touch longer in back than I’d prefer but this was level with a good depth of chest and spring of rib. Super bone and good feet. Very balanced and steady on the move. Best of Breed. 2nd Lee’s Kaijartuu Ihmissusi JW, the younger brother to the winner at 5-years-old, also wolf sable. Very similar head properties but stronger in muzzle which gave him a harsher expression. I preferred his overall proportions, but the expression of his sister and he tended to toe in on the move.
