COCKER CLUB OF SCOTLAND – 27/10/2024

My thanks to CCOS for the invite to judge their open show, my second breed club engagement. I was overwhelmed with the entry for an open show of 91 (108), and made the long journey north of the border so worth. Quality overall was exceptional, however I was a little concerned with bites in a few of the males. I come from a breed where bites are never 100% but in the Cocker Spaniel where the mouth space is much bigger and better I would not be expecting to see so many bad mouths. Having said that though the Baby Puppy classes were so reassuring that the future of the breed in Scotland is full of so much promising quality!!. The atmosphere was exceptional at the show, and I was made so welcome by every exhibitor and the whole committee. My thanks to Kirsty my exceptional steward for the day.

VD (4,0) 1 BELLTREES KANDYMAN 7 year old Red. Lovely head and expression, with good workings through the head. He has an exceptional body and lay of shoulder, lovely balance in rib and loin ratio. He is a good mover with great cockery action. BVIS. 2 PEARKIM POKEMON AT LUANSHYA JW, 7 year old Orange Roan. Lovely balance all through, a little more filling in the muzzle would be preferred. Good neck and forequarters, short loin, good drive from behind with equal balance in the front reach. 3 SNOWGATE STARSTRUCK

MPD (6,0) 1 WHINBURN DEARG AURORA 6month old Red dog. The most beautiful head and expression. Good working through the head. A lovely neck into super shoulder and fore quarters, he has beautiful forechest which gives you a good handful. Excellent bone, good rib and loin. He is a very happy showman, and this is shown in his cockery merry action as he goes. Despite being so young I couldn’t take my eyes off him in the dog challenge and awarded him Res Best Dog, and subsequently Best Puppy in Show. 2 OKTUMI OPPORTUNITY. Blue Roan. Lovely expression and head, he has a good forequarters, just not the depth of forechest of the winner which split the decision today. Has a good rib and loin ratio. Good coat, shown in super condition. He moves happy and merry, 3 TOTENKOPF DRIVING ME CRAZY

PD (2,0) 1 LYNSHOW KILDA. Red Male, a little unsettled in earlier class, but has good makings about him. Lovely head and expression. Prefer a little more filling in the muzzle. He has a good forechest. Little taller than other puppies here today which makes him look a little unbalanced. He is a good mover, just needs to get his tail up. 2 VISTINA LANG MAE YER LUM REEK 10 month old Black. Nice head, expression is not the most softest. He is shown in good coat and condition. A little more upright in shoulder than the winner, and tail set is not best.

JD (3,1) 1 ROSECOURT TUXEDO Wins on balance of head, lovely expression. Not overdone in head. Good lay of shoulder and depth of chest. Well sprung rib, short loin. Good mover once he settled. 2 CRAIGDEAN SLOPPY JOE. Beautifully presented blue male that took my eye when he came in the ring. He is a little stronger in head than winner, has a good neck into well laid shoulders. He has a beautiful balance of body. His bite is a little uneven which was also a deciding factor today.

YD (2,1) 1 MABELHOPE RULE THE WORLD. Blue roan. Good shoulder and neck, little erratic on the move. But well conditioned and full of life. His expression is not the softest, and his bite is level.

GD B/R/G/BT/L/LT (2,1) 1 LOCHRANZA CELTIC RAY. 18 month old Black and Tan. When he first came in the ring for this class he was a little wild for his handler, however when he came back in for the dog challenge with a different handler he certainly came into his own and fulfilled all his potential. True Lochranza style and type!!. Beautiful soft expression, lovely head and working in the head. He has a good muzzle. Well laid shoulders, super depth of forechest. He has a good spring of rib, and a nice length of loin. In the challenge he moved with reach and drive, true cocker merriness. I could not deny this dog Best Dog, and subsequently Best in Show.

GD AOC (2,0) 1 CRAIGDEAN SLOPPY JOE (See second in JD). 2 DUNHERL MOUNTAIN ASH. 1 year old blue dog. A little taller which does affect his overall appearance of balance. Lovely head proportions, albeit his eye is a little droopy showing some haw of eye. A little upright in shoulder, he has great rib and loin.

PGD (3,1) 1 ANNILANN MISTER BOO. Little heavier marked on head and neck which can give an appearance of unbalanced, but he has a great expression and neck when you look closely. Lovely forechest, good rib and loin. Good mover and carries himself well. 2 DUNHERL MOUNTAIN ASH (Second in GD AOC) 3 YODELMEISTER VON MAGICCIRCLE IN BARTONHOLM.

LD (4,2) 1 CHATAWAY DARK LOUIS. 3yr old Red Dog. Lovely expression, I’d like a tad more fill in muzzle. Good length of neck and forechest is superb. Good spring of rib, nice strong loin. Excellent mover in breed class, albeit a little erratic in challenge later, but still carries himself well with great cocker drive. He is a super dog and a worthy winner today. 2 RANCECRAIG A MILLON DREAMS. Blue dog. A little heavier in head than winner, his bite is also slightly out on top row. Good neck, and lay of shoulder. He has good spring of ribs, excels in topline on the move. He moves with great bustling action.

OD (3,1) 1 LYNWATER BLACK AND BLUE. Blue dog, lovely head and expression. Not overdone in his head. Good lay of shoulder, has an exceptional handful of forechest. Good rib, would like a tad more weight. Good mover with bustling merry action. 2 RYALLCOURT TAN ABOUT TOWN AT SCOMAR Black Tri, little stronger in head and a tad throaty for me. He is up to size. Good rib and loin. Good shoulder lay. Moves well.

BABY PD (7,4) 1 CHALLOWDOWN BACK IN TIME FOR RUPHILL. A 4 month old orange roan. What a little star this boy is!!. Super head and expression. Great front and neck. He excels in rib and loin. Excellent mover and so cocky on the go round, with full attitude. He is so merry and bustling true cocker action. This boy is definitely a star of the future and will I am certain make up when older. Best Baby Puppy in Show could not be denied for him today. 2 RYALLCOURT WAY ABOVE OVER SCOMAR. 5 month old Black Tri Colour. Super head and expression. Excellent body and super little mover. Just needs a bit of baby fluff trimming off him as he develops. But I like him a lot. 3 LYNWATER MOON WALK.

BABY PB (10,2) Firstly what a good quality class of baby bitches. 1 LYNWATER NESS Blue Road. Super expression and head. Good working in the head. Super neck and front. The depth in forechest is phenomonal for one so young. Super neck and front. Good spring of rib, strong loin. Carries so well on the move full of attitude. 2 KIRLINJIS GOLD BEACH. Orange Roan, super little mover. Excels in neck and front. Good spring of rib, nice loin length. Good mover, and very confident. 3 TOTENKOPF DUTCH DESIRE.

VB (1,0) 1 KENWAD BLACK OPIUM AT RAVENSGREEN. 8 year old Black. This girl doesn’t think she’s eight years old, and if I was her handler I’d need to lay down after showing her, she is so lively and full of life. Beautiful feminine head, excels in her body and coat condition. She has a good lay of shoulder, super spring of rib, good loin Moves well, but gets a bit excited which sometimes throws her profile out a bit. But she is a lovely girl.

MPB (8,1) 1 CORRALET OPERA OF DUNHERL. 7 month Blue Road. Expressive head and well balanced. Good front and neck, she has lovely rib. Good mover with ease and great bustling drive from behind. 2 LOCHELLAN PURE KAOS Blue. Little difficult on the mover for her handler, but she settled in the end. Super head and expression. Lovely lay of shoulder. Excels in rib. Well conditioned. 3 COOLEELA LAUGHING EYES.

PB (6,0) 1 ROSECOURT PETITOES. A 9month Black and White. What a super puppy! Excellent head and expression. Super lay of neck and shoulder. Excellent spring of rib and a strong short loin. Super bone. Moves with style and good strong drive from behind. In challenge she was a little too lively and sometimes erratic, but I couldn’t deny her Best Puppy Bitch and RBPIS. This girl has a bright future. 2 CORRALET OPERA OF DUNHERL (1st in MPB). 3 TOTENKOPF STIR UP TROUBLE.

JB (5,1) 1 ROYAL’S FRIEND ECS ZAIDA’S SERENITY IN BARTONHOLM (IMP HUN) 1 year old Blue Roan. Super head and expression. Lovely forechest, excels in her forequarters and middle piece. Super condition, and a great little mover. 2 ROSECOURT ROMANCE. Young Blue Bitch, excels in head and all through body. Just a little younger than winner, but a super mover full of quality. 3 TOTENKOPF DUTCH DOUBLE DEUCE.

YB (4,1) 1 SH CH ZHERIDONS BLANCHE. 2 year old Red. Lovely head and expression. Super head shape. Excels in forechest, super lay of shoulder. Rib and loin ratios are balanced and of great quality. Moves with strong reach and drive and full of bustling cocker merriness. I could not deny her Reserve Best Bitch today. 2 ANLASANA YEAVERING BELLE. Blue Roan. Nice feminine head. Eyes a little big and round for me, thus affecting the overall expression. Excellent mover when she settles. 3 TOTENKOPF MYAS REVENGE.

MB (5,1) 1 INVERELLA TINY TOES 1 year feminine black. Lovely expression and feminine head. Super forequarters and middle piece. She is shown in super condition and moves with such clear bustling action. 2 LYNWATER SNOW MOON. Orange Roan. Another quality female. Super expression and head. Good body and balance. Just not as fluid on the drive as the winner. 3 DUNHERL PENELOPE PITSTOP.

NB (5,2) 1 TOTENKOPF DUTCH DEUCE. Black. Lovely expression and head. Super moving, well balanced. 2 DUNHERL PENELOPE PITSTOP. Lovely blue. Good expression and OK mover.

GB B/R/G/BT/L/LT (5,1) 1 INVERELLA MISTLETOE KISS Black. Femine head, lovely expression. Good forechest depth. Nice neck into well laid shoulders and good rib. Short loin. Super little mover. 2 DUNHERL BLAZING STAR. Little taller black, but equally of quality. Lovely head and neck. Super rib and loin. A little sparse in coat, but moves free and with good cocker bustling action. 3 TOTENKOPF DUTCH MIRROR SCRY.

PGB (6,1) 1 KENWAD KATARINA AT LINDALLOCH. Blue. Good feminine head, with a lovely expression. Good shoulder. She has a nice rib and loin. Nice little mover on the go round. 2 RAVENSGREEN ABAIR JONGNADH Black. Nice expression, good balance in body and a fair mover. 3 BELLA HILLS TO INVERELLA.

LB (6,0) 1 MISPERROS INCANDESCENT AT CARMELFAIR JW Blue. Beautiful feminine head and expression. Super forechest. Excellent rib and loin. She has good rear quarters, nice short hocks that drive so well. She is a super girl. Couldn’t be denied Best Bitch and RBIS today. I understand later that she has had some good success in the recent past. 2 ANLASANA ANGEL EYES. Blue, little taller. Excels in head and expression. Super forechest, rib and loin. Moves with good reach and drive, driving well from behind. 3 KENYNTEN NAKED AMBITION AT KAIMERLAY.

OB (6,3) 1 CORRALET CONDESA III OF DUNHERL JW Blue Bitch 22 months. Lovely head and expression. Well built, beautifully conditioned in body and coat. She drives well from behind. 2 DUNHERL BLAZING STAR (2nd in GB), 3 TOTENKOPF DUTCH MIRROR SCRY.
