GOLDEN RETRIEVERS Wellingborough & District Canine Society All Breed Open Show 28th January 2023 I would like to express my sincerest thanks to the Committee of Wellingborough & District Canine Society for their kind invitation to judge. Also, a huge thank you to my two wonderful Stewards for making my ring run so smoothly. And at last, but not least the Exhibitors - thank you all for bringing your lovely dogs under me and giving me a chance to go over each of them. DOGS MPD (3,1a) 1. Grainger’s BREKSWOOD GENTLEMAN JACK This young boy with lovely head stands foursquare on his straight legs with good bone and tight feet. He has excellent length of leg. Short coupling with good front and rear angulation. He moved out well once settled, straight viewed from front and rear. Very Promising and one to watch. BPD 2. Foremans’ Mr & Mrs AMBERSUN SUMMER SON Another lovely boy, more mature than the winner. Good head and expression, good reach of neck, correct length of leg, good bone and level topline. He just needs to tighten a bit more on rear pasterns, which will come with time. PD (3,) 1. Angell’s LINIRGOR SEVEN UP AT MILLANZA This youngster has a asculine, but sweet head, good reach of neck and correct shoulder placement. He has straight front legs with good bone and tight feet, as well as excellent length of leg. Short coupling with good front and rear angulation, well-let down hocks and correct length of tail. He moved out well, straight viewed from front and rear. 2, Lanes’ Mr & Mrs & Lane-Ridyard’s HARDYLLIC JACK OF DIAMONDS WITH KULAWAND Presented in a lovely coat, this boy has a masculine head and good reach of neck. He possesses correct length of leg, good bone. Moved well but I just preferred the overall balance of the winner. 3. Wurft’s TENFIELD ROYAL SALUTE JD (3,1a) 1.Angell’s LINIRGOR SEVEN UP AT MILLANZA 2. Wurft’s TENFEILD ROYAL SALUTE this youngster has a good fore and aft angulation. Moved as well as expected, true coming and going with such a happy attitude. PGD (5, 1a) 1. Harris & Ball’s WEMCREST OUT OF THIS WORLD JW This dog presented a balanced outline, nothing overdone. Pleasing head and gentle expression, neck well set into well laid-back shoulders and level topline that he kept on the move. Good length of leg, short coupled with matching front and rear angulation, short, neat hocks and in overall great condition RBD. 2. Keightley RICHANA ROCKET MAN JW Good head, good reach of neck, lovely flow into laid-back shoulders. Good bone and feet, correct length of leg. Moved well but I preferred the overall balance of the winner. 3. Ward’s MITCHNEL HE WHO LAUGHS LAST AT BUARTONE LD (4, 1a) 1. Pounds-Longhurst’s MOSSBURN GALLOPING MAJOR JW The overall condition of this dog is what we should all aim for. He has a masculine, but soft head set on a strong neck of good length. Correct shoulder layback, good lengths of leg, well-fitting elbows. He has a level topline and strong rear quarters. Moves out well and at one with handler. 2. Humphrey’s SEQUOTIA ANYWHERE IS he has a pleasing masculine head and straight front. He moved well but preferred the overall balance of 1. 3. Wurft’s UNIONJACK-DUKE OF CALIMERO’S CASTLE (ATC DEU) OD (7, 1a) 1. Loverock’s PUTJADE PEAKY BLINDER AT LOVISSA Presented in glorious coat this dog has a lovely head and expression and good reach of neck, super topline that he maintained on the move, a quality dog with everything in the right place. Freestanding on strong legs of correct length and cat-like feet and his handler knows how to get the best out of him. I had no hesitation to award him BD and then BOB. 2. Wallington’s WYNRITA SCHOOL DAZE Masculine head, gentle expression good pigment. Good bone on his straight legs and neat feet. Excellent angulation fore and aft, good spring of rib a strong level topline . Moved round the ring with good reach and drive. 3. Foremans’ Mr & Mrs AMBERSUN HEART AND SOUL BITCHES MPB (4, 3a) 1. Robbins’ & Rowark’s BREKSWOOD HONEY BEE What a pretty young lady. Her construction is correct in so many ways, she presents a super balanced outline. Ultra feminine with pretty head and sweet expression. Certainly one to watch for the future. PB (9, 4a) 1. List’s HAYDENGOLD MOMENT IN TIME Such a beautiful, compact girl. Symmetrical in her construction with nothing overdone. Pretty head, super layback and good reach of neck, all flowing into a level topline that she maintained beautifully on the move. I loved her super catlike feet and straight front. Good front and rear angulation, correct length of leg, short coupled. Presented perfectly by her handler. I have a feeling she has a bright future ahead of her. It was a pleasure to award her Best Puppy Bitch and then BPIB. 2. Robbins’ & Rowark’s BREKSWOOD HONEY BEE 3. Taylor’s STRETTONHILL’S DAFFODIL JB (5, 1a) 1. Gayler’s CAROLAKE X’MARKS THE SPOT JW Beautiful shape with no signs of exaggeration. Feminine head with good proportions, good reach of neck and super layback. Super front construction, well bent stifles and hocks well let down. Excellent topline and tail set. Excellent on the move RBB 2. Harding’s EVENING HILL RED SKY AT NIGHT Beautiful, feminine head. Well angulated both front & rear, level topline and well set on tail. She was presented in good condition and moved well. Very unlucky to meet the winner. 3. Davis’ LYNSTE MIDAS TOUCH PGB (7, 3a) 1. Forman’s AMBERSUN ALL OF MY HEART This lovely girl has a super front construction and a balanced, flowing outline. Feminine head with excellent reach of neck and layback of shoulders. She stands foursquare on legs of good length with good bone and tight feet. Her front and rear angulation match and what an absolute pleasure to watch on the move covering the ground so easily. Best Bitch 2. Chan’s WEMCREST SOUND OF MUSIC Pleasing head and nice neck into well laid- back shoulders, elbows tight. Well bent, stifle straight feet, moved with drive holding a level topline. 3. Smithies’ HAYDENGOLD WHISPER SECRETS WITH ALFIRO LB (5, 3a) 1. Pounds-Longhurst’s ROSGAR DOLLY O’DARE AMONG MOSSBURN As beautiful and elegant as the first time I judged this lady, not overdone in any way, construction and leg length give her the great drive on the move. She has good bone and neat feet, level topline and moves effortlessly around the ring while clearly willing to please her handler. 2. Chan’s LOVISSA HELLO DOLLY OF WEMCREST Pretty, ultra feminine head and expression. Good flow of neck into well-laid shoulders, straight front, correct rear angulation. Level topline both standing and on the move. OB (6, 2a) 1. Hush’s BENROWAN ESPRIT Pleasing head and soft expression. Super reach of neck and layback of shoulder. Beautiful front construction allowing her to reach while on the move. Short coupling, good leg length and cat-like feet. Strong topline that she keeps level whilst striding freely around the ring. 2. Pett’s LADY IN RED DE AMBERSCLAN OF RUMWOOD (IMP FRA) Feminine head and expression, good front angulation and forechest. Mature I body with deeo through to heart chest. Level topline both in outline and on the move. No doubt a quality girl but preferred overall balance of 1. 3. Brown’s SANSUE LOVE NOTE AT LOUELLABROOK Judge: Simon O’Gorman (Berrymeade)
