Herts and Essex Border Canine Society

        Many thanks to the society, officials and exhibitors for their time, patience and entries. I know it was a long day and I can only apologise for being taken ill so suddenly. I did however enjoy my day and had some cracking dogs to go over. Thanks also goes to Mrs Worral for stepping in to judge my remaining breeds.

Airedale Terrier

Puppy (2)

1. Hall's Muliebrity Purple Princess Avec Tonerrier eleven-month-old bitch with good expression. Nice flat skull with good proportions and ear-set. Correct scissor bite. Shoulders flat and well laid back. Good depth of chest and nicely coupled. Carried her tail well, showing good character. Hindquarters well-muscled and angulated with nice low hocks. Decent texture to coat in okay colour. Moved okay though should tighten up as she matures. BP
2. Eastall's Shadlisa On A High Together At Daedal just six-month-old dog full of confidence and spirit, glad to see a puppy so happy to be out. Well-built with plenty of good bone. Correct scissor bite. Great depth to the chest and nice level topline. Nice tail set carried well. In the brief moments where he settled, moved sound. A promising young dog.

1. Steinke's Temtiz Miss Prim and Proper seventeen-month-old bitch of good size. Well-proportioned flat skull with good ear-set. Correct scissor bite. Well-laid shoulders, with good bone to the forequarters. Okay depth of chest, correct level topline. Hindquarters well-angulated with great muscle and low hocks. Okay mover, happy game temperament shown in her correct tail carriage. Nice tail set. In plenty of coat with decent colour and good hard texture.

1. Knights, Steinke & Stokes' Temtiz Buzz Lightyear At Lelaps seventeen-month-old dog, unsure of the ring though not bad-tempered. When he relaxed his true expression shone through. Well-balanced and masculine in appearance. Nice head with good proportions. Correct scissor bite. Great level top-line. Decent coat with good hard texture. Moved well once he settled. Just needs to settle in the ring. His movement got him the RBOB

1. Eastall's Daedal Frozen In Time [AI] six-year-old bitch, feminine though powerful in appearance. Good-tempered with correct keen expression. Nice flat skull, well proportioned. Muscular neck leading into well-laid shoulders, with great depth of chest. Correct level topline with good tail set and nice clean underline. Well-angulated and muscled hindquarters. Overall a compact though strong, well-boned bitch. Well presented with good hard texture and nice colour to coat BOB

Bedlington Terrier

1. Smith's Ozbreeze Wildest Dreams ten-month-old liver bitch of good size. Correct scissor bite, with feminine head. Eye softer in shape than I would like. Correct velvety texture to ears, though would prefer them to be thinner. Good flat ribs. Arch forward, coupling okay. Very soft continental coat, could use more guard hairs though in decent colour. Okay muscle tone. Well-angulated rear with good low hocks. Needs time to strengthen her rear, hocks turn a little on the move. BP

1. Porter-Manning & Porter's Woolytop Secret Wispa Among Wallaroo JW three-year-old blue bitch in plenty of coat with correct linty texture. Good size with correct ratio. Nice head with good dark eye. Proportionate ear nicely set. Good depth of chest giving a lovely underline. Well-placed arch though softens slightly on the move. Well-angulated rear with nice low hocks and correct tail-set. Would like a little more muscle tone and refinement in presentation RBOB

1. Godden's Ozbreeze Surprise Of The Day At Vakurblue three-year-old blue dog. Best head, Lovely long wedge shape and correct triangular eye. Okay depth of chest, good flat ribs. Nice twist to coat with decent colour though more guard hairs would help. Arch a little forward though coupled okay. Would like more strength to the croup. Well-angulated hindquarters with good low hocks. Kept his topline on the move though a little wide at the front BOB

1. Alpe's Pipruda Perfect Storm grizzle & tan six-month-old bitch, mature in appearance and of good size. Well-proportioned typical otter head with good ear set. Correct scissor bite set well. Stood freely and with great presence. Nicely angulated at both ends with correct feet. Easily spanned with good width to the brisket. Best mover of the class, correct carrot tail carried well on the move. In good coat with texture and rich colouring. No doubt has a bright future BP
2. Clewlow's Borasco Lady Vengeance dark red grizzled eight-month-old bitch with feminine proportions though well-structured with a racy appearance. Lovely otter head with correct expression and lay of ear. Correct scissor bite, well set. Nicely angulated with proportionate small feet. More mature coat with good texture. Moved beautifully, really stood out in both her classes.

1. Sneddon's Ravenside Play The Game Kersfell JW seventeen-month-old grizzle and tan dog. Moved true showing the quality of his construction, best mover on the day. Typical masculine head with nice scissor bite and great expression. Good ear set correctly laid. Nice spannable brisket, making a good underline. Very well-angulated at both ends. Beautiful ratio, though well sized. Correct carrot tail carried well. Just a little out of coat on the day, one to watch RBOB

1. Hall's Borderrush Rambutan twenty-month-old grizzle bitch, very well balanced overall. Typical well-proportioned head with nice set and lay of ear. Correct scissor bite and set with nice length of neck. Great depth to the chest and nicely spanned. Good angulation with correct small feet. Nice size and ratio, feminine but strong gamey appearance. Lovely texture and colour to the coat with correct thick skin. Moved true and with great drive carrying her tail well. BOB
2. Tuffin's Southash Lavender Blue At Oatberry four-year-old blue and tan bitch, a little longer in the back than one. Lovely well-sized otter head. Correct scissor bite with good set and lay of ear. Nice depth to the chest with a good span. Very nicely angulated at both ends. Beautiful colour and texture to coat. Moved well with a good carrot tail carried well.

1. Wand's Stowthorney Sands Of Time two-year-old grizzle dog, with a lovely-sized otter head and game expression. Correct set and lay of ear. Nice scissor bite, set squarely in the jaw. Great depth of chest and nicely spanned making a lovely underline. Good moderate length of neck. Well-angulated at both ends with small feet. Nice size and ratio. Overall balanced with a racy appearance. In good coat with a lovely texture and correct thick skin. Moved well with typical tail carried nicely.
2. Hall's Otterwood Aura At Borderrush four-year-old blue and tan bitch, feminine but strong and gamey in appearance. Typical otter head with a nice roundness to the skull. Ears well set and laid. Correct scissor bite. Good depth of chest and span making a lovely soft underline. Well-angulated at both ends with a nice ratio. Moved well with great tail carriage.

Cairn Terrier

Though a small entry I was very pleased with the overall quality of dogs present, they are a testament to their breeder.

1. Saich's Lindcoly Singing Angela nine-month-old feminine red brindle bitch. Lovely bright game expression. Eyes dark and well set with nice eyebrows. Good broad skull with definite stop and well-set ears. Good-sized teeth with correct scissor bite. Nice slope to shoulders with good bone. Typical strong compact feet. Ribs well sprung. Well-muscled for her age and in a good harsh coat with okay colour. Nice tail set and carried well. BP

1. Saich's Lindcoly Here Come's Oh Shi 23-month-old cream brindle bitch in plenty of good harsh coat. Typical game expression with a well-furnished head and well-set ears with just the right amount of coat. Eyes dark and nicely set with plenty of eyebrow. Nice clean scissor bite. Well-angulated at both ends. Good depth of chest and spring of rib, level back. Moved true, soundly and with drive. Correct feet. Tail carried and furnished well. Overall a balanced bitch, really caught my eye BOB
2. Saich's Lindcoly Picture Perfect another quality bitch, just less mature at eighteen-months-old. More feminine in appearance. Good expression and eye set. Correct scissor bite. Well-angulated at both ends. Back level with good tail set and carriage. Moved well. Nice coat with good colour though not the substance and texture of one. RBOB

1. Saich's Lindcoly Ocean Dream three and a half-year-old dark grey brindle bitch. Good sized head with a definite stop. Correct scissor bite. Eyes dark with good eyebrow. Ears set well apart. Great depth of chest with well-sprung ribs. Back level with correct tail set carried well. Nice harsh coat in good colour. Lovely bend of stifle and well-muscled overall. Nice low hocks. Typical feet, slightly turning out at the front. Moved well though a little close at the rear.

1. Bishop's Ulmo Bohemia Des Hauteurs De La Sole At Kyntilly [IMP FRA] ten-month-old grey dog. Very mature and built with substance. Lovely big head with large teeth and a nice scissor bite. Ears well set and laid. Elegant neck showing plenty of strength. Well-laid shoulders with good spring of rib. Lovely arch to the topline. Nicely angulated at both ends with plenty of muscle. Moved with drive, just needs to settle a little more. A promising young dog BP

1. Weston's Wherrypoint Engelbert twenty-two-month-old dark grey dog. Moved beautifully, fantastic condition to the coat. Still quite dark, but he has a couple of months to lighten still. Nice head with big teeth and correct scissor bite. Ears of good size, set and carried well. Well-defined muscle and good angulation at both ends. Great shape to the brisket, decent spring of rib and a nice proportionate tuck up. Lovely length of loin with a nice arch to the topline which he kept on the move. BOB
2. Bishop's Moraira Abel At Kyntilly two-year-old grey dog with a nice big head and strong jaw. Good sized ears carrier and set well. Lovely, elegant neck with good strength. Nicely muscled and angulated at both ends. Typical feet of the correct size. Another beautiful topline with plenty of length to the loin and a nice tuck-up. Lovely greying to the coat. Will change places.
3. Fewings' Komidion Rhapsody in Ryme.

1. Fewings' Ch Komidion Passionato VW seven-year-old grey bitch, still in good colour. More compact and feminine, but proportionate and strong in appearance. Nice head with correctly laid ears of good size. Great strength to the neck leading into well-laid shoulders. Very well-muscled and nicely angulated overall. Correct feet of typical sizing. Nice length of loin with correct tuck-up. Tail set and carried well on the move. Would just like a little more weight on her. RBOB

1. Bradley's Pinleygreen Irish Star For Montelle ten-month-old wheaten bitch in cracking colour. Very mature and balanced in appearance. Great length to the head with the correct stop. Lovely ears well set and folded. Nice scissor bite. Good width to the neck with typical fringe. Good length to the chest. Nicely angulated at both ends with correct short pasterns. Nice strong feet. Overall proportionate and well balanced. Moved true, a promising young bitch. BP
2. Bradley's Montelle Flash Light seven-month-old red dog a little out of coat but full of quality. Gave his handler a challenge but shined once he settled. Lovely typical head with correct scissor bite. Great depth and length of chest with well-laid shoulders. Nicely angulated at both ends with strong feet. Moved beautifully once he settled. No doubt has a bright future.

1. Simons' Brucephela Quito Berry sixteen-month-old red dog. Masculine in appearance and well-built. Nice long flat head with correct lay and fold of ear. Good dark eye with correct scissor bite set in a good strong jaw. Great width to the neck with good depth and length of chest. Nicely angulated with correct short pasterns at both ends and typical foot. Lovely texture to the coat and presented well. Nice muscle tone. Moved a little close at the front on the day.

Good set and fold of ear with good dark eye. Correct scissor bite with a nice strong jaw. Great depth and length to the chest. Very well-angulated at both ends with nice short pasterns. Well-muscled and presented nicely with good texture to the coat. Moved true with drive and good tail carriage RBOB
2. Redman's Holbam Freya twenty-month-old red bitch, well-built with soundness throughout. Nice long head with good lay and fold of ear. Correct scissor bite. Lovely taper to the neck with typical fringe. Nice depth to the chest. Correct short pasterns with moderate angulation at both ends. Good colour to the coat. Just preferred the movement of one on the day

1. Atkin's Holbam Celtic Rose JW [A.I.] Twenty-month-old red bitch with a lovely typical narrowing to the head. Good dark eye with great expression and ear set. Nice taper to the neck leading into well-laid shoulders. Great depth to the chest making a definite underline. Well-angulated at both ends with lovely low hocks and strong feet. Moved true with great soundness, best mover on the day. Nicely muscled, in good coat and well presented. BOB Very pleased to hear she also won the group.
2. Redman's Holbam Celtic Little Minx five-year-old red bitch with a nice long head and typical stop. Correct scissor bite with a nice fold to the ear. Good width and taper to the neck. Nice length to the chest. Well angulated with good short pasterns at both ends and strong feet. Very happy on the move. Nice colour to the coat, unlucky to come up against one.
