Selby Canine Society

Thank you to Selby Canine Society for the invitation to judge the toy group at your lovely show. Thanks, must also go to the extremely hardworking stewards who ensured that the ring ran smoothly and efficiently. I was pleased with my entry of such lovely dogs and owners who accepted my decisions with good sportsmanship. The weather was not its best, with a rather cold breeze passing through the venue which I hope didn’t affect the exhibits or exhibitors too much.

Pug Puppy (1,0) 1. Reynolds Croftren Chasing Highs Quality 8-month-old fawn bitch with the most pleasing proportions. Square and cobby having enough substance for her age, correct round head with dark mask, large round eye. Stright front leading to tight feet, good spring of rib, with broad chest. Moved with purpose and charm in profile, holding her topline at all times, at one with her handler at all times. TPG3

Pug Junior (1,0) 1. Turnbulls Nicobri’s Lord of the Rings JW 15-month-old fawn up to size male. The most pleasing of heads, with dark mask and round clear eyes. Body of good proportions, straight front with well-muscled rear, with good angulation. A little unsettled at first on the move but when settled moved out in style.

Pug Open (1,0) 1. Reynolds and Morleys Afterglow I Dream of Jeannie at Lizlanmor Compact 17-month-old fawn bitch. Square and cobby she filled up the eye with plenty of bone and substance for her frame. Large head with dark mask, clear eyes with well defined fine wrinkling with an alert expression she oozed dignity and intelligence. Short neck leading to level topline, which she held at all times. Good front with ample fore chest, short back with good spring of rib. Moved out smoothly and true with unexaggerated roll. Presented in top condition. BOB TG1

Papillion puppy (4,1) 1. Hectors Springtime Sensations at Taisett Pretty tricolour 6-month-old bitch. Flashy girl with a lovely outline, level topline, good depth of chest with substance suitable for age. Presented and a soft expression with dark eyes and correct head proportions. Large mobile ears with fringing, coat of correct silky texture. dainty and well balanced. A little unsettled on the table and enthusiastic on the move but I could not deny her the class. 2. Proctors Springcroft Mardi Gras Tricolour 6-month-old dog with good head, lovely ear set and good furnishing on his ears. Straight front with correct hare like feet, level topline and good tail set. Little exuberant on the move, which should settle with age. Out moved by 1 3. Harles Debrilyn Cleopatra

Papillion Junior (1,0) 1. Hectors Caramel Dream Perlowy Raj at Taisett Red and white 11-month-old bitch. Small and compact she moved around the ring with grace beyond her young age, full of sparkle, straight front, and correct hare like feet, suitable depth of chest and level topline which was held on the move. Well feathered plume tail never stopped and she moved with a reach and drive off good hindquarters showing off her butterfly ears to best advantage. BPIB TPG4

Papillion Post Graduate (4,1) 1. Mowatts Iotastar’s Pride and Joy black and white 2-year-old bitch with plenty of breed type. Prettiest of refined heads, gently rounded skull and clear eyes, nicely proportioned. Presented in beautiful condition she moved around the ring effortlessly holding her profile at all times. 2. Harles Debrilyn Painted Lady Tricoloured 2 year old bitch. A little worried on the table but soon settled. Pretty head with lovely dark rounded eye. Fine muzzle with correct dentition. Nice size with medium length of neck and well laid shoulders. Held topline on the move with light positive motion. 3. Proctors Lynflyer Rainbow Catcher

Papillion Open (3,1) 1. Mowatts Iotastar’s Brave New World Tricolour 7-year-old dog. A fine and dainty dog with lots to like. Overall he is well balanced and compact. Finest of heads with slightly rounded skull, good length of muzzle and correct scissor bite with large well-fringed ears. Presented in great condition with the silkiest of coats. Lovely intelligent expression. Good angulation and well-set tail with plume. Moved out with purpose holding his profile at all times. BOB 2. Proctors Lynflyer Rainbow Catcher Red and white 3-year-old bitch presented in great condition. Larger than 1 though still very much in proportion. Pleasing head with slightly rounded skull, dark eyes and correct scissor bite with finely pointed muzzle. Medium length neck leading to sloping shoulders, with good depth of cheat. Moved ok. I think her mind was elsewhere today.

Pomeranian Puppy (3,2) 1. Creggs Lireva’s Magical Dream Orange 10-month-old dog that exudes ring presence. Short coupled dog with correct proportions. Typical pom deportment and buoyancy. Pretty head with fine muzzle with foxy outline. Dark clear eyes, defined stop with well set on small ears completing the picture. Short neck with straight front and tight cat-like feet. Coat of the correct harsh texture suitable for age. High set tail carried well over the back. Moved elegantly and confidently around the ring. Shows much promise for the future BOB BPIB TG3 TPG2

Pomeranian Open (3,1) 1. Creggs Edkbangles Zennia Orange 2-year-old bitch. Out of coat on the day, but she has nothing to hide. Compact and dainty with a feminine head she showed her typical pom extroverted attitude. Head has the correct fox-like profile, refined muzzle with correct dentition. Clear dark eyes, defined stop with small well set on ears. Straight front and tight feet, good topline and high set tail.

Chihuahua (long coat) puppy (1,0) 1. Entwistles Dorenty Textututango Attractive 9-month-old cream bitch with a most pleasing head piece enhanced by the darkest pigment. Large clear eyes draw you in, behaved with wisdom beyond her young age. Small dainty and compact, presented with the correct coat texture and not overcoated as some are. Lovely outline, with correct sickle tail. Moved well BPIB

Chihuahua (long coat) Open (2,0) 1. Entwistles Ch Dorentys Heidi Hi Smart, outgoing 4 year old cream bitch. Please to find she was surprisingly cobby under her soft coat, framed with appropriate ear fringing and well-coated sickle tail. Prettiest of heads with large dark eyes and darkest of pigment. Good straight front and well angulated, muscular rear meant it was no surprise when she moved out with ease and deportment. BOB TG4 2. Rushton & Changs Yensha’s Renegade Cream sable 18-month-old dog, larger than 1, with more substance. Good head with large clear round eye, tapered muzzle and well-set ears. Well trained he moved out at one with his handler.

Chihuahua (smooth coat) puppy (1,0) 1. Holmes Cazants Red Adair Red and white 7-moth-old dog of the correct proportions. Good rib with level topline, sickle tail. A little unsure on the table but soon settled. Good sized skull with well set ears. Moves and shows to good advantage. BPIB

Turnbulls Sunlea Bouncing Back from Prinleigh Attractive 16-month-old fawn dog with good head and expression, clean, dark round eyes with tapered muzzle and good dentition. Alert and keen and she makes good use of her neck. Good depth of chest and well ribbed. Tight feet with straight front. Very composed on the move with profile held at all times 2. Woods Frasma’s Stellina for Nareselm Pretty 14-month-old bitch pleasing for both balance and type. Nicely arched neck, compact body, level topline and nicely angulated quarters. Chihuahua (smooth coat) Post Graduate (2,0) 1. Entwistles Dorenty’s Arfa Sixpence Fawn Sable 2-year-old pleasing male of the correct proportions. Attractive forequarters with well laid shoulders leading into straight forelegs. Good depth of chest with ribs well sprung. Neck of correct length with slight arch, level topline and sickle tail held well over. Well-muscled rear with stifles well bent. Moved with confidence, holding his topline and showing both reach and drive. BOB 2. Turnbulls Sunlea Bouncing Back from Prinleigh (see Chihuahua smooth coat junior)

Chihuahua (smooth coat) Open (2,1) 1. Entwistles Cazants the Geisha Luvs Dorenty Lovely 3-year-old cream bitch. Cobby and compact with well laid shoulders and straight front into tight feet. Pleasing head of correct proportions with large dark round eyes, short muzzle and well-set ears of proportionate size. Moved around the ring with drive.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy (1,0) 1. Kilcoynes Granasil Little Bird Told Me Spritely 7-month-old ruby bitch with lots to like. Presented in excellent condition, silky coat with the sweetest of temperaments. Typey head with lovely dark eyes, dark pigment, muzzle well tapered and well filled out under eye. Moved out well in profile, holding her topline at all times.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Junior (2,0) 1. Colavecchias Carolus Camilla Typey 17-month-old well balanced Blenheim bitch. Captured my eye as soon as she entered the ring. Evenly marked with desired lozenge mark. Correct proportions throughout with moderate breadth of chest, straight front with well cushioned feet, with well-muscled rear. Large dark wyes with dark pigment, well filled out under eye, correct set ears with plenty of feather. She moved out freely with elegance and style BOB 2. Cryers Fortunamajor Spooktacular 1 year old Blenheim male, larger than one and not quite in the same condition. Good head shape with large dark eyes, well set on ears, lovely in profile showing his correct length of neck into well placed shoulders, moved ok.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Post Graduate (4,0) 1. Bacons Frondil Martha Chance at Timbric Pretty 3-year-old Blenheim bitch, with well broken markings. A little out of coat but she has nothing to hide. Correct scissor bite, dark round eyes providing a soft expression, well set ears and good feathering. Well filled out under eye. Good angulation to front and rear and good bone. Moved well around the ring. 2. Walkers Stavonga Skylark Kayceekay 3-year-old Blenheim male with good proportions. Evenly marked with desired lozenge, coat of correct texture and in all the right places. Preferred the pigment of 1. 3. Kilcoynes Granasil Tea Leaf 4. Eccles Llapsttam Get Knotted

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Open (3,0) 1. Colaveccias Carolus Miss Elsie Sweet 6-year-old Blenheim bitch with typical cavalier attitude. Compact and cobby, on the smaller side she was well made and balanced throughout. Feminine head, with dark round eye and pigmentation giving a soft expression. Well developed through the body, with a firm level topline, with a well set on tail which was in constant use. Was at one with her handler. 2. Walkers Stavonga Sky Walker Kayceekay JW, OSW, ShCEx Pretty 3-year-old Blenheim male with masculine yet soft expression. Flat skull with high set ears of good length that frame the face. Neck of ok length leading into level topline, another with a tail that didn’t stop wagging. 3. Eccles Llapsttam Get Knotted

Any Variety Not Separately Classified (AVNSC) Puppy (6,2) 1. Stoners Kericrest’s Bucket List Maltese 6-month-old dog who has been here before. Composed and full of self-importance he owned the ring. Pleasing head with dark oval eyes, encased in dark pigment. Ample neck which he used to his advantage on the move, holding his topline steady at all times on the move. Moved out with reach and drive. 2. Pattersons Moonwhispers Practical Magic at Bratilda (IKC) Pekinese Handsome black 7-month-old puppy with ring presence beyond his young age. Most pleasing of heads with dark eye, open nostril well-placed ears, and firm underjaw. Pleasing outline with correct neck, bone & body. Harsh coat, presented well. Picked up heavy. Moved out well, holding his outline moving without effort in a gentle rolling gait. 3. Morley & Hitchcocks Justacharma Magic Trix for Lizlanmor King Charles Spaniel 4. Crosslands Wykewoks Tiny Nanogram English Toy Terrier 14-month-old bitch who was a little unsettled, lovely thumbprint markings, compact in size, with good muscle tone, correct candle flame ear complementing an attractive wedge shaped head.

Super head piece with dark clear eye showing correct expression. High set, small ears. Short back with firm level topline, high set tail curved over the back. Good angles front and rear. Moved well out and back. Harsh coat of the correct texture, deep colour and well presented. 2. Pattersons Bratilda Lightening Boy Pekinese 2-year-old fawn dog, compact with large wide envelope head.
