1st Whittington’s Culverwell Magic Touch – 6 month old orange belton is very raw but showing so much potential. Slight dome to skull, long muzzle in proportion to skull. Lovely lay back of shoulder and standing on tight feet. Good depth to chest and moved true showing reach and drive while holding a level topline with tail set on slight slope to croup. RBOB & BP

2nd Oliver’s Wansleydale Bee Happy at Bramstorm – 9 month old blue tri bitch, on the smaller side and she wasn’t very confident today. Lovely head with dark eye and OK bone for size. Lovely coat developing. Her lack of confidence today came through in her movement, but I’m sure this will come.

1st Whittington’s Juldeane Line of Duty (AI) – 4 year old orange belton broad in skull and long muzzle. Dark eye and good bone with tight feet. Lovely neck and strong, level topline leading to slight slope to croup. Well angulated fore and rear and moved true. Chest well developed. BOB

1st Tye’s Roydack Black Knight at Tymora – 7 months and still very raw and rangy, he will be slow to mature. Strong head, square end to muzzle with lovely dark eye and ears set level with eye. Standing on tight feet and a strong, firm level topline. He has some great foundations. Movement was typical for 7 month setter puppy, demonstrating he could bring his body together to show reach and drive. BP

1st Saniford & Mazzeo’s Eusanit Marcella – 20 month bitch on the smaller side but perfectly in proportion. I love her head, feminine with quare end to muzzle. Compact feet and firm, level topline. Good depth of chest for age. She excels in profile movement, free flowing and long striding and in the challenge for BOB, she steadied herself to show clean and true rear movement to take RBOB

1st Sandiford & Mazzeo’s Hernwood Christrmas Prince – 5 year old mature dog of good size. Heavy and strong head with dark eye and ears set level with eye. Correct bone and compact feet, he has a level topline and tail set on. Well angulated fore & aft and good width of thigh. Move well and true. BOB

2nd Upton-Lovett & Upton’s Roydack Portrait Of A Lady – Finer throughout she poses an elegant and symmetrical outline. Muzzle longer than skull and good flews. Level topline and well ribbed back with short, strong loin. Neck strong and standing on neat, tight feet. Moved well from all angles.

1st Gisby’s Marlland Lily On The Valley by Suteresett (Imp NLD) – My notes start “what a lovely pup!” And she sure was. Just 7 months old but depicts that racey outline of an Irish Setter. Lean head, dark round eye and lovely skull. Straight front legs and good feet. Her angulation is spot on and good depth of chest and spring of rib for her age. A slightly sloping topline and moved well and true. A Pup with so much potential, she just lost out on BOB to her mature sire today. RBOB & BP

1st Gisby’s Suteresett Rum Tum Tugger – 5 year old and fully mature. Lean in the head with ears set level with dark eye. Good bone and tight feet he has a good lay back of shoulder and long upper arm. Depth of chest to elbow and correct, slightly sloping topline, a tail set on slight slope to croup. Good turn of stifle. BOB

1st Barham’s Alozia Zephryne – 9 month liver & white bitch. Lovley head with almond shaped eye. Sufficient length of neck and OK angulation. Level topline and strong loin. Very raw pup and gave her handler a hard time. She needs to strengthen on the move but a promising pup. BP

Junior (1,0)

1st Norbury & Ganney’s Heartbury Matador - 15 month Orange & white male. Broad skull with dark eye and well defined stop. Lovley front assembly and good forechest. Straight legs and short pasterns with compact, arched toes. Strong topline and muscular loin with deep chest. Good rear construction and moves well in profile.

1st Welch, Drake & Hazeltine’s Clamerkin Jubilee Surprise at Hookwood – 20 months black & white bitch with a lovely outline of graceful curves, she is a well balanced bitch. Correct head and dark eye with melting expression. Correct underline and well constructed fore and aft which showed in her reach and drive on the move.

2nd Roberts’ Kananaskis Band Of Gold – Upstanding and squarer in appearance, this orange & white dog has a strong head with broad skull and good muzzle features. Moved well with reach and drive due to his correct angulation.

3rd Barham’s Droveborough’s Mocha Mayhem

This was a lovely class of pointers and was one of those where I loved all 5 that were present.

1st Norbury & Adams’ Heartbury Northern Lights JW – This orange & white bitch has a beautiful outline and is so well made with balance throughout. Her movement was free flowing and clean from all angles which helped her top this class. Feminine head with broad skull, correct muzzle and dark eye. Tight and compact feet with well arched toes. Good depth of chest and spring of rib and muscular loin. BOB

2nd Welch’s Hookwood Starman JW – Black & white male with good angulation and depth of chest, with well strong ribs. Good bone and strong topline and short loin, his outline a series of graceful curves. Covering ground on the move, he was called in for RBOB

1st Taylor-Kistner’s Merry Cocktails Spice of Life at Frieljoanipa (Imp Swe) – Nearly 12 months old and had the maturity in body today over the others. Good sprig of rib and depth of chest. Compact in body with level topline and short loin. Standing on tight feet she moved well with lovely tail carriage. BP

2nd Glendinning’s Plaiglen Mojito – 10 month male who was very raw but showing lots of potential. Nice head with slight stop and lean throughout. Level topline and short loin. He is made well and moves well when he puts his mind to it.

1st Kotanen’s Yokotai Queen of Chaos – Lovely head and shape with dark eye and low set ears. This blue roan bitch was beautiful to go over with her balanced construction. Well developed chest and loin short, wide and firm. Merry tail set on slight slope to croup. She is true on the move with reach and drive. Today I couldn’t deny her BOB

2nd Brown’s Popebel Limited Edition – 15 month blue roan bitch has a lovely head with dark eye ad low set ears. Coby and compact body she is made well but not as free on the move as 1st.

3rd Taylor-Kistner’s Merry Cocktails Spice of Life at Frieljoanipa (Imp Swe)

1st Hutton-Baber’s Esqueem I’m Iconic for Babtomkelpi (Imp Pol) – Black & white bitch who has a lovely front construction which won her this class. Heavier in head than I prefer but still to standard with square muzzle and distinct stop. Ears set on low by dark eye. She has cat-like feet and strong level topline with breadth in chest and loin. Moved well with her well correct construction.

2nd Griffin’s Griffial Make It Count JW – This blue roan bitch moves true with good reach and drive. Slightly longer cast through the body than my winner. Dark in eye and with correct ears.

1st Kotanen’s Fin Ch Triplet Queen of Queens (Imp Fin) – Blue roan bitch of lovely size. She moves true from all angles and well constructed fore & aft. Feminine head with dark eye and good ears, Straight front legs and well laid back shoulder. Strong, short topline, good underline and tail set on a slight slope to croup. RBOB

2nd Hutton-Baber’s Esqueem Following Star at Babtomkelpi (Imp Pol) – Heavier set bitch but everything balanced and in proportion. Good bone and compact shape. Lovely head and features and she moved true fore & aft with good profile, covering the ground well.

1st Kingham’s Nandobears Against All Odds – 8 month old presents a lovely outline. Square muzzle, broad skull and dark eye with well set triangular ears. Standing on large feet with good bone he moved well for age and held tail well on the move. Just needs to tighten and come together, which I am sure he will with age. RBOB & BP

2nd Hosie’s Shadowrise Wild Fire – 11 month bitch on the finer side for me, but sufficient. Level topline on the stand and move. Head broad with short muzzle and good ear shape and set. Moved OK.

1st Hosie’s King of Helluland Jungle Book at Shadowrise (Imp SVK) – 12 month black male, a lovely dog with a fantastic outline and lovely to go over with well laid back shoulders and flowing through to his well built and strong rear. Deep chest with strong, level topline. He moved well with tail carrier out. BOB and was pleased to see him again in the BIS line up after taking WG1

A fantastic class full of quality British & Irish Native Vulnerable Breeds. A credit to the owners and breeders dedicated to these numerically small breeds.

1st Ruffles’ Holbam Midsummer Knight at Ruffmar (AI) JW – Irish Terrier – 20 month male full of style and presence. Balanced with clean lines in outline. Head long with flat skull with high set ears and dark eye. Lovley front assembly and strong and straight back to high set tail. True on the move showing straight and parallel fore and hind legs. Shown in muscular condition and handled to advantage.

2nd Gaylor & Robertson’s Heniveruce King Of Brewers for Aprilflash - Spaniel (Welsh Springer) – I’ve done this dog well already this year and he didn’t disappoint today. He has strength throughout. Masculine head with dark eye and correct ears, slightly domed skull and medium length muzzle which was fairly square. Strong, muscular neck leading to sloping shoulders. Deep in brisket with well-sprung ribs. Muscular, well arched loin and tail set on low, carried level with the back. Moved well.

Phillips’ Summerview Hello Hugo JW – Dachshund (Min Long-Haired) – This young black and tan dog kept showing from the moment he entered the ring with his free and flowing long stride and tail held as a continuous line of the spine. To go over he was balanced, made correctly, well-muscled and coat in great condition. A robust dog for his size I couldn’t deny him top honours today.

Chessell’s Araki Areu The Queen of Bees for Stylaxian JW – Tibetan Terrier – A square outline, well balanced bitch of medium size. She has a beautiful head and dark, round eyes. She moved with effortless stride demonstrating reach and drive, and presented in top condition with a lovely coat and muscular condition.

Leonard’s Ambersun Summersault Back to Wynrita – Retriever (Golden) – This girl has a balanced and well chiselled head and a broad skull without coarseness to retain her femininity. Low set ears against dark eyes. She has a lovely depth of chest and well laid back shoulders and return of upper arm to compliment. Her topline level and continued to hold it on the move. Tail set on level with back and her movement was easy and free, especially for one so young.

Spalding’s Brownieglen Hot Spoon Trix – Welsh Corgi (Pembroke) – The breed standard calls for outgoing and friendly, and even at the end of the day this could still be seen in bucket loads! A strong, sturdy dog with a foxy head, alert and intelligent expression shown through his round eyes. Medium length with well sprung ribs for age and level topline. Free and active on the move showing balance from his construction.

Burrage’s Ch Komidion Prima Donna of Sametova ShCEX VW - (Cesky Terrier) – Also in my BIS lineup where I considered her for top honours, I was pleased to see her again in the Veteran lineup. Giving the impression of a hardy terrier, she has so many breed traits to admire. Her relatively long head with a slightly arched skull set on an elegant but strong neck, leading to well laid back shoulders and a typical breed topline with a slight rise to the loin. Her movement was brisk with plenty of drive and true fore and aft.

Saich’s Ir Ch Lindcoly Mischief Maker – German Spitz (Mittel) – This black dog is easy to miss in a line up, until you get your hands on. Super balanced construction on a compact body. On the move he is straight coming and going and balanced, brisk and effortless in side gait. His black coat still in great condition, off-standing over the shoulders and perfectly straight top coat.
