I would like to thank the committee of Oswestry & District Kennel Association Open Show for inviting me to judge Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, and my steward for assisting in the ring. I would also like to thank all the exhibitors for bringing their dogs for me to go over. It was a well organised show and I enjoyed this judging appointment.

Best Puppy in Breed: Lorankas Bryn Terfel at Gerallyn

Puppy Dog: (1,0)

1st Carr-Tomlinson’s Lorankas Bryn Terfel at Gerallyn. 10 month old well broken Tricolour puppy dog. Well presented with silky coat. Large dark eyes, correct teeth, masculine head. Good bone and well angulated. Animated and attentive to handler. Moved well around the ring. Best Puppy Dog & Best Puppy. Went on to achieve Puppy Group 2.

Junior Dog: (1,0)

1st Taylor’s Luvtayls Newsflash. 14 month old Blenheim dog. A very masculine boy with quite long coat. Dark eyes, good pigment, well feathered leathers and soft expression. Rich chestnut markings and Blenheim spot. Good topline which he held on the move and on the stand. Good front and rear angulation.

Post Graduate Dog: (2,0)

1st Taylor’s Luvtayl Rave About. 19 month old Blenheim dog. A dog I have judged before and he has matured beautifully. Well broken markings and very well presented. Lovely head with round, dark eyes set well apart, good leathers, skull almost flat between the ears, very appealing soft expression. Good angles to front and rear and excellent topline at all times. Good bone. Moved with reach and drive. Best Dog & Best of Breed. Went on to achieve Group 4.

2nd Owen’s Hansowens Star of India Narayden. 19 month old Black & Tan dog. Another lovely exhibit with soft expression, happy temperament and plenty of raven black coat with tan in the correct places. Good front assembly. Preferred the movement of 1 today.

Open Dog: (1,1)

Puppy Bitch: (2,0)

1st Key’s Lyndabelle Indigo Rose. 8 month old Black & Tan puppy bitch. Very raw. Pretty head with soft expression and dark eyes. Good coat condition, level topline and good rear angulation. Moved best in this class. Needs time to mature.

2nd Mann’s Loranka’s Pandora Charm. 9 month old Black & Tan puppy bitch. Well balanced. Nice head with round dark eyes, good cushioning, good length of muzzle. Another very raw exhibit with less coat than 1. Movement hard to see but ok when settled.

Junior Bitch: (4,1)

1st Key’s Eikandi Ginger Spice. 13 month old ruby bitch. Beautifully presented with silky, gleaming rich red coat. Lovely head with soft melting expression, dark eyes, good cushioning and correct dentition. Well angulated with good bone. Moved well once settled. Nice profile on the stand.

2nd Taylor’s Luvtayl Fireflash Rose. 17 month old Blenheim bitch. Presented in great condition. Rich chestnut markings, well broken on a pearly white ground. Pretty head with good pigment and correct teeth. Typical Cavalier personality – animated and happy. Not as settled on the move as 1.

Post Graduate Bitch: (6,1)

1st Taylor’s Luvtayl’s Flashdance. 19 month old Tricolour bitch. Well balanced and presented in immaculate condition with plenty of soft, silky coat. Heavier marked with tan in the correct places. Lovely head with round dark eyes, correct earset, skull almost flat between ears, good length of muzzle and soft expression. Good front and rear assembly and super topline and tailset. A lovely size and shape. She moved around the ring with good reach and drive. Best Bitch & RBOB

2nd Williams’ Granasil Tea House Moon on Sancana. 18 month old Black & Tan bitch. Another lovely exhibit who pushed hard for 1st place and could change places on another day. Beautifully presented with raven black silky coat and bright tan in the correct places. Lovely head with large dark eyes and soft melting expression. Animated and happy, wanting to please her handler. Less mature than 1. Moved very well.

Open Bitch: (4,2)

1st Williams’ Charnell Gintastic for Sancana. 2 year old Blenheim bitch. Beautifully presented with rich chestnut markings on a pearly white ground. Lovely head and soft expression, good dentition, correct earset and good pigmentation. Very animated and happy. Well angulated and moved gracefully around the ring.

2nd Taylor’s Luvtayl Reach Out in Faith. 3 year old Tricolour bitch. Another beautifully presented exhibit from this kennel. Heavier marked with tan in the correct places. Lovely size and shape. Lovely head with soft expression and correct earset. Level topline which she held at all times. Needs more animation.
