Siberian Husky
P (2 1) 1. Simms’ Nesslands One In A Million at Arcticskies. Charming, well balanced puppy of almost 9 months. Her head was in proportion to body and of good shape from all angles. She didn’t use her ears so well at the start but soon got the hang of it! Crested neck which was of good length set well into a well laid shoulder with correct angle at upper arm. Front on she had enough width for function with pleasing depth of chest, standing on good bone and feet. I liked her topline, correctly arched loin and pleasing croup. A free and easy mover who was true from all angles I thought her a very honest young lady who held her own. So much so that not only was she Best Puppy but also Reserve Best of Breed.
J (2) 1. Simms’ Nesslands One In A Million at Arcticskies. 2. Johnson’s Atlanticbreeze Bailey By Lupinemoon (AI) (IKC). Well proportioned masculine young lad of almost 17 months who, going through a typical rangy phase on the day, gave something away to the winner, needing to develop in body and frame as he matures on. Pleasing bone, shoulder and stifle with correct topline and loin. He was sound and steady on the move, but again has time to mature and tighten all over.
PG (2) 1. Johnson’s Atlanticbreeze Bailey By Lupinemoon (AI) (IKC). 2. Johnson’s Kentwone Shooter at Lupinemoon. 2 year old male who was stronger all through than the winner both in frame and bone. I liked his head with lovely eye and typical expression. Good length of neck, but not quite as well set as the winner, although this was mitigated by good ribbing and loin. Strong hindquarters which had good turn of stifle both evident on the move.
O (3) 1. Simms’ Ch. Sutarka’s Angelica at Arcticskies JW. Attractive lady with a lovely head and expression; it was so well proportioned and enhanced by super eye both for set and colour. I particularly liked the flowing, clean line through her length of neck into wither and topline. She scored well in front with just enough width and depth, supported by good bone and feet. Lovely lay back of shoulder and at the rear she was strong with well angulated hindquarters. Her movement was clean, workmanlike yet light of foot. I was pleased to award her Best of Breed. 2. Tinker’s Multi Ch. Zaltana Kiss My Paws at Lolotea JW (Imp Pol). Masculine boy and another with a pleasing head and expression. Very good front on for depth and width of chest with straight legs and correct feet. His neck was set well into body and he had good rib and loin. His angles fore and aft pleased me and lent themselves well to good movement and carriage around the ring. I just preferred the length of body and finesse of the winner. 3. Snelson’s Azgard Monticristo at Ashtrax.
Newfoundland
P (2) 1. Hosie’s King of Helluland Jungle Book at Shadowrise (Imp SVK). 9 months old black boy who was the more balanced of the two puppies in this class, being stronger in topline and croup. Lovely head with short foreface and pleasing square proportions when viewed front on. Excellent dark eye. He was fairly well developed in chest and body with pleasing angulation at point of shoulder and through stifles. He had lovely strong bone which supported his frame. On the move he was sound and steady with enough drive behind, but as one would expect with a giant breed of this age he needs to tighten all round in movement as he grows on. A good puppy who deserved his Best Puppy in Breed today. 2. Leech’s The Black Star Sapphires Uptown Funk Mileoak. Chunky landseer boy, shorter coupled than the winner and I liked his head in profile for its strength, shape and proportions. He was just 6 months and with such huge bone could not yet match the feet of the winner. Neck flowed cleanly into wither and his shoulders were well laid. Pleasing underline and turn of stifle, the latter enabling him to move soundly around the ring. With such huge bone I felt that he will benefit from plenty of time to come into his own.
J (5 2) I particularly liked 1 & 2 in this class and thought both very promising with little between them on the day. It will be interesting to see them fully mature. 1. Leech & Moir’s Elgrandbear Razz Ma Tazz. Black male and whilst he was only 12 months he presented a solid and square outline which was both masculine and substantial. Strong head of good shape from all angles although I would have preferred a tighter eye. His neck was of good strength, set cleanly into wither and his angles fore and aft pleased me together with his good croup. Good topline and unsurprisingly I felt he would benefit from developing more in chest and body with maturity. Moved out well holding his outline. I was pleased to award him Best of Breed. 2. Coldwell’s Twillin Gate Villustrious Among Zentaur (Imp Bel). Lovely big black girl of 13 months who filled my eye. Again, scored in head, neck, shoulder, bone and feet and I preferred her eye to that of the winner. Like the winner she also needs to develop more in chest, but has good width and was lovely to go over. Excellent strength to her rump with lovely croup. I found her to be slightly longer cast than the winner and obviously having gone through a growth spurt needed to level off in topline. Sound and easy mover this lovely girl will have time on her side and I trust shall be worth the wait as she finishes. So close up to the winner I had no hesitation in awarding her Reserve Best of Breed. 3. Constables Valhalabears Just In Time.
PG (3) 1. Coldwell’s Twillin Gate Villustrious Among Zentaur (Imp Bel). 2. Owles, Owles & Bristow’s Zentaur Fizzical Therapy. Black dog of 2 ½ years who appealed to me for his strength, size, substance and fairly mature outline. Not quite the head of the winner, but it was in proportion to body and mounted on a good, strong neck. Overall I found him to be well balanced but I would have preferred a slightly stronger croup. Well developed quarters which were of good angulation and lovely depth to chest and body throughout, coupled together by a strong topline. Steady and sound on the move 3. Popple’s Mileoak Loch Noir.

P (1) 1. Smith’s Belleville Snooze You Lose, Portuguese Water Dog. Super puppy bitch of almost 9 months I liked everything about her. Already a star and she knew it! Excellent square outline, she looked at me head on in front from a well shaped skull with excellent muzzle, dentition eye and expression. True in front with chest and body developing nicely for age. Excellent topline and underline were complimented by correct angles fore and aft. On the move she was light of foot, yet displayed athleticism. She did not stop showing all day. I shall certainly follow her career with interest. She pushed very hard in the challenge and more than deserved Reserve Best AVNSC and Best AVNSC Puppy.
J (1) 1. Thompson-Morgan & Morgan’s Belleville Salva Vidas. Portguese Water Dog. 15 month old dog who I thought presented an outline typical of his age being reasonably well balanced but needing to fill his frame and drop into his angles. Pleasing length and width of muzzle but I would have preferred a little more strength and depth to this for his sex. Lovely dentition. Good straight legs and correct underline. Typical teenage movement which has time to tighten with maturity.
O (4 1) 1. Thompson-Morgan & Morgan’s Ch. Belleville Anjo De Noite. Portuguese Water Dog. Stylish and showy 12 year old Brown girl who was still very much fit for function in each competition where she appeared before me. Striking outline enhanced by her noble carriage from a correct neck of good length and set. Excellent topline and enough sweep of underline she was also lovely to go over being presented in super condition. I liked her head from all angles and lovely width of muzzle which was strong and in proportion to backskull and she has retained good dentition. So easy on the move, with head and tail held high she was very eyecatching and it was a great pleasure to award her Best AVNSC. Delighted to learn later that she is the great granddam of the puppy and granddam of junior. 2. Wright’s Tombears Mister Barista. St. Bernard. 4 year old orange and white male who being a big lad and so well boned impressed me with his easy, sound and unencumbered movement. Very strong head with good dentition, breadth of muzzle and broad, slightly rounded skull. Good rib, he was pleasing to go over being put down in good condition. Lovely big, strong bone. I would have preferred greater angulation at shoulder and stifle, but when free-standing himself this was not of too much concern 3. Davies’ Alfross Kapuko Aelius. Leonberger.

P (6 3) A very impressive trio of puppies; I thought them all of considerable merit. 1. Smith’s Belleville Snooze You Lose, Portuguese Water Dog. 2. Pollard’s Shalissa’s Hot Toddy at Whizzbean. Dobermann girl of 9 months who presented an impressive outline for one so young; clean, flowing, no hard angles and totally free from exaggeration. Lovely wedge shaped head from all angles which was feminine yet strong. A touch heavy in ear, but she could grow into these! Excellent length of neck free from loose skin and already had pleasing depth of chest. Straight legs and super feet. Her topline was firm and not too long. I liked her correctly angled quarters which she used to advantage on the move. She pressed the very showy PWD very hard. Lovely girl. 3. Topham & Maltas’ Virlees Infatuation. Rottweiler.
O (2 1) 1. Constables Valhalabears Just In Time. Brown Newfoundland girl of 14 months. I liked her head for make and shape together with her angles fore and aft which were even and open. Pleasing in neck and topline, but I would like greater size, substance and strength throughout the last of which affected movement particularly at the rear. These attributes may improve with age. She obviously had virtues but needs to learn the role of the showgirl to present them to advantage as she grows on.
V (10 1) Another very good class, made all the better that it was veteran. A number of those exhibited could change places on another day and in a different ring. It was a genuine pleasure to judge this class. 1. Thompson-Morgan & Morgan’s Ch. Belleville Anjo De Noite. Portuguese Water Dog. 2. Simms’ NL CH. Snowmists Isaac at Arcticskies JW (Imp Can). Siberian Husky. I found this 7 ½ year old chap to be quite handsome and demonstrating a good balance between strength and athleticism so as to be fit for function. He had good length of body to height ratio and pleasing length of leg to depth of body. Just the right amount of angulation fore and aft and textbook topline. I particularly liked his head which was true from all angles and mounted on a lovely neck which was set well. Lithe and light on the move, but purposeful. It was a very close decision between him and the winner, I just thought the PWD pulled out all the stops. 3. Lainchbury’s Ch. Ashlain Trypiti JW. Dobermann
Working Group
1. Portuguese Water Dog, Thompson-Morgan & Morgan’s Ch. Belleville Anjo De Noite. 2. Dobermann, Fletcher’s Scaria Whisper of Hope Brown alpha male of 23 months with a powerful outline which although strong did not lack the elegance and clean lines asked of in the standard. I liked his overall balance with just enough angulation of shoulder and stifle and all held together by a correct length of firm back, ribbing and loin. Very good length of leg to depth of body I found him to be maturing very well. Well proportioned head with clean lips and set on a good length of neck, but a touch untidy in throat. He was well presented in excellent condition with terrific musculature. Sound as a bell on the move with pleasing action. 3. Siberian Husky, Simms’ Ch. Sutarka’s Angelica at Arcticskies JW 4. Great Dane, Ingram’s Homer Simpson Vom Kleinen Feenwald with Dainmajik (Imp Deu) Upstanding, young, well marked harlequin male of 16 ½ months who pleased me for size and bone. Excellent length of leg which supported a body of reasonable shape and balance for his age, he was a big boy free from exaggeration. Strong head with correct length of foreface with pleasing width of muzzle as compared to backskull. I liked his length of neck which flowed cleanly into wither and well laid shoulders. I thought he had all the essentials but obviously needs to develop a little more in chest and hind angulation as he finishes. He had a great length of stride on the move making full use of the ring and was true on the out and back.

1. Smith’s Belleville Snooze You Lose, Portuguese Water Dog. 2. Siberain Husky, Simms’ Nesslands One In A Million at Arcticskies. 3. Newfoundland, Hosie’s King of Helluland Jungle Book at Shadowrise (Imp SVK). 4. Great Dane, Simpson’s Renescent Fugget About It. 6 ½ month blue baby girl who had already matured in confidence since I judged her earlier in the month. Elegant and feminine in outline with a lovely headpiece of good shape from all angles with lovely eye. She stood on a true straight front with very good feet. Firm in topline if a little long cast for perfect balance but she was in no way loose in loin. Angles fore and aft were developing nicely. Movement was typical of a puppy Dane and a little erratic, but she was sound and held her outline when she got into her stride. She will take time.
