Bernese Mountain Dog. P (2) 1. Flanagan’s Collansues Fine Arts. 11 month old puppy girl who had lovely strength and depth to quarters and I thought was filling out nicely. I liked her head properties; its shape being in proportion to body with good strength to jaw and pleasing expression. She stood on good bone, legs and feet. Her body was reasonably well balanced and she had a firm topline, but lacked some rear angulation today (not unexpected given her age). This notwithstanding her hindquarters were of strength and width and she used them on the move. Fairly tidy in profile gait but tended to roll. A large breed I felt there was a lot more time for this girl to come into her own. Best Puppy. 2. Lovell’s Angelrain Deep Dreamer. Well boned puppy dog of 6 months. Very dep in stop and not quite the head of the winner. Good length of muzzle and dentition. Angles developing nicely for age and reasonable well balanced with his quarters being evenly matched for width. Nice chunky lad he needs to develop in body and fill out in chest and brisket. Held his topline well on the stand. He was quite erratic on the move which made it difficult to assess, but plenty of time for this to tighten up all round as he matures into his frame.

J (3) 1. Trim’s Angelrain Curacao Punch. Strong and sturdy boy 18 months on the day. He had well developed quarters for his age, the angles of which complemented each other fairly well. He was presented in good muscular condition and this evident in his strong coupling and very pleasing level topline. His head was strong, yet in proportion to body, balanced with well defined stop. He stood on good bone and I was very pleased with his front which was fulsome with lovely depth of chest of width. He moved out well carrying with good reach in front holding his topline throughout, but I should like him to tighten in hind movement to fulfil his potential as he matures.  2. Flannagan’s Collansues Fine Arts  3. Cox’s Angelrain Cosmopolitan

PG (1) 1. Rothery’s Prinss Vom Durrbachler Wald for Glamrock (Imp Nld). Well balanced male of 18 moths who I found to be free from exaggeration. Appealing head and expression which was well proportioned with pleasing length to muzzle, flat skull and good stop. His neck was of good length, carriage and set. He had strength to bone with adequate depth and width of chest. His angulation fore and aft pleased me and he had a strong topline and fulsome croup. Overall he presented a pleasing, clean outline yet without compromising his masculinity. In profile he moved out well and easily with workmanlike function but a little close when moving away from me, although at his age this is likely to improve with maturity. A nice lad I was pleased to award him Reserve Best of Breed.

O (2) 1. Goodyear’s Ch. Harvestbank Just One Kiss. Lovely example of the breed who I have had the pleasure of judging before. Now mature at 4 years old and I was unsurprised to learn that she has her crown. In profile she could not fail to stand foursquare with correct angulation of shoulder and stifle, correct length of back which was firm and level. Lovely height to body length ratio she had a pleasing depth of chest which carried through her body of adequate width throughout. She scored highly in bone and feet. Sound, functional mover maintaining her outline in profile with excellent tail carriage. It was a pleasure to award her Best of Breed. 2. Goodyear’s Harvestbank Indian Summer .7 year old dam of Just One Kiss and another I have judged before. She had strength to head with lovely jaw and taken overall it was in good proportion to her body which was of pleasing make and shape. Strong neck of correct length which was well set into wither allowing a clean flow into a strong, level topline. Her angles fore and aft appealed and she had a good width of body. Good length of leg and strength to bone. She moved out easily with purpose, although just a touch weaker behind going away from me as compared to the winner.
