Irish Wolfhound

P (1) 1. Read’s Snuggletooth Cup Cake. 9 month old brindle puppy bitch who I found to be developing nicely with a reasonably well balanced body shape for her age. Pleasing head which was well shaped both front- on, not being too broad in skull, and in profile with slightly tapering muzzle, yet good strength of jaw. Lovely clean neck of good length which flowed nicely into wither. She had satisfactory width and depth to chest, but I would have preferred more width to and return of upper arm. I liked her underline and firm topline, but would like to see her develop more arch to loin. She was nicely angulated at the rear and moved out easily with clean stride in profile, but as one would expect needs to tighten on the out and back as she matures. Best Puppy. O (6 3) 1. Wilkinson’s Rainster Eilex Among Hunacres. Elegant brindle girl of 2 ½ years with a lovely clean flowing outline. That said, there was nothing weedy about her she being put down in excellent condition with adequate depth and width of body. She was standing on lovely bone and feet. Her head was in proportion to body and carried atop a clean, reachy, arched neck. I should have liked a darker eye. I very much liked her topline and rise over the loin which was strong. Her nicely angulated quarters matched back and forth and with her good coupling this made for a balanced outline; free standing she could not fail to stand four-square. Very easy on the move, with sound, free gait notwithstanding the heat. I felt there is still more for this girl to give. I was pleased to award her Best of Breed. 2. Addington’s Wolhouse Herbie Hancock of Wolverbrigg (Imp Dnk). Well presented 4 ½ year old brindle boy who impressed me for his good size, bone and substance which all reflected his masculinity. I particularly liked his strength and depth of quarters, good topline, ribbing and strength to loin; he was very good to go over. Scored in head from all angles with pleasing expression and ear. Just enough length of neck it was set well into body. He was shown in lovely coat and had a good underline. He was close up to the winner, but I felt he could use more angulation at point of shoulder and was not quite as strong in hind movement; but it was an incredibly warm day. An imposing figure on the stand he was Reserve Best of Breed. 3. Taylor & Lynch’s Gaeltarra Eireann Watson (Imp Nld)
