Siberian Husky Club Of Great Britain

Siberian Husky Club Of Great Britain Open Show – Bitches and Junior Handling

14th July 2024

Rebecca Cunningham (icebex/yulyeong)

I would just like to thank the committee for the privilege of judging at their club open show and those that entered their dogs under me. I was truly spoilt for choice and had to make some tough decisions for my top winners. I’m pleased that both Jenny Shorer Wheeler the dog judge and myself agreed with all the final decisions.

Minor Puppy Bitch, (3,0)

1st, Trailhunters Raven Rock (Miss N V & Miss R March & Smith), very promising youngster and currently has good proportions. Loved her head with her mischievous expression, correct earset, correct eye set and shape, good neck, good shoulder, straight front legs with slightly sloping pasterns and good feet, liked her height to length ratio. Typical puppy enjoying her time in the ring, when settled moved well, Best puppy Bitch

2nd, Korva Crazy Noelle at Sybasprinter (Imp Swe) (Ms P & Mr H Amphlett & Sym) I felt this puppy was slightly overwhelmed by the show ring and will do well once she relaxes, carried herself a little hunched on the stand today but came together on the move. Another currently with good proportions and balanced, good bone, good head, correct almond eye, correctly set, good ear shape, but needs to grow in confidence to use them, good angulation front and back, good feet and correct slope to pasterns, good length loin, moved well for one so young.

3rd, Trailhunters Ryders Rock at Pekakicali (Mr P Miles) another nice puppy with lots to like, going through a growth stage at the moment making her rangier than one and two, lovely head with lovely expression correct eye and ears, a little more upright in front angulation than one and two at the moment but with good front legs, with good pasterns and feet, slightly longer in rib, good length loin, nice parallel rear legs,  not as tidy on the move today as one and two. I would like to see her again in the future

Puppy Bitch (3.1)

1st, Trailhunters Vixen Tor in Wightflight (Ms J D Platt), litter sister to the previous class winner. Taller than her sister but still well balanced, another with a lovely head with good eyes and ears, good front angulation, but has a tendancy to over stretch in the stand which hides it, chest still to develop, but expected of age, good legs, good pasterns, lovely feet, height to length good, but up to height, another with a good rear and parallel rear legs. Moved well.

2nd, Arctictreks Cassi at Snodragon (Miss J Caudy) lovely head with micheavious, foxy expression, correct shape and set of eyes, height to length ratio correct although chest still to develop which is correct for age, but gives the appearance shes to tall, which she is not, front and rear angulation correct, good shape feet, feet need to straighten but this will come when chest develops. Correct slope to pasterns. A little lethargic on the move but foot placement correct.

Junior Handling

1st Conner Taylor Morris

I was impressed with the bond that this young handler had with his dog and it is clear they have spent much time practicing together. Won the class on his pattern work and correct presentation to the judge. Instruction was followed well, lines were straight, dog was set up in correct position in front of judge. Missed that the leg needed replacing after I moved it and a hand/side swap but everything else was well executed, tidy and precise.

2nd Cara Wakeling

Another good handler, unfortunately the dog was making the handler work hard, which made it harder for the handler to execute her patterns. She spotted the required hand change on the entrance to the ring, just needs to ensure the hand swaps are in the correct place. Handler listened well to instruction and completed the patterns correctly, lines could be straighter. This handler also missed that the leg needed replacing after I moved it
