Coventry Ladies Kennel Society
Thank you to the committee for CLKS for inviting me to judge at their Premier Show. One we have attended for many years. Unfortunately, the flooring in this venue seems to be more slippery these days as it wears which made it difficult for the dogs to get traction and drive properly and meant that handlers had to be cautious too.
Retriever (Labrador)
Puppy (6,5)
1st King’s Linthwaite Mathilda (AI). 11mth Yellow B. A full of life feminine B of good size and shape. Correct proportions through head with dark eyes. Super forequarters with well laid shoulders, good forechest and well sprung ribs. Level topline to a well set tail carried level. Correct rear angles with well turned stifle & a good width of ham. Moved true. BP
Junior (9,1)
1st Young’s Potterzuri Mister Mufasa. Just 12mths and liked this boy for his size and shape. Masculine but not course with a well proportioned head and nice dark eyes. Very well made forequarters with well laid shoulders and good forechest. Good amount of bone and neat feet. Level topline over deep well-sprung ribs, muscular loin to a well angulated and well muscled rear. Best mover, true coming and going, drove as well as he could given the surface. Pleased to award RBOB
2nd Ganney, Allen & Hess’ Darrabol Amphitrite with Allenie. Lovely feminine 13mth B, nice size and outline. Well made head of good shape with expressive dark eyes. Another very well made forequarters with good bone and feet. Deep well-sprung ribs under a level topline. Well muscled and angulated rear. Very close but she was not quite as true coming towards today

2nd Harris’ Winsleywood Wellington JW. 2yr Yellow D. Pushed 1 all the way, just not as tidy behind when moving away. Another of good shape although of larger make than the winner. Pleasing head and expression with dark eyes into a muscular neck. Well laid shoulders, straight front with good bone and feet. Deep well sprung ribs, muscular loin and level topline to a well set tail. Muscular rear with a good turn of stifle. Moved well.

1st Bambrook’s Winsleywood Waghorn at Ravoakar JW. What a super youngster. 20mths D, lovely size and shape, masculine head without any coarseness, dark eyes with a soft attentive expression. Clean neck into super forequarters. well laid shoulders and return of upper arm giving good forechest. Straight front and tidy feet. Deep well-sprung ribs under a level topline. Correct tailset and carriage. Good rear, well muscled. Best mover, true all round. Took my eye to win BOB and lovely to see him shortlisted in the group under a breed specialist.
2nd Young’s Potterzuri Chip Of The Old Block JW. Built on larger lines but correctly proportioned and a pleasing head and expression. Muscular neck into well laid shoulders, good forechest, deep well sprung ribs and level topline. Well muscled rear with good turn of stifle. Another good mover.

1st King’s Linthwaite Saffron. 5yr Yellow B, Feminine with a pleasing head with dark eyes. Clean neck into well laid shoulders, good forechest, enough bone and neat feet. Deep well sprung ribs under a level topline, to a muscular rear with good turn of stifle. Moved ok if a little distracted.
2nd Foster’s Midnight Shadow Magic. 18mth black B. Very fine throughout and not concentrating and very distracted both on the stand and on the move. Lovely expression with dark eyes, clean neck into well laid shoulders but lacks forechest. Would like more bone especially for a dog. Ribs just reach to elbow with enough spring. Level topline. The lack of concentration spoilt his movement.

1st Ganney’s Allenies Tampa Bay D’orta for Darrabol. Nice mature 6yr yellow B, feminine throughout with pleasing head, dark eyes and an attentive expression. Well made forequarters with well laid shoulders and good return of upper arm giving forechest. Enough bone and tidy feet. Level topline over deep well-sprung ribs, short loin to a well angulated rear. Lovely true fluid happy mover with level tail carriage.
2nd Ganney’s Mardas Black Silk JW. 9yr black D, What a lovely old gent he is. Masculine head with dark eyes, well muscled neck into well laid shoulders, good bone and feet. Deep well sprung ribs through to a well angled rear. Movement a little sluggish today.
Retriever (Flat Coated)
As with the Labradors, the Flatcoats struggled even more with the floor meaning steady was the order of the day and we missed the drive one associates with the breed.
Puppy (3,1)
Two very happy youngsters.
1st Jones’ Benvellyn Sequoia. 11mth Black B. Very feminine with a classic head, very slight stop, dark eyes and a ‘naughty’ expression. Clean neck to well made forequarters with well laid shoulders and good forechest. Good bone and feet with a straight front. Deep chest under a level topline. Good rear angles and the best mover. BP
2nd Jarvis & Iddenden’s Wyrebeck Making Waves. 11mth Liver D. Another with a lovely head, good length and slight stop. Clean neck into well laid shoulders. Not as much forechest as 1st but good bone and straight front. Level topline over deep ribs. Well angled and well muscled rear. Not as much reach in front on the move.
Junior (4,0)
1st Egginton & Davis Pajanbeck One Moment In Time (AI). 16mt, very feminine B. Built in smaller lines than some. Nice shape and outline. Good head with slight stop and dark eyes, clean neck into well laid shoulders, straight front with good bone and feet. Level topline over deep ribs and a short loin to a well angled rear. Moved true and showed some drive.
2nd Bowen’s Clandrift Bring Me Sunshine JW. 17mth D, super shape and size. Classic head with dark eyes, well made forequarters with well laid shoulders, return of upper arm & lovely forechest. Good bone and feet. Level topline over deep chest to a well made and well angled rear. Not moving as well as the winner today.

1st Goodman’s Blacklake Isabella. Mature 8yr feminine B. Loved her type, size and shape. Classic head of good length and proportions with slight stop and dark eyes. Straight front with good bone and feet, well laid shoulders and return of upper arm giving enough forechest. Level topline over well sprung ribs, well set tail that lashes on the move. Good rear angles. Best mover. BOB
2nd Bowen’s Candiliz Funky Monkey at Clandrift RKCWGC. 4yr B and another of good shape, built on slightly heavier lines than 1. Lovely head with dark eyes. Good neck into well made forequarters with well laid shoulders and good forechest.Deep ribs with good spring, short coupled to a muscular, well angled rear. Anotehr good mover. RBOB

So disappointed that only 2 were present from an entry of 13 but so pleased with the quality of the 2 that were there.
Puppy (7,6)
1st Pollard’s Shalissa’s Hot Toddy at Whizzbean. What a lovely youngster. Only 7months but presenting a super outline on the stand and what a character, full of mischief but knew her job and presented herself well. Correct overall shape, liked her head which is of good length, lean, with dark eyes and a slight stop. Clean neck of good length into well laid shoulders, good return of upper arm and nice forechest. Deep chest under a slightly sloping topline to a well set tail and a correctly angled rear with a good turn of stifle. Moved true and steady. BP and RBOB. Then later she went on to win Best RBOB and Puppy Group 1.

1st Tant’s Rafthouse Bundlebrent at Granadeya. Another super exhibit, this 16mth Liver B ticks all the boxes. Super shape and condition, when she concentrates, she presents a lovely outline. Feminine head of good length, clean neck into well laid shoulders, good return of upper arm and super forechest. Straight front with good bone and lovely neat feet. Deep chest, slightly sloping topline, short loin and a flowing, well muscled, well angled rear completes the picture. Loved watching her true movement. BOB then Working Group 2.

1st Lear-Schofield & Schoefield’s Kingslords Miss Selene at Alfross (Imp Fin). Just 6mths and what a sweetie. Lovely outline with good bone. Feminine head of good breadth, lovely black mask. Very well made with well laid shoulders, return of upper arm and a straight front. Deep well sprung ribs. Carrying a good coat. Well angulated rear with good width of ham. Slight rise over the loin today. Such a steady mover, so true for one so young. BP and RBOB

1st Davies’ Alfross Kapuko Aelius. 6yr D and so laid back. Masculine with good breadth & dark mask. Well made forequarters with good bone but a little down on his pasterns. Deep well sprung ribs but does tend to drop his topline. Lacks rear angulation. Very lazy, laid back mover but true fore and aft.

1st Lear-Schofield & Schoefield’s Alfross Romabo Harper. 2yr D. An imposing male of good size and outline. Masculine all through, good head with dark eyes and dark mask. Well made forequarters with well laid shoulders, good bone. Deep well sprung ribs, correct topline to a moderate rear. Carrying a good coat but would prefer less black. Moved true with ease and drive. BOB

1st Smith’s Belleville Snooze You Loose – Portuguese Water Dog. 8 mth B. What a sweetie. Lovely head with good width and depth to muzzle. Well made forequarters with well laid shoulders, good bone and feet. Level topline over a deep chest, short loin to a well angled rear. Light free mover with drive. 2nd Atkins & Gunningham’s Qimugta Hendricks – Canadian Eskimo Dog. Black & White D &12mths on the day he is an imposing powerful dog on the stand if somewhat easily distracted. Head of good shape with breadth of skull, short muscular neck into well laid shoulders but chest still needs to develop. Well sprung ribs to short deep loin and on to moderately angled rear. A little distracted and erratic on the move. RBAVNSC

1st Marshall & Tankard’s Ch Stoneglad Jumping Jack Flash at Verosa JW ShCM ShCEx – Bullmastiff. What a super D. Just starting out on his veteran career. Strong powerful D with a lovely head of correct proportions and a nice black muzzle. Well made forequarters with deep brisket, well laid shoulders and good forechest. Straight front. Moderately angled and well muscled rear. On the move he is effortless yet powerful.
2nd Tinker’s Pol Ch Zaltana Frosted Fox at Lolotea (Imp Pol) – Siberian Husky. This 10yr old is a lovely moderate B still in super condition. Well made forequarters with well laid shoulders and return of upper arm, deep chest and well ribbed back to give correct length of body. Well muscled rear and another lovely mover.

Gp1 Thomas & Bull’s Phoria’s Seventh Heaven JW – Bullmastiff. Another super specimen at just 23 months. Imposing on the stand exuding strength and power. Correct shape to head and skull with black mask. Well developed chest with well laid shoulders, good forechest and a straight, well boned front. Deep ribs through a strong deep loin to a moderate rear. On the move he is a joy to watch, true, sound with power. Could not be denied and thrilled to hear that he went on to win Reserve Best In Show
Gp2 Tant’s Rafthouse Bundlebrent at Granadeya – Dobermann. Continued where she left off earlier, super shape on the stand and effortless power on the move.
GP3 Leech & Moir’s Elgrandbear Razz Ma Tazz – Newfoundland. Still only a puppy at 11mths she presents a super outline. Still plenty of developing to do but its all there. Lovely head of correct breadth at this age. Super forequarters with deep chest. Good bone and feet. Level topline to a well set tail and well angled rear. Lovely to go over and such a steady, coordinated mover.
GP4 Bird’s Ch Cullumbern Milano JW - Bernese Mountain Dog. This very nice 5yr D completed the lineup. Liked his overall size and shape. Masculine head with flat skull, well made forequarters with well laid shoulders, deep well sprung ribs, strong loin and broad rear. Another super mover with reach and drive.

Puppy Gp1 Pollard’s Shalissa’s Hot Toddy at Whizzbean – Dobermann. Very close between 1 & 2. Today the clean lines and tighter movement of the Dobermann won through.
Puppy Gp2 Leech & Moir’s Elgrandbear Razz Ma Tazz – Newfoundland. Group 3.
Puppy Gp3 Simms’ Nesslands One In A Million at Articskies - Siberian Husky. A very smart young 8mth B. Promising youngster, well made forequarters, good length of rib to a well angled rear. A bit more settled on the move than the PWD.
