Norwegian Buhund Club of the UK

Norwegian Buhund Club UK – Open Show 7th July 2024

This was a lovely appointment and as always this breed pulled out the stops to get a great entry. Thank you to the committee for the invitation and the exhibitors for their entries and their good humour. I found the quality high, the Buhunds delightful, and the exhibitors a fun lot to spend time with. The weather played with us a bit – so we were in and out – but I made sure I got to see movement – which was generally excellent. I must admit to a slight feeling of disappointment that the Brace class did not provide the chaos that I had (secretly) been hoping for – I made them all work hard and they all put in very good performances!

Puppy Dog (1)

1. Leggatts Part Time Lover. 8mo wheaten of good quality. Clean wedge with flat skull, ears nicely placed, good eye shape and colour. Correct outline with moderate angulation front and rear. Sufficient bone and straight legs and oval feet. Moved very soundly. BPIS

Junior Dog (1)

1. Mazads Nom De Plume. 13mo wheaten. Lovely harsh jacket; good neat head with flat skull, ears well placed, nice eye, and super pigment, giving good expression. Perhaps a smidgeon off-square. Good front and depth of chest. Nice bone for size. Front pasterns just need to tighten. Moved out well. BJIS

Yearling Dog (1)

1. Mazads Nom De Plume. Notes as previous class.

Post Graduate Dog (0)

Limit Dog (0)

Open Dog (3,1) Two scrumptious wheaten Buhunds – I found out later that they were half-brothers.

1. Kligenthal Bran Mak Morn. Lovely 4 yo. Loved his head and expression. Good skull, correct ears, lovely eye shape and colour. Good neck, short back, moderate angulation front and rear. Correct bone and lovely feet. Light and sound on the move. BIS

2.  Ch Kligenthal Almuric. Lovely, slightly smaller, male of 5 years. On the day I didn’t feel he was as ‘on it’ as 1. Super head, eyes could be slightly darker, but of correct shape. Good neck, nice body proportions and harsh jacket. Appeared to be more together when he later challenged to take RBD and later RBIS. He was very sound on the move.

Special Working Dog (1,1)

Puppy Bitch (1)

1. Leggatts Superstition. 8mo pup – litter sister to Puppy Dog. Very pretty and feminine light wheaten of lovely make and shape. Super head, good neck, sufficient chest, bone and lovely pigment. Not yet as settled as the male, but once she had relaxed in the ring she moved very well. RBPIS

Junior Bitch (3)

1. Mazads Joie De Vivre. Promising 13 mo who needs to settle to show her best. Well made with attractive head and lovely pigment, good neck and presents a correct outline. Correct front agulation. Harsh jacket. Moved well when settled.

2. Dracus I Have A Dream. 14 mo black. Scores in head with lovely eye shape and good ears. Overall body proportions pleasing. Not as tidy on the move.

3. Leggatts Superstition. (see Puppy Bitch)

Yearling Bitch (1)

1. Mazads Joie De Vivre. Notes as for Junior.

Post Graduate Bitch (2)

1. Leggatts Voulez Vous. Black of nice type. Attractive white on toes. Very nice head with good skull, correct ears and well shaped and placed eyes. Sufficient chest, correct for bone. Very nice oval feet. Moved out well.

2. Leggatts Superstition

Limit Bitch (1)

1. Leggatts Jive Talking. 2.5 yo wheaten. Correct harsh jacket. Feminine head with good skull. Eyes a little prominent. Would like a little more angulation in front, however, she was very sound on the move.

Open Bitch (3)

1. Ch Tapui Starla. Lovely 3 yo wheaten. Correct in head and very feminine. Loved her front assembly and her overall proportions were spot on. She was in lovely coat and was well muscled. Showed to advantage on the move. RBB

2. Sturtmoor’s Ffascination with Koromandel. 5 yo of slightly longer cast. Lovely head with the most attractive ears. Super topline and lovely front construction. Moved well.

3. Draccus Obsidian at Bucameraru

Veteran Bitch (2)

1. Ch Maidofcopper for Koromandel JW VW (Imp Fin). 9yo carrying her years extremely well. Feminine head and super pigment. Loved her overall proportions and balance. Felt she was carrying a little excess on the shoulders, but did not interfere with her very sound movement. Showed great character and was a joy. BVIS

2. Knytshall Noor Ui Ain. Lovely black of correct proportions and super head and neck, good for bone. Today was sound but a little erratic on the move.

Special Vintage Bitch (0)

Special Working Bitch (3)

1. Ch Leggatts Dancing Queen At Dracus. This lovely black was my star bitch today. 5yo and so very sound in every respect. Lovely head with super ears and correct eye. Well proportioned body, lovely angulation front and rear and good bone and feet. On the move she was, in my opinion, perfection! She was BB and BOS and challenged hard for the top spot of the day. Loved her.

2. Knytshall Noor Ul Ain. As before

3. Leggatts Jive Talkin. As before
