Tyne, Wear and Tees Hound Association – Open Show – Saturday 30th November 2024.
Heartfelt thanks to the officers and committee for inviting me to judge and providing me with such helpful and pleasant stewards on the day. The show has a lovely atmosphere and is clearly well supported by the exhibitors. It was a real privilege for me, and I would like to thank all exhibitors for providing me with such a lovely quality entry and their good grace on the day.

Post Graduate Dog or Bitch: (2:2)
1. Anderson, Foote & Mcaulay. Erylan Passiflore, smart and caught my eye as soon as she entered the ring. Well-proportioned and balanced puppy. Nice head and expression, with dark oval eyes. She has a correct and balanced front, with her elbows just sitting nicely under her, and good depth of brisket. Her hindquarters are moderate and moved well with handler. A promising puppy. BP & BOB
2. Anderson, Foote & Mcaulay. Erylan Phoebe Petit Bijou. Another nice puppy who was also showed well for one so young. Nice head with correct length of fore face and low set ears. Nice front and good depth of chest. Pleasing side gait, but for me she was a little too long in body.
Open Dog or Bitch: (1:1)
1. Foote & Mcaulay Erylon. Fantastique Freya Ir J Ch Cjw22. Ideal size but just a little too short in body for overall balance of this breed. lovely head and eye, level topline, and moved well in profile, but rear movement a little close today.
Bavarian Mountain Hound
Special Yearling Dog or Bitch: (1:1)
1. Hill, Russdales Adonis. Young male who was clearly enjoying his day out and has time to continue to learn about a show career. Aside from his enthusiasm, I thought he was a really smart male, lovely head, dark eyes, and oval in shape. Muscular neck of good length, and correct topline. Good depth of chest and slight tuck up, good hind angulation with strong oval feet. Movement was a little erratic due to his enthusiasm but shown in good condition. BOB.
Open Dog or Bitch: (1:1)
1. 1. Hill, Russdales Adonis. As above.

Special Yearling Dog or Bitch: (1:1)
1. This was a super class of youngsters. ROGERSON, Everwyck Alphin. Young male and he is an attractive red/white. He is so well balanced and caught my eye as soon as he entered the ring. Enough body for his age, Lovely head, long and lean. Nice curving topline. Good depth of brisket, and defined tuck up. Moved with the required effortless and supple trot. Showing great promise. Best Puppy in Breed.
2. CONROY, Caladria Of Enolam. An attractive looking young bitch. Litter sister to the male puppy winner. Lovely balanced outline like her brother. Lovely head, and you can tell she is obviously feminine. Really appreciated her elegance. Lovely front and forequarters, with moderate hindquarters. I just preferred the movement on her brother today, but another promising youngster.
Post Graduate Dog or Bitch: (2:0)
1. DOVER, & DOVER, Palamedees Arian Khrysos At Keanver JW. Lovely male with breed type, and masculine. Nice front construction but would prefer to see his front feet to be more oval shaped and toes closer together. Head is masculine in appearance. Good length neck, with a nice flowing topline to reachy hindquarters.
2. SMITH, Chalksville Saskia Finer bitch, who was well presented on the day. A little round in eye and prefer more muzzle but has nice leg length. She has the correct dark pigmentation, sweet expression. Her neck set is a little low and she is a little upright in shoulder, which impacted her front movement. Elegant female who moved better with time.
Open: (3:1)
1. Conroy’s, Santerman the Way We Were at Enolam. Attractive head with domed skull and neat ears set high. Lovely overall breed type and demonstrates the breed typical graceful, and aristocratic movement. Lovely length of neck, with his shapely topline. Good front and depth of brisket. His rear has a good bend of stifle with low hocks. A lot to like about this male but would prefer more oval front feet. His profile movement was easy. Best of Breed.
2. Wheatley, Takatori legally blonde. Feminine girl with a lovely expression. Attractive head with dark pigmentation. She has a slightly arched neck, correct topline, She has a deep chest, adequate width. Another one who lost out due to feet, as I do prefer the correct oval front feet in this breed. I preferred the movement of the class winner on the day, but two lovely examples of the breed.
Hamiltonstovare
Post Graduate Dog or Bitch: (2:1)
1. Kenmare, Omega Huculska Dolina At Craigmills (Imp Pol). Young female who needs a bit more time to mature, but for me she was lacking the overall impression of great strength. That said she was extremely well presented by her handler, who has clearly worked hard to build his raptor with his Hound. She was confident as soon as she entered the ring and was moved to maximum effect. I would prefer to see a short and firm foot, hers were a bit flat.
Nice level topline and demonstrates the required rectangular appearance. She has excellent rear construction which is strong and parallel. Well angulated, muscle, and broad. Lovely coat and colour.
Open Dog or Bitch: (3:2)
1. Walker, Flixtonia Lady Magdelene. Really liked this girl and I was prepared to give her some time to settle on the day. Excellent breed type, demonstrating the correct rectangular outline, correct proportions, good coat and colour, correct tail carriage, really liked her strong head. Moved well once she had time to settle. Best of Breed.
2. Stuart, Dream maker from Sufayre. Very well presented on the day, well made, with a feminine well-proportioned head, ears fairly high. Nice front but was out at the elbow slightly, nice level topline. I would prefer better feet. Good coat and colour. Well, boned and shown in fit condition. Moved well.
Rhodesian Ridgeback
Special Yearling Dog or Bitch: (3:3)
Post Graduate Dog or Bitch: (2:1)
1. Greeves. Penholda Sweet Lady JW. A pretty wheaten bitch with a lovely head and dark eye. So well balanced and presented, breed typical short loin and excellent muscle tone. Good length of neck, strong, and level topline. Good turn of stifle, with hocks well let down and correct rear angulation. I would just prefer a more compact foot.
Open Dog or Bitch: (5:2) This was a lovely class of RR.
1. Mackfall, Benicloujam Aumba Breeze Of Africaner. Very well handled to maximum effect. Lots to like about this one, and so well balanced and moderate angles. A little bit too much of her, but she has excellent confirmation. Lovely expression. Good length of neck with well sloped shoulders. Strong level topline and well-made hindquarters. Moved with strength and precision. In the challenge I preferred the front construction on this one. Best of Breed & Group 4.
2. Greeve, Penholda Answer To My Dreams. 8yr old bitch who knows her job in the showring. Lots to like and best head of the day with skull flat, broad between ears, defined Stop, and muzzle long, and deep. Straight strong forelegs and compact feet. Good rear angulation. Just lacking a bit of enthusiasm on the move.
Sloughi
Open Dog or Bitch: (2:0)
1. Clark, Atiqah Origen Charm Of Thiefside (Imp SVK). This puppy really fills the frame for her breed, racy and elegant. She caught my eye as soon as I saw her, and very well composed for a puppy. Lovely, elongated wedge shaped head and large eye. Strong neck with slight arch. Lovely correct front, with long shoulder blades. Nice topline with slight arch over loin and presents the breed required square proportions. Short fine coat. Moved with the required supple and effortless gait. A pleasure to have in the ring. I will watch her promising career. Best of Breed and Res Best In Show.
2. Clark, Magida Sabiih Al Sahraat Thiefside ShCEx. Mature girl who is also an excellent example of the breed. Correctly and squarely proportioned, refined head, lovely expression, strong neck, level topline, deep through the brisket and well ribbed, correct front and long shoulder blades. Moved well. Two lovely Sloughi’s but I preferred the style and elegance of the puppy on the day.
