CLITHEROE & DISTRICT KENNEL ASSOCIATION

Saturday 21st September 2024

Thank you to the Officers and Committee for the invitation to judge at this busy open show. There was a lovely atmosphere. Thank you also to my stewards Mary Cavanagh and David Bunford who were very pleasant company all day and indeed stayed to the bitter end to steward for me in the BIS ring which was much appreciated.

BIS-the group judges had sent forward 7 worthy representatives which made for a very pleasant and enjoyable experience.

BIS-Blackburn Bennett & Macara’s Pointer Kanix Sooty at Stargang-caught my eye at first glance as she had lovely symmetry, was undoubtedly a bitch and had lovely breed type. In super condition, great temperament and was very pleasing on the move. Was lovely to go over and never really put a foot wrong. Well handled to get the best out of her and whenever I looked at her she just looked super. Well done.

Res BIS-Holmes’ Smooth Coat Chihuahua Ch Cazants The Gaffer Luvs-I had judged this boy earlier in the day first in the breed and then in the toy group. He pleased me every time I saw him and BIS was no different. He was undoubtedly male, had the correct compact proportions and a lovely outline. Held himself so well both standing and moving. Sound in all directions and had a look of quality so no surprise to see that he has his title. Super.

BPIS-Paterson’s WH Dachshund Brumberhill Biscuit to Ambiesque -well developed young lady who was not exaggerated in any way. Lovely outline, good bone for age and sound moving. I liked her proportions. Nothing to hide.

RBPIS- Moore’s Shih TZU Unstoppable AlpiuSlenis to Jaxtu (Imp LTU)-very glamorous and eyecatching and certainly had arrogant carriage. Had already been in the BIS competition as he had won the adult group as well. In great condition, well prepared, still needs to firm up but he is only young. Should have a bright future I would think.

BVIS-Hardman’s Irish Terrier Int/Sw/Fin/Est Ch Red Lucifer at Bonosue (Re-Imp)-this boy was on form, he stared right back at me when I looked at him and he has a lovely head and expression. Super outline and proportions, good tail carriage and he certainly belies his years. Well deserved his placing.

RBVIS-Harrison & Stoner’s Boston Terrier Ch Eairycor Celtic Manxspirit- super Boston terrier, in great nick, lovely headed boy, good forequarters, compact and a good show temperament. Showing his age a fraction in rear movement but was obviously a quality veteran.

Chihuahua (Long Coat)

Puppy-3 entries, 1 absent

1st Entwistle’s Dorenty Textututango-nice one to start the day off, dainty, good outline standing and moving with a good rear. Delightful temperament. Best puppy

2nd Gilling’s Rubyanlo Tommy Hilfiger of Talocan -this boy was a little apprehensive on the table but quite assertive when on the ground. Good rear, was a touch longer than the winner.

Junior-1 entry

1st Gilling’s Rubyanlo Cherry Bon Bon of Talocan-only a baby and topline needs to firm up, super temperament, decent head and expression, a bit narrow behind.

Post graduate-2 entries

1st Wills’ Dorenty’s Chuckleberry Finn-the name made me chuckle when I came to type it. Smart boy, very good outline and a lovely topline, was a touch narrow behind.

2nd Gilling’s Rubyanlo Perfect Melody of Talocan -7 months and giving a lot away in this class, pretty head, good condition, topline needs to settle.

Open-1 entry

1st Entwistle’s Ch Dorenty’s Heidi Hi -stood alone but could have coped with some competition. Mature and in full bloom, super type, looks really good standing, a bit of a handful on the move as she is a bit of a madam, clearly a quality Chi-BOB and Gp 4.

Chihuahua (Smooth Coat)

Puppy-3 entries, 1 absent)

1st Alexander’s Alderxena Pocket Rocket-a real showman both standing and moving, moves assertively and hold his topline very well, is just a bit long. Best puppy

Open-4 entries

1st Holmes Ch Cazants The Gaffer Luvs-I reported on this boy above as he not only won the toy group but went on to Res BIS. However it all started here as he came into this class meaning business and his obvious quality immediately took my eye. Just lovely. BOB, Toy Gp 1 and Res BIS.

2nd Cazants The Geisha Luvs Dorenty -now that I come to do the report I see that she is litter sister to the winner, she too is a lovely sort, compact and in good condition, bit of a handful and did not put on the steady show that her brother did.

Lowchen

Puppy-2 entries, 1 absent

1st Morgan-Stanley & Dixon’s Golbourne’s Just A Diamond -stood alone but could have coped with some competition, mature for his age and is strongly built, well presented and handled, really came into his own when there were other dogs in the ring and then you could really see his potential as he carried himself really well, must not grow any more, his quality and showmanship won him the toy puppy group.

Chinese Crested

Puppy-1 entry

1st Gwynne’s Orfeus Crystal Ice Avec Chezic NAF TAF-another who stood alone and really only came into his own when there were other dogs in the ring. 2nd McGuiness & Nelson McGuiness’s Dinahtron Lily Savage-a bit like the previous class this girl was every bit as feminine as the dog was masculine, good head, really good coat and in correct order, just a bit weak behind but quality.

Pug

Puppy-1 entry

Reynolds’ Croftren Chasing Highs- quality, 7 months and a good size with enough substance for age, looked good in stance with a typical outline, was a little stilted behind here but moved much better in the puppy group. Quality earned her Puppy group 2.

1st Nixon’s Afterglow This Little Piggy-interesting contest here as there were things I liked about each of them. I liked the quality and substance of this girl, handled well on the table, was a bit sluggish on the floor. BOB
