I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge at their show, I had a lovely day with the sun shining and some superb exhibits that I was honoured to go over. Thank you all for your entry.
Siberian Husky
Puppy Bitch (2) 1. Amical Valletta. 9 month old puppy bitch. An exciting exhibit, I liked her as soon as she walked in the ring, and even more so when she moved. Finely chiselled head, with foxy expression, whilst still remaining feminine and mischievous, which I liked a lot in a puppy. Medium sized, graceful and light on her feet. Beautifully balanced proportions, with good angles fore and aft. Medium boned, with strong topline and a slight tuck-up. The only thing letting this bitch down today was that she was mid-changing coat, and hence appeared less-furred than I would prefer. Gaited beautifully around the ring, with good reach and drive. A lovely puppy, one to watch. BPIB.
2. Articskies Black Diva. 9 month old puppy bitch. Another lovely example of the breed, but of different type to the winner. Finely chiselled, feminine head, with foxy expression. Medium sized bitch, with pleasing proportions. Nice rear angles, a little upright in forequarters. A bit soft in topline today, particularly on the move, but expect this will tighten up with maturity. Nice coat, with well-furred appearance for age. Smooth and effortless movement, covering the ground well, with good reach and drive, a little closer hind movement than I would like.
Junior Bitch (2) 1. Amical Valletta. Winner of PB. 2. Nesslands One In A Million at Articskies JW. Heavier bitch than I would like, appearing slightly cobby today. Lovely head, with foxy expression and almond eyes. Nice proportions on her, well off for bone, and balanced angles fore and aft. Good strong topline, which held on the move. Well furred coat. Moved cleanly on the up and down, would like more drive in profile to appear lighter on her feet.
Post Graduate Bitch (3,1 absent) 1. Artictreks Goldilocks at Snodragon JW. More refined bitch, presenting a nice shape on the stack and shown in great condition. Feminine, foxy head, with erect ears completing her expression. Nice proportions on her, with no sign of cobbyness and moderate bone. Well angled fore and aft, with strong topline that held on the move. Coat slightly lacking in fur today, with some absence of undercoat. Moved cleanly around the ring, with lovely reach and drive. 2. Charmedkelz’s Moondancer. Not as settled today in the ring, giving her a handler a hard time. Presented a good shape, but a little soft in condition vs the winner. Nice head, with foxy expression and almond eyes. Would like a stronger topline. Moved well once she settled for her handler.
Open Bitch (11, 2 absent) I really enjoyed judging this class which was full of quality, thank you to all the entrants. 1. CH Winter Melody Triple Trouble at Amical. What a stunning example of the breed, I felt extremely lucky to have a bitch of this quality in the ring. She presented a beautiful shape on the stack, of medium size and moderate bone, with the perfect balance of power, speed and endurance - no doubt she could have done her job all day as a working sled-dog. Feminine in head, with foxy expression and almond eyes. Easily the best balanced in this class, with correct angles fore and aft, and strong topline which she held on the move. Nice coat, well-furred and of medium length. This bitch came alive on the move, where she looked truly effortless, light on her feet, clean coming and going, with excellent reach and drive on the go around - she certainly made her handler run to keep up with her gait. Beautiful example, thrilled that my co-judge agreed to award her BOB and see her be awarded the group win also. 2. Siberiadrift White Winter. Also liked this bitch a lot in a quality class. She was well balanced, with moderate bone and good ratios. Foxy head, with feminine expression. Good angles fore and aft, to be critical I would have liked a slightly better return of upperarm. Strong topline, which she held on the move. Well furred in coat and shown in great condition. On the move she flowed around the ring, covering the ground effortlessly.
Alaskan Malamute
Junior (1) 1. Boreal Routes Conundrum for Ahtohallan (IMP SWE). 11 month puppy dog. Heavily boned, powerful male, who was very friendly! Gave his owner a bit of a hard time today and took longer to settle. Broad head, slight stop, and large muzzle. Moderately sloping shoulders, pasterns are a little weaker than I’d like. Slightly sloping topline which is a bit soft, but this may come with maturity. Rhythmic, easy movement, with powerful drive from hind once settled. BOB & BP.
Dobermann
Puppy (2) 1. Supeta’s Waiting for an Alibi from Korifey. 8 months old. What an exciting puppy, no doubt she has a bright future ahead! Muscular and elegant, presenting a beautiful shape. Good head, well filled out under eyes, in an elongated blunt wedge shape. Dark almond eyes completing her expression. Correct bite and dentition. Good angles fore and aft, completed with a strong topline, which she held on the move. Well balanced rear, with well filled out croup. Elastic, balanced movement, with a rotary motion from the hindquarters. Lovely example of the breed, thrilled to award her RBOB and BP. 2. Supeta’s Sky’s The Limit with Elleonia. 8 months old. Another nice example, unlucky to meet the winner in this class. Muscular and elegant puppy, more mature bitch than 1 but not as confident yet. Correct length and depth to head, dark eyes. Long arched neck, well laid back shoulder and return of upperarm. Topline could be firmer. Tight arched feet. Short loin, correct croup and tailset. Would prefer a little more thickness in second thigh and a bit harder overall in condition. Moved true with good reach and drive.
Junior (4, 1 absent) 1. Tuwos National Hero. Up to size male, very well conditioned and muscled. Head of correct length, flat skull, dark eye, correct underjaw but would prefer a cleaner lip. Long arched neck, layback of shoulder a little more upright than preferred. Topline is firm and hard, correct croup and tailset. Moved true going away but could be cleaner coming towards. 2. Supeta’s Sky’s The Limit with Elleonia. 2nd in puppy.
Post Graduate (1) 1. Aritaur Cirilla with Philmont. Presents a square outline. Head is of correct length and parallel planes. Clean well arched neck into shoulder, wither is higher than preferred. Correct croup and tailset. Strong topline. Unfortunately didnt want to move on the grass today.
Open (3, 2 absent) 1. Tuwos Mr Majestik Von Sallate. What a cracking male, with super ring presence. Short and square, with good depth of brisket. Flat skull, parallel head planes and almond shaped eye. Long arched neck, into firm topline, correct croup and tailset. Excellent bone and well arched, catlike feet. Nice thick upper and lower thigh. Excels reach and drive on the move, clean coming towards and away, with good rotary action. Handled to perfection, loved this combination. BOB.
Pug
Junior (2, 1 absent) 1. Bilohka Kittiwake Into Aquitaine. Lovely cobby junior bitch. Round in head, relatively large, square muzzle, with well defined wrinkles and black nose to complete her charming expression. Well balanced in body, with cobby, short shape and well sprung ribs. Level topline and good turn of stifle. Shown in good condition. Purposeful and steady movement. Showed very well for her handler. Lovely example, despite being the only one she was worthy of her BOB.
Boston Terrier
Junior (3) 1. Talkaccatur Minnehaha. Just out of puppy, medium sized, compact and well balanced. Square head, flat on top, with well defined stop. Cheeky and determined expression. Erect, thin ears, which are carried well. Good front with strong pasterns and compact feet. Would like more depth to chest, but body is short and well balanced. Sure-footed movement. 2. Dalenamag King of Diamonds. Younger male and less mature than the winner, compact and evenly marked with white. Square head, flat on top, defined stop, broad jaw, and erect ears to complete his expression. Good bone for his age, presenting a nice shape, with good turn of stifle. Appeared a little uncomfortable on the stack, but settled on the move, covering the ground with a good rhythm.
Post Graduate (1). 1. Murrayclan Edinburgh Lass. More petite, but with good balance and bone. Pretty head, with square muzzle, free from wrinkle, in proportion to her body. Kind and intelligent eyes, dark in colour. A little unsettled at the show today, which presented a challenge for her handler, but she presented a nice shape with good angles, and clean movement.
Open (2). 1. Talkaccatur Kiowa. Lovely example of the breed, with a cheeky intelligent expression. Evenly marked with white, medium size, and compactly built. Square head, free from wrinkle, square muzzle and broad jaw. Ears carried erect and eyes dark in colour with an alert expression. Good shape to body, slightly longer than I’d prefer, but good angles fore and aft, hocks well let down. Clean on the move, covering the ground in an easy manner. Pleased to award her BOB in good company. 2. Murrayclan Mary Queen of Scots. What an absolute pleasure to judge this 10 years young veteran bitch. She is a credit to her breed, still in great condition and clearly enjoyed her outing to the show. Well balanced, with even white markings. Square head, flat on top, square muzzle and well defined stop. Eyes dark in colour, with an alert intelligent expression. More compact than the winner, with good front angulation, but would prefer a better turn of stifle. Easy and graceful on the move, particularly when you consider her age! Well done, lovely to see the veterans out.
Japanese Shiba Inu
Junior (1). 1. Miamilady Olaf. Well-balanced puppy, with correct proportions and length. Lively and full of life, making a tricky job for his handler! Head is a blunt triangle, which is broad and flat, with tight lips and pricked ears. Once settled presents a good shape, elbows close to body, slight slope to pasterns, well developed second thigh for age, and slight bend to the stifle. A little unco-ordinated on the move at this stage, but certainly was quick and energetic. BOB.
Post Graduate (1). Amivike’s Baloo Bear from Miamilady. More mature male who was more settled in the ring. Head is a blunt triangle, well developed cheeks and tight lips. Slightly longer in body than preferred, good front but would like more forechest and forearms are slightly turned out, good rear. Excelled on the move, covering the ground well in a quick and energetic fashion.
