Judge Naomi Cowley

Firstly I would like to take this opportunity to thank the committee for inviting me to judge my first group and to the exhibitors who brought such a high standard of exhibits under me. It made for some very difficult decisions on the day. G1 Deerhound G2 standard long G3 Borzoi G4 whippet. Puppy group winner Irish wolfhound PG2 Beagle PG3 Borzoi PG4 mini long.

Deerhound:

Post Grad 1st Jones, Quantisation Gina, 2 ½ yr old B. feminine head of good proportions, dark eye with soft expression, good front and rear angulation but would prefer a slightly deeper depth of chest. Moved well.

Open 1st Owen & Brodie, Fritzen Zareef at wolfscastle (imp ger), WOW, from the moment this 3 year old male entered the ring I couldn’t take my eyes off him, He carries himself with a dignified power and is fit for function. Textbook head, long and flat with good eye of gentle expression. Strong clean neck, well laid shoulder, deep chest and well arched loin, excellent rear with flawless movement in excellent muscle condition. He set a high bar for the rest of the day and a hard act to follow. BOB, G1 and pleased to see him go BIS.

2nd Jones, Ormanstar dark delight, 4 yr old B with pleasing head, strong neck, good front and rear but moves a little close behind.

Irish Wolfhound

Post Grad 1st Pask, Florence della bassa pavese to baronglen, 7month B who is full of power and strength albeit a little uncooperative at times but added to her charm. Excellent head of good proportions with strong jaw, well arched neck, strong muscular shoulders and hindquarters, deep chest and good tuck up. When she gets into a stride moves well, should have a good future ahead of herself BOB, BPIB & PG1.

Post grad 1st Lewis, Trixhund one queen, 14month b&t B, Excellent head with dark eye, long neck and excellent front, good height to length proportions but being picky I would prefer a little more strength in rear. moved well showing drive and determination.

Open 1st Lewis, Trixhund ten from len JW, 14mnth male full of quality, Excellent head with good arch to skull and muzzle, dark almond eye, strong muscular neck leading into a well-muscled body. Prominent breast bone and well ribbed, Equal strength in both forequarters and hindquarters giving him balanced and a robust appearance. Very smart on the move, with free and long strides showing drive and purpose BOB & G2

Post grad 1st stark, Gobannium made of honour jw, Red B with good clean head, Broad neck and good front assembly, good ground clearance but she needs more strength in the rear which shows in her movement.

Open 1st stark, adnerbs won vision of gobannium jw (osw), Mature red B, Excellent head, long strong neck, Prominent breast bone, Good front and rear, moved with style, purpose and ground clearance BOB

Dachshund (mini smooth haired)

Junior 1st Beach, Beachdax girl of my dreams, A very promising 12 month B with a lively expression. Long tapering head, good underjaw and dark eye. Excellent front & rear with a nice strong back, especially liked her proportions, moved well.

Post grad abs

Open 1st Beach, Beachdax sweet melody jw, a clear type coming through, with strength throughout. Good clean, long head, Strong neck, Excellent front and rear, nice body with Prominent breast bone and well ribbed. sound movement with good ground clearance. BOB

Post grad 1st Ham, ciselsig hey there Delilah, 10 month, Extremely feminine and pretty red B, pleasing head with dark eye. Good strong neck into excellent front and rear, Body Moderately long and well muscled. Moved well with long strides covering the ground purposefully. Good coat. BOB, BPIB PG4

2nd Bowman Davies, Timshaws platinum dragon, D balanced proportions to head, good eye but unfortunately not the most confident of dogs so didn’t hold his shape on the stack which done him no Favors. Moved ok.

Open 1st Bowman Davies, Timshaw gold dragon, B good length of head, strong neck, nice topine and balanced front and rear assembly.

Afghan

Open 1st Hughes, Alishan sensa una donna at nantmelan (imp fr), 3yr old Black B who is just starting to mature, Good head and eye, good length of neck. Level topline with prominent pin bones and croup, balanced front and rear but was unsteady on the move.

Saluki

Post Grad 1st smithson, silvershadow Zelda elessar odi et amo, 3 yr old B that still needs time to mature, pretty head with good underjaw, good length of neck, would prefer a better return of upper arm but good depth of chest and spring of rib, well developed first thigh. Moved well.

Open 1st Smithson, Chisobee fahmiy faraashah, 5 yr B&T B, Long and narrow head with dark oval eye, Long neck into good front assembly with moderate return of upper arm. Forelegs straight and flat boned, slight arch over loin with good tuck up, well developed first thigh. Short hocks, Moved well. BOB

2nd Wilkinson, Bendegedig zinnia of greatplains, an old gentleman of 9 and sadly not too happy to be in the ring today which reflected in his movement. Noce head, ears not too low set, moderately set shoulders, chest could be deeper, fair rear assembly, sweet temperament.

Borzoi

Post grad 1st Taylor Rosskaja dalwhinnie, promising 10mnth B, pleasing head, long and lean with veining, strong underjaw, dark eye and a keen expression. Good arch to neck into clean shoulders, good front, straight legs with slightly sloping pasterns, nice rise over ribs and good loin. Excellent rear with good width of first and second thigh and correct hare feet. Lost out on BOB as needs to settle and open up in the move the way she is built would indicate,

Open 1st logvinenko, Ryazan Vladimir shcex, 5 year old matured boy, good head, eye and underjaw. Clean throat and strong neck, good front and rear assembly, good depth of chest and tuck up. Won the class on his rear movement.

2nd cherriman, Slovyk De l’hermitage d’eole (imp fr) 3 yr old male on first impression I thought he would be my winner as he is very impressive on the stack, giving a very powerful outline. Good head and veining, Excellent front and rear with correct feet unfortunately was moving a little close behind.

Basset Griffon vendeen (petit)

Post grad 1st Feetwood, Tangaer Iced Bun, 12mnth B, good head with slight domed, square muzzle with strong underjaw, low set ears. Long strong neck, good front and rear assembly. Moved well.

Open 1st Lewis, Tangaer heather, compact B and who won BOB on her proportions and size. Pleasing head with low set ears, long neck into clean, well laid shoulder, moderately rounded ribs with deep chest, strong muscular rear and good second thigh. Free easy movement with good drive.

2nd Cowley, Probert Shirley valentine, good head and eye, strong neck, good front and rear assembly but not as clean on the move as 1st.

Beagle, the depth of quality in this breed today has to be noted, It was exceptional and I can honestly say any of the exhibits were eligible for top honours and from looking at pedigrees two recognisable males Ch serenaker armani and ch dialynne petter piper are showing they are not just top dogs but top producers too. Splitting hairs between them...

Post grad 1st evans, Bellvalley black caviar, 9month Tri B with excellent head and expression, long neck, Smart compact body with excellent front and rear assembly, good bone portraying an excellent outline, moved with power and purpose.

2nd Tanner, Felinoak hennessy, 6month lemon and white B who was the baby of the class but what a class act! All the same attributes as 1st (1/2 sister) with the best feet on the day and no doubt when mature, she will be a force to reckon with.

Open D 1st Tanner, Felinoak Griffyn,18month tri D, Pleasing head with alert expression, good length of neck, balanced front and rear, strong outline with good tail set. Moved with style

2nd cornell, Braveair pawsforthought from bronllys, 15 month male tri colour, heavier throughout than 1st but perfectly balanced with good proportions. Excellent head and expression, clean outline and moved well.

Open B 1st Evans Bellvalley Roxanne, the sweetest feminine 9 month lemon and white B, Sturdy and compact, Beautiful clean domed shaped head, large dark eye with pleasing expression. Slightly arched neck into well laid shoulders, good round bone. Level topline, well sprung ribs. Excellent rear which she used to her advantage on the move. Litter sister to Post grad, She really stepped it up in the BOB challenge to be awarded BOB & BPIB. Unfortunately she was less cooperative after a long day in the group ring and this cost her dearly in both adult & puppy. PG2

AVNSC - ABS

AV puppy

1st Murphy, Felinoak gossip at rhosyndu (ai), 7 month tri bitch who faced tough competition in the beagle ring but is a worthy winner in her own right, Good head with pleasing expression, strong neck, compact body and moves well.

2nd Perkins Zelglynn winter pimm’s Fawn D, very raw whippet who needs time. Good head, long neck, adequate front and rear, Good tuck up. Moves well.

AV Hound open

1st cornell, Braveair pawsforthought from bronllys

2nd Perkins Kierpark just a song at zeglynn jw 2yr old B, Good head and eye, long neck, good front and rear assembly, good depth of chest and well sprung ribs. Moves with purpose.

AV Hound Veteran

1st Beach, Izia klara difino (imp svn) 7yr old male who isn’t showing his age at all, Beautiful head, good underjaw, clean throat, strong neck into good front assembly, prominent chest bone, well sprung ribs, solid topline and good rear. Still robust and moved with drive.

2nd lewis, Ch Tangaer Bryntekych, Excellent head, good proportion, clean, well laid shoulder and good return of upper arm, deep chest and strong rear, free movement with good drive.
