Fife Kennel Association. – Sunday 14 July 2024.

Thank you for the invitation to judge my favourite breed at this well run show. I appreciated my able steward who kept the ring flowing and the weather was kind to judge outside on a lovely grassy ring. All the Shelties entered were of a nice type and sound.

Shetland Sheepdogs

Shetland Sheepdog Junior (4,1)

1st Saunders, Leterikhills River Star over Torriglen,

A lovely sable bitch, 13 months old, I have admired from the ringside and was nice to get a chance to handle her. She has a nice well balances head, flat skull and obliquely set dark eye providing a sweet feminine expression. She provides a balanced outline on standing, she moved with purpose on well-padded feet covering the ground with ease, should have a bright future in the breed.

2nd Smith, Orean The Kingsman

A lovely, shaded sable male of 11 months, I really liked him, just not the temperament of first place.

He has a well-developed and refined head for his age and alert keen expression from nice dark eyes and erect ears. He is well balanced shape, he moved well when he found his stride.

3rd McDonald, Degallo Look Who’s Talking

Shetland Sheepdog Post Graduate (5,1)

1st Purves, Donallin Penny Arcade,

A 2 year old blue merle with silvery blue coat of the correct texture. She moved out well covering the ground with ease. She is a nice shape and size with a refined head and erect ears.

2nd Babiak, Donallin Running Bear at Egalefalls,

Striking tricolour, with jet black coat and rich tan, nice head and expression. On handling he was masculine with no sign of coarseness well balanced throughout. He was well made with a balanced head with correct eye placement and ears carriage giving the desired expression for a male. Moved well just not the lightness of the blue.

3rd Saunders, Galateus Bohemia Classic at Torriglen

Shetland Sheepdog Open (4,2)

1st Bramblecroft Reeba at Bluequarry

A very feminine sound sable bitch who appealed for her balance. She presented a lovely picture standing, attentive to handler. Once on the table her quality Shone through, she has the softest expression. Her head has the correct blunt wedge, obliquely set almond eye and ears bang on top. She has well laid shoulders and good spring of ribs, correct length of back that all came together on the move when she flowed around the ring with ease. Best of Breed

2nd Purves, Donallin Magic In Blue,

A mature 5 year old blue merle carrying a wealth of clear blue coat, nice head and expression, I would like more tan to complete her expression, she is balanced in shape and moved well.
