JUDGE - MICHELE ELLIOTT ( PORTSOY )

CLASS A. JUNIOR (3. 1 AB)

1. MRS L J MOSS GADHELIC JACK FROST. Liver roan dog of great quality, I have admired him, and he didn’t disappoint me when I went over him. Beautiful, chiselled head slightly raised eyebrows with a melting noble expression complete with low set, long ears. Correct bite. Well placed shoulders blending into a strong level topline with correct tail set which he held level whilst moving around the ring. Correct length of back and loin with good spring of rib. Straight bone with good size feet. Rear assembly displayed correct angulation with well let down hocks. Presented in excellent condition, a beautiful roan with great ticking and very showman like for his age. A pleasure to judge.

2. MRS L BAIN SYLVIIDAE DANGER ZONE AT PANGARAK Liver dog completely different to my 1st place. Well chiselled head with a pronounced occiput, low set ears and a typical field head. Lighter eye but didn’t distract from his lovely expression. Long muscular neck into adequate shoulders. A heavier set dog than 1st place, his front was looser and pasterns slightly down, something to be aware of when presented with a younger heavier type. In beautiful condition with coat glossy and flat. Correct feet, well-padded and round. Hindquarters adequate coming from a slightly longer loin. Giving his owner a fun time in the ring. This boy just needs time to settle and will probably be a slow maturer. His enthusiastic and fun nature is so typical and lovely to see this youngster enjoying his day.

CLASS B. POSTGRADUATE (4. 1 AB)

1. MRS D WHEELER ELGERT KING FOR A DAY. Liver dog. Beautiful upstanding boy, plenty to like about this dog. Superb bone and substance but not overdone. Filled my eye when he entered the ring. Beautiful condition, colour and coat with feathering. A very typical and typey field spaniel. Head excellent chiselling falling away under his dark hazel, wide, almond, gentle eye, slightly raised brows with defined occiput. Whilst standing he demonstrated a lovely clean profile. Muscular, long neck descending into a body that is workmanlike and strong, deep ribs. His front and rear angulation is correct in construction, although a fraction longer in loin than my 2nd dog, this still enables him to keep a strong topline with drive from the rear. Low let down hocks, flat bone with strong legs and great well-padded feet. Moved unhurried but covering plenty of ground. Super dog to judge today and didn’t disappoint.

2. MR A.D. MOSS EWTOR WIZARD Liver dog. Different from my 1st place, but such a lot to like about this boy. An enthusiastic boy entering the ring and when moving. I could still see this dog’s movement was kind and true. He still has more maturing to do, still a pleasing handsome quality dog. A true field head chiselled, noble and not over done with a dark eye and melting expression. Strong jaw with correct detention. Neck muscular and long curving strongly into precise shoulder placement, long sloping and well back. Legs clean with flat bone and adequate knuckle, feet round, tight and well padded. Deep chest and spring of rib. Well muscular thighs driving him forward with purpose This dog was a pleasure to judge and truly needs to be gone over to appreciate his true attributes.

 CLASS C. OPEN (5. 2AB)

1. MR.D. & MRS.J. BENNETT. SH CH JESHAM BARONET Liver dog. What a pleasure to be able to judge this dog. He oozes field spaniel. Initially a little apprehensive he soon relaxed once I started going over him. Such a great dog and wonderful from all angles. A strong yet correct head, chiselled, lean under the eye but not overdone. Correct bite, strong jaws but not flewy in lips. Beautiful long, low feathered ears making him every bit noble. Strong laid-back shoulders into correct moderate length of legs. Flat leg bone and feet that could do a day’s work which are round, tight and well padded. Excellent spring of rib and plenty of lung space. Correct length of body to loin ratio, correct tail set and carriage, well let down hocks. Coat of silky dark liver colour, with moderate abundance of feathering. True clean movement and executed it like a true professional.

2. MISS C MOORE SH CH ELGERT CHINA GIRL FOR GADHELIC Beautiful feminine liver bitch. Another amazing field spaniel not to be out done by the boys this girl is a true asset to the breed. Today she wasn’t in her best jacket, no way did this deter from a quality bitch. Her head is truly typical with chiselling and leanness and a dark beautiful eye, she has a sweet melting expression. A correct bite, ears low set, long, wide and well feathered. Moving your hands over her she ticks all the boxes easily. Sloping laid back shoulders, level topline, strong rear quarters driving her forward, good body condition and body length ratio. She moved around the ring gracefully and with purpose. Looked amazing from all angles and did not disappoint.
