Open Show – 29th September 2024

Judge: Michael Masters

I was delighted to judge at this friendly show, my sincerely thanks to the Officers and Committee for the invitation. My thanks to my steward for keeping the show on the road and special thanks to the sporting exhibitors for showing your dogs under me. I was spoilt for choice for the top honours, thank you to the Breed judges for sending forward such quality. Sadly I found some beautiful examples of their breed were either overweight or just not in the best body or muscle condition and had to pay the penalty.

BEST IN SHOW

Westaway’s SH CH TEISGOL KEEP ON GOING VIA PENWEST JW – (Pointer)

He came, I saw and he conquered! Orange male that just screams breed type, symmetrical, curvaceous and well built is what is asked for and he certainly delivers. His head is masculine and well moulded of correct proportions, his fine leathers are well set on, eyes of good shape and colour. He has a strong front assembly with plenty of depth and correct width, mature well sprung ribs extending well back to short loin with excellent width over the rear. In tip top condition his movement is sound smooth and efficient, covering the ground with ease holding his striking shape in profile.

RESERVE BEST IN SHOW

Shrinkfield & Lester’s QUETTADENE QUEEN OF STARS JW – (Cocker Spaniel)

I have judged this black girl on previous occasions first as a puppy and now she presents the mature version. Her head is typical of her pedigree with that melting expression from correct eye shape and colour. Her front has developed so well with depth to her brisket, her well sprung ribs are correctly covered and extends back to short loin. Her quarters are strong and well muscled which gives her the drive that is required. On the move she is sound, top line is level and firm which is held in profile. Her well prepared quality jacket just shone today, have never seen her look so well.

BEST IN SHOW 3

Fryer’s SH CH FONESS DIRTY DANCING AT CAROLCO – (American Cocker Spaniel)

A mature black & white male of good size, make and shape. His head is masculine, yet refined and chiselled of correct proportions. His eyes are full and expressive of good colour and shape. His front is well constructed with good lay back to shoulder and correct length upper arm, elbows well tucked in, plenty of depth and correct width. His hindquarters are wide and strong with well let down hocks which gave him terrific drive on the move, sound. Presented in full coat, sympathetically prepared.

BEST IN SHOW 4

Stilgoe’s IR SH CH PERDIZCYO BEATRIZ WITH TEISGOL BJN18 JWW18 JWW BJW – (Portuguese Pointer)

A fit and well built young lady belying her 7 years. She is very pleasing to the eye on first inspection and doesn’t disappoint on handling. Her head is well proportioned, feminine with the correct amount of flews and well developed nose. She has a beautifully made front assembly with plenty of depth, well ribbed back to short loin. She moves sound with drive holding that striking shape in profile.

BEST PUPPY IN SHOW

Franklin’s DREAMCAST ELYSIUM – (American Cocker Spaniel)

What a sweetie this pretty B & W girl is! I loved her balanced well proportioned plush head, lovely full eyes of good shape and colour giving that kind expression. Well made front with super depth and rib for her age to short loin. Her hind quarters are wide and well muscled and short below the hock. She comes alive on the move, sound with reach and drive and lovely showmanship.

RESERVE BEST PUPPY IN SHOW

A raw baby but she shows so much promise. She has a beautiful feminine head with fabulous pigmentation. Correct in front with plenty of depth for her age, super body with good ribbing extending well back to short loin. She moves as she is made, sound with reach and drive and showing so much confidence.

BEST PUPPY IN SHOW 3
