London & Home Counties Terrier Club

The London & Home Counties Terrier Club

Premier Open Show

Judge: Michael Blay (Longbarrow)

An honour to be invited to Judge at the show that got me into the hobby. My first ever show was

at this show as an exhibitor in 1978 with a smooth fox terrier. So although now at a different

venue (was then held in South London) it felt a little like coming home. Although only scheduled

to do 1 breed I ended up as a stand-in for 2 others due to illness and weather. Thank you to the

secretary and her hard working committee for the welcome, and the exhibitors for bringing their

dogs under me.

Airedale Terrier

Post Grad 3,1

1.Steinke: Temtiz Miss Prim and Proper. B. Pleasing head shape, furnishings just need a little

more tidying up, good front and level topline, short backed, stifles a tad too straight for me, but

presented a nice picture in profile on the move BOB

Limit 2,2

Open 1,0

1.Knights, Steinke & Stokes: Temtiz Buzz Lightyear at Lelaps. D. Young Male who came into the

ring spooked, just managed to go over him, but needs time to re settle, good head shape, ears

back as not settled, liked his body shape with good front assembly, short back and with well

sprung ribs, preferred his rear quarters over the bitch in the challenge, and moved well, but too

flighty for him to progress any further on the day RBOB

1.Goldfinch: Kanawha Never Say Never. B. Liked this bitch when she came into the ring, super

head shape, perfect size and in proportion to body, clean neck and good shoulders, good rib,

level topline, if anything tailset a tad too low for me. Liked her angles behind and moved ok,

found her well groomed and in good coat BOB

Limit 1,1

Open 1,0

1.Coe: Kimmi a Coestar. D. Pleasing looking dog of good shape and size, good head and alert

expression, found him a bit thick (coat wise) around the neck, good amount of bone to him,

level topline and good behind, moved ok but unfortunately had his tail down and just wasn’t into

it today RBOB

Manchester Terrier

1.Earle: Rattustrap Beer Humbug. D. Liked this boys overall shape when he settled, elegant yet

with a hint of devilment in his eyes, wedge shaped head with good ear carriage, clean front and

good body shape, good topline and tailset and well muscled behind, bit erratic on the move, but

settled enough to win the class and BOB 2.Hawkes: Candy Carriden. B. Finer sized bitch who

really struggled on the day, good angles front and back and when finally settled moved ok, just

couldn’t go over her today RBOB
