Queens Island Canine Club - Saturday 27th January 2024
Thank you to the Queens Island Canine Club Committee, the stewards, and the exhibitors for a lovely day.
I was delighted to be asked to judge Best in Show and Best Puppy. The quality was extremely high, and my BIS and BP were both exciting prospects.
BEST IN SHOW—Whan’s Leonberger—SULANDI ELECTRIC STORM—This strong male at 16 months old is of lovely size and type. His head is well-shaped, with a dark mask and eyes. He has excellent bone and correct angulation. A fabulous coat and texture complete the picture. This dog is so well made and perfectly fits the standard; I look forward to seeing what the future brings for this one.
RES BEST IN SHOW - Brennan’s- Cocker Spaniel - KERRI JOY MASERATI
BEST PUPPY IN SHOW - Reynolds- Clumber Spaniel - VANTONIA SWASHBUCKLER OF GLENARIFF - this one is very special, a youngster you can’t ignore for quality and character, beautifully presented, shown in excellent coat and condition, masculine head with good expression, clean eye, correct bite, very well boned, good reach of neck, deep chest with well-sprung ribs, strong hindquarters, in excellent muscle tone, moved with great style. I loved him.

AFGHAN Open Dog or Bitch
1st Amaserwah A Crazy Little Thing Called Love - very attractive dog puppy, loveliest of heads with prominent occiput, skull well balanced, low set ears, long sloping shoulders, well-boned legs, short straight loin, muscled back, well-turned stifles, prominent pin bones well set on ringed tail, presented in lovely condition, moved so very well covering the ring. BOB, Group 4, Group Puppy 1, Res BPIS
2nd Ayoubk Stargazer is another quality exhibit. His foreface has the correct slight stop, and the head carriage is good. The shoulders are long, the forelegs straight and well boned, the elbows close to the ribcage, and the tail set low, moved well around the ring.
WHIPPET Limit Dog or Bitch
1st Collooney Jack The Lad - a 17-month-old dog with a long and lean head, alert expression, well set fine-textured ears, long arched neck, shoulders well laid back, well-muscled back, plenty of heart room, good arch over the loin, well developed second thigh, well let down hocks, fine short coat, moved with a long easy stride.
2nd Rushden’s Got The Look - 7.5-year-old bitch, such a lovely temperament, well made all through, Good head and expression. clean neck let into well laid shoulders. Good topline. Broad rear quarters with hocks well let down, good bone. Moved very well, coming and going.
WHIPPET Open Dog
1st Whisperrinn Firecracker Ir Jun Ch, lovely fawn, very attractive quality dog, pleasing head of correct length, muscular neck, ribs well sprung, plenty of heart room, strong and broad across the thighs, stifles well bent, correct pasterns and feet, free and stylish on the move. A tough decision for BOB between this dog and the Open Bitch.
WHIPPET Open Bitch
1st Whisperrinn Glitzy Mitzy (BOB) 4-year-old brindle, Pretty headpiece. Correct ears and bite, ribs were well sprung, and she had a nice tuck up. A good bend of the stifle gave her good driving action on the move, and she carried her topline well and flowed effortlessly around the ring.
DACHSHUND - (Min Smooth Haired) Open Bitch
1st Glenariff Xtraordinaire (BOB)- Balanced bitch of good type and construction, pleasing head and eye, deep, well-ribbed body with good bone and substance. Moved soundly, shown in good coat, handled and presented well.
DACHSHUND - (Min Long Haired) Open Bitch
1st IR CH Cwmdarhain Celtic Exchange with Glenariff (BOB) - Lovely profile, Feminine head and almond-shaped dark eye giving an intelligent expression.good length neck leading into well laid shoulders, strong bone, nice tight knuckled feet, clean topline held well whilst moving. Rear angulation is used well on the move. Group 1
DACHSHUND - (Smooth Haired) Open Dog-
1st Glenariff You’re on Fire- 15-month-old dog, well-balanced dog. Elegant carriage and outline. Good masculine head and correct eyes. Good reach of neck flowing to good shoulders. Good length of ribbing and keel. Correct hind angulation
DACHSHUND - (Smooth Haired) Open Bitch
1st Glenariff Yes Ma’am (BOB) - 15 mths old bitch of good proportions. Litter sister to the dog class winner, Lovely feminine head, gentle expression. Good reach of neck flowing to correct shoulders. Good length of ribbing and keel. Correct hind angulation. Moved soundly with style
AV IMPORTED BREED REGISTERED HOUND
1st Dalmarno Debonayre (BOB) - 15-month-old Basset Bleu De Gascogne bitch with a lovely temperament, nice wedge-shaped head with well developed occiput, long foreface with dark oval eyes & wide black nostrils, neck of good length with a good forechest, shoulders well laid back, body long & firm with well-muscled hindquarters, a slight bend of stifle, moved well, carrying a good coat.

1st Sparklette Shines at Charbonnel - everything fits so well on this puppy of 8 months: lovely feminine head and a gentle, soft expression, good reach of neck leading to well-placed shoulders, good depth of chest and well off for bone, firm topline and nicely turned hindquarters, moved with positivity on good feet. Beautifully presented, enjoying her day.
2nd Thornbrook Scarlett Ribbons - short compact orange roan, correct head proportions and feminine expression, good shoulders, solid well angled rear, solid level topline. Moved happily with a wagging tail.
Yearling Dog or Bitch
1st Stiloga Strike The Anvil - Blue Roan bitch with a lovely balanced outline. A very pleasingly shaped feminine head with a kind, gentle expression, good neck and shoulders, short back and correct tail set, lovely angulation, fore and aft, good bone and spring of ribs, moved out with a good stride and a merry wagging tail.
2nd Thornbrook Princess In Pink - another nicely balanced, her outline was good, lovely feminine head, well placed shoulders, good level topline, Moving out well
Open Dog
1st Kerrijoy Maserati (BOB)—This compact blue roan is so beautifully balanced, has a superb coat and condition, and has a well-proportioned chiseled head. He is well-regulated front and rear and has a strong, firm topline that he held on the move. He has merry movement, covering the ground so well with reach and drive, using his tail to his advantage. He is a lovely dog. I was delighted to see him win the Gundog Group, and then he was my RBIS.
2nd Thornbrook Stage Whisperer - blue dog with lovely head and expression, clean neck into good lay of shoulder, correct level back, good bone, excellent rear angulation, rounded, solid quarters, moved out well.
3rd Gentle Touch Sunforest Soul for Stiloga (Jun Ch)

1st Covenant Celtic Baroness of Kerrijoy - 2 years old black, Quality compact female with most lovely feminine balanced chiseled head and expression, good length of neck, level topline sloping into the correct tail set, short coupled, well angulated quarters, short, neat hocks, covering the ground well on the move, liked her type and overall balance,
2nd Thornbrook Brass In Pocket - well-balanced blue bitch, feminine, well-balanced head with lovely expression, kind eye, good in neck and shoulder, level back into correct tail set, good rear angulation, moved out well.
