Coventry & District Gundog Society

Thank you to the committee for the kind invitation to judge at this popular show and to the Pointer exhibitors for a super entry both numerically and in quality, many of which had the attributes that define Pointer type. I’m always impressed and a little envious of the super feet in the breed!
Some were a little tentative on the floor which reflected in their placements on the day.

Puppy (7,1abs)
1st Adams’ Joneva Just One WishSuper 7mths old bitch head who is a real baby. Her head needs to develop but this will come. I loved her overall profile both standing and on the move. Straight front legs with good width and depth of brisket. Her ribs are carried well back and she has lovely rear angulation with well developed thigh. On the move she was straight and true, showing good profile action. She must have a good future ahead of her. BP

2nd Webster’s Joneva Just Goes To Show at ErrytarLitter brother to 1 and he is a masculine version so similar remarks apply. Super well knit feet and quality bone. Short coupled and correctly set tail. On the move he was not as confident on the floor.
3rd Clinton’s Hawkfield Happy Feet at Oramiss

Yearling (9,1abs)
1st Mason’s Heartbury Tormenta Over Nosam
Smart young lady who already shows balance and depth. Feminine outlook with well proportioned head and correct set ears. Her shoulders are well laid back showing the required slope into her strong topline. Excellent bone and well placed elbows. Well developed and muscled rear and short hocks. She moved well showing ground covering stride. RBOB
2nd Watkins’ Lakewinds Benchmark (Imp Aus)
Upstanding young dog of a different type to 1 but with lots to like. Lovely head and expression with dark pigment. Clean, muscular neck and deep, well sprung rib to short loin. He has well turned stifles and is short in hock. On the move he was true coming and going but I would like to see him in a bigger ring where he could open up in profile.
3rd Norbury’s Heartbury Matador

Graduate (5,2abs)
1st Mason’s Heartbury Tormenta Over Nosam
2nd Webb’s Tenshilling Jimmy Mack JW
Another boy with a balanced head and expression with well defined stop. Slightly arched neck flowing through his topline and tailset. He is deep in brisket and has well placed elbows allowing for clean front movement. Good oval bone and ok feet. Good tailset and well developed rear, enabling him to drive round the ring on a good stride.
3rd Booth’s Ludgarth Jubilee JW

Post Graduate (4)
1st Dunn’s Millpoint Heart And Soul at Casellda
Good head on this girl. She has a nice lay of shoulder and slight arch to her neck. Deep enough in rib and enough bone for her size with tight arched toes. She is moderately angulated front and rear and moved well in profile, although she was a little wide behind going away today.
2nd Stilgoe & Oliver’s Teisgol Heaven Sent JW
This lady was rather unsettled standing today. I preferred her head to 1. Good shoulders and topline with nicely set tail. She has good bone and feet with good width of thigh and short hocks. She showed good profile movement but was untidy coming towards.
3rd Cooper & Pearson’s Keepersfield Giselle

Open Dog (5)
1st Adam’s Carofel wings Of Hope JW WW23 Swiss JCh
This young dog was a pleasure to go over. Each part flows in to the next, from his super head to his correctly set tail. Clean, slightly arched neck to well placed shoulders. He has a good upper arm and his elbows are well placed to allow free movement. He is good through the loin and his rear is well developed. He is in hard condition and this showed in his movement, being precise and smooth. Pleased to award him BOB & delighted to hear he finished RBIS. Well done!
2nd Oddie’s Chesterhope One Way Ticket (AI) (Imp Nzl)
Another attractive dog of a different type. Lovely head of good proportions. Clean neck and shoulders leading to strong topline and muscular loin. He is deep in rib and had good width of thigh. On the move he coped with the size of the ring well, showing good extension in front and behind.
3rd Oliver & Stilgoe’s Teisgol Love Is In The Air

Open Bitch (7,1abs)
1st Norbury & Adams’ Heartbury Northern Lights JW
Headed a class of varying type but was a good winner here. Balanced head and lovely expression. Nicely arched, muscular neck which was well placed in to her shoulders. She has return of upper arm and she is deep in rib. Quality bone and super feet. Her rear is balanced with her front with short hocks. This enabled her to move true and showed the best profile action to win the class.
2nd Clinton’s Hawkfield Merry with Oramiss
Another attractive outline on this girl. She has a clean, long neck and good shoulder placement. Well sprung ribs and muscular loin. Quality bone and tight feet. Well developed first thigh and good tailset. Moved true both ways.
3rd Brooksmith’s Nightgold Pipkin
