Ruthin Canine Society

I would like to thank the officers and committee of Ruthin Canine Society for offering me the opportunity to judge at this well run and friendly show. A big thank you to my efficient stewards who tried to keep the ring running smoothly.

Jack Russell Terriers

Junior (1/0)

1st Ryan, Mrs D , Saredon In The Limelight

An 8 month old male, keen, full of character and very interested in everything going on around him. Excellent Coat or correct colour and texture. Well laid shoulder complementing a correct straight front. Easily spanable. Excellent dentition with an overall pleasing head. Ears were a little unsettled today but this did not detract from his quality. Good turn of stifle and correct tail set. Movement unsettled at times, typical puppy that has promise. Best Puppy

Post Graduate (1/0)

1st Addoo, Misses L & J Reulemill Floss Lass

18 month female, well balanced and in correct proportions. Pleasing head, framed by correctly set ears and almond shaped yet. Lots of positive virtues. Spanable, good coat, correct rear angulation and straight front. Feminine in all aspects and well deserved her Best of Breed.

Open (1/0)

1st Addoo, Misses L & J Reulemill Quaacajack

Plenty of drive and enthusiasm on this young male. Friendly with a sound temperament. Moved ok but could have had slightly better rear movement today. Good dentition. Deep/wide chest. Correct ear set. Correct proportions, longer body with strong close coupled loin. Reserve Best of Breed.

Fox Terrier (Smooth)

Post Graduate (3/2 abs)

1st Brookes Mr AJ & Mrs M, Zetamaz Stand and Deliver

13 month old male with such a cheeky look, he took my eye straight away. A keen handsome boy with some maturing still to do, however he is developing nicely and showing lots of promise. Correct ear carriage and good dentition. Clean well laid back shoulders, clean correct neck and a correct straight front. Good for size. Pushed hard for Best of Breed but unsettled movement at times, walking a little wide at the rear today and lost out to the overall BOB.

Open (2/1abs)

1st Brookes Mr AJ & Mrs M, Ch Zetamaz I’m Your Man JW

Confident 3 year old male, lots of ring presence and handled to perfection. Correct pleasing head, all in appropriate proportions. Correct ear set and attractive eye. Straight front with correct bone, clean neck and shoulders. Excels in rear hindquarters, with correct angulation to stifle and hock, giving impression of strength and power. Best of Breed and went on to Group 1 in the Terrier Group.

2nd Gleave & Kenwright Miss L & Mr J, Ch Jodean Jitterbug at Tamedale

4 year old bitch, handled well by her young handler. Feminine smart appearance, with correct coat and presented in first class condition. Good pleasing head, correct ear carriage and eye. I have made particular reference in my notes to her lovely shoulder placement and front angulation. Correct rear angulation rewarding excellent movement. Correct tail set.

1st Miss L Gleave, Ch Laketrix Prima Ballerina

What a super compact 2 year old girl, presented in 1st class condition, handled and groomed to perfection. Whilst she stood alone she was a worthy Best of Breed. Head was all in proportion and ears were of correct size and set. Straight front with correct shoulder angulation. Excellent rear angulation and everything in proportion. Moved straight with good drive.

Skye Terriers

Junior (2/1abs)

1st Heale & Davies Miss A & Mr S, Rhoderns Arbika Of Trelawneki

9 month male, playful outlook. Movement a little unsettled but I am sure he will settle as he gets older. Well presented and in immaculate condition. Correct ear set and carriage, good dentition and correct eye. Developing nicely. Best Puppy in Breed.

Open (5 / 2abs)

1st Turner, Miss O, Knowlespring Quincy ShCEx

Mature 4 year old male, presented in excellent condition. Coat in tip top condition. Good strong bone with straight front and correct front angulation. Correct rear angulation. Pleasing movement that couldn’t be faulted, covered ground well, straight from all profiles and held top line well. Best of Breed.

2nd Burscough, Mr A, Kilfinan Nightingail

Pretty feminine girl in correct proportions, she moved well with elegance and drive. Correct eye, ear set which framed a lovely head. Level topline on the move, rear view not as clear to see but moved straight. She fought hard for 1st place and it was a hard class to choose between the 2.

3rd Heale & Davies Miss A & Mr S, Rhoderns Helena

Welsh Terrier

Junior – No Entries

Post Graduate (1/1abs)

Open (2/0)

This was a very hard class to judge and I like both exhibits for their differing virtues, sadly only 1 can be picked for 1st place. Both were expertly handled and presented to perfection.

1st Jones, Mrs W & Mr M, Cwnogion Eldra Aur

Well presented 3 year old female, compact profile with a pleasing correct feminine head. Lovely ear carriage. Balanced with no exaggeration. Good front and rear angulation, correct topline reflecting free flowing movement with enough drive. Best of Breed.

2nd Humphries, Mr K S, Penparc Skyfall

Another super Welsh example, I could never imagine he was 9 years old, a credit to his owner. Lovely masculine head, ears carried well. Held topline well, a true showman but I did prefer the movement of the 1st today.
