German Spitz Breeders & Owners Club

GERMAN SPITZ (MITTEL)

Thank you to the GSB&O club for giving me the opportunity to judge this open show following their first CH show. The atmosphere around the ring was fantastic & I was blown away by the entry. We finished as the sun was setting & I am honoured that so many stayed until the end. Thanks also to the committee & my steward for keeping things running as they should. Whilst I was pleased with my main winners I thought movement generally needs improvement, in both sizes - toeing in, too close behind & many crabbing on 3 tracks .... oh and teeth - it only takes a minute to give them a clean - temperaments were great & I enjoyed all of the kisses I was given

Class: 15 Baby Puppy Dog 2 Entries 1 Absent

1ST FRANCIS & PEARCE'S LONGSDALE’S HOPE IN YA HEART 4½ months black dog puppy of good type with very good bone and substance. Should be ok for size and presented a well balanced outline. Masculine head without being coarse, he has a correct scissor bite and lovely dark oval eyes. Excellent temperament and he moved really well for one so young. Best Baby Puppy in Breed

Class: 17 Puppy Dog 2 Entries 1 Absent

1ST SAICH'S LINDCOLY DON'T STOP ME NOW NAF Just 6 months old blue dog puppy with excellent pigment for a blue. Very well off for bone and size. Good wedge shaped head with a kind expression and correct scissor bite. Would prefer ears a little smaller and set closer. Good coat coming through and he moved ok Best Puppy Dog

Class: 18 Junior Dog 3 Entries

Two litter brothers with very little between them and I'm sure they will swap places often

1ST ROGERSON'S CADASARO GEORGIE WITH NOSREGOR (IKC) 14 months cream. This dog was the showman supreme! Lovely type with excellent bone & substance. He had an attractive wedge shaped head enhanced by the darkest of pigment, excellent eye shape and medium ears. Good mouth. Nice reach of neck into a well shaped body topped off with an excellent tail, set well and carried over his back at all times. Moved ok with a particularly good side gait and demonstrated a great temperament throughout. Reserve Best Dog

2ND O'LEARY'S CADASARO GERHARD [ATC ATCBB84750IKC] 14 months lighter cream dog Many of the above comments apply. I particularly appreciated his compact, almost square outline and moderate angulation. Also a good mover, he just looked like he didn't want to show himself off.

3RD SAICH'S LINDCOLY DON'T STOP ME NOW NAF

Class: 19 Post Graduate Dog 4 Entries 2 Absent

1ST WILSON'S IZLOU EVERDAY I'M TRUFFLING AT FLYTESWAY 2 year old black of good type. Typical spitz head with dark eyes and correct scissor bite. Well ribbed with a short loin giving an almost square outline. Would prefer a touch more bone and a more masculine outlook but he's still young. Good harsh coat. Moved well, especially from the side which helped to win him this class

2ND ROGERSON'S NOSREGOR STICKING AROUND Nearly 2 year old cream sable whom I have judged before as a puppy. He has really come on and I believe there is still more to come. Excellent temperament. Attractive head with dark eyes, good ear set and correct bite. Good length of neck into a firm body. Good angles fore and aft with a harsh coat. Wouldn't co-operate with his handler on the move so had to pay the price

Class: 20 Limit Dog 10 Entries, 3 Absent

A difficult class - some dogs I really like just didn't move as well as expected

1ST CHAPMAN'S KITSUNE GYPSY KING (AI) 2 year old black of excellent type and substance. Very well off for bone. He has a masculine head, with dark oval shaped eyes and good ear set. Excellent reach of neck into a good straight front with tight elbows, catlike feet and well arched toes. His body is well knit but he has an unfortunate habit of dropping his tail which spoils his lovely outline and makes him look long - Moved very wel1 from all angles

2ND BARNES & KING'S IZLOU YOU KNOW YOU LOVE ME OF CLARAN Nearly 3 year old black of very good type . Masculine with good bone without being coarse. Attractive wedge shaped head with dark expressive eyes and neat ears. Correct harsh coat, well set tail carried proudly over his back and neat catlike feet. Good shoulders laid well back coupled with a decent length of upper arm and matching moderate hind angulation. He moved very well, particularly in profile

3RD ROGERSON'S NOSREGOR IN A LAND OF MYTH

Class: 21 Open Dog 8 Entries 3 Absent

1ST PEARCE, FRANCIS & ROBERTS' CH LONGSDALE'S REBEL ROUSER AT CWRTAFON JW OSW 5½ year old black whom I have admired for a long time. Top size (but under the measure) he presented a well balanced picture demonstrating excellent breed type. Excellent temperament. His head is medium large with a broad skull tapering to a wedge shape at his nose. Masculine without coarseness, his eyes are dark and expressive. Being hyper critical I'd prefer slightly smaller ears although they are very well set. Good mouth. Moderate angles with a well ribbed up body with a short loin. Lovely straight legs with neat, cat like feet. Beautifully presented with a jet black double coat of correct texture and excellent tail set. Level topline which he held on the move and it is that movement that I loved - straight, brisk and effortless from all angles. Best dog, Best of Breed and ultimately, Best in Show

2ND BLIGHT'S CH/IR CH/INT CH IZLOU FLOAT MA BOAT 5½ year old black and tan of excellent type. Presented in first class condition with a happy, equable temperament. Loved his masculine head with dark obliquely placed eyes and small ears set rather high. He is well off for bone and shows substance without being coarse. His body is firm with moderate angulation. He had an abundant coat of correct harsh texture and was very attentive to his handler, although he can stand a fraction long at times. Movement was good from all angles and he is a worthy champion

3RD SAICH'S LINDCOLY SIMBA

Class: 22 Veteran Dog 4 Entries 2 Absent

1ST ROBERTS' CH LONGSDALE'S TURNING TABLES AT CWRTAFON 8½ year old cream displaying typical breed type with a very good temperament. Good wedge shaped head with dark eyes and well set ears. Good mouth. Moderately short neck into an excellent forehand with straight, well-boned legs. Standing foursquare on neat catlike feet His movement was good especially in profile. Just starting to drop his tail a tad. Best Veteran Dog

2ND SAICH'S IR CH LINDCOLY MISCHIEF MAKER 9½ year old black out of a smaller mould than 1 with bone to match. Still a very nice type. Exuberant temperament - nobody has told this dog he's supposed to settle down in old age. He had a fabulous coat of the correct harsh texture. Compact, nearly square body shape, level topline with a correctly set tail carried well. Movement was erratic and not easy to assess but he had a great time

Class: 23 Puppy Bitch 4 Entries 2 Absent

1ST ANDREW'S CLARAN MOON BEAM 9 month old cream sable and white Very mature for her age and I was quite taken with her. Beautiful feminine head with erect ears and dark expressive eyes, set obliquely. Good mouth with a correct scissor bite. Nice reach of neck into excellent shoulders and straight front. Standing four square on tight, cat-like feet she presented a pleasing outline with abundant coat of the correct texture. She was handled very well to move confidently with a brisk, light action Best Puppy Bitch, Best Puppy In Breed and Best Puppy in Show

2ND SAICH'S LINDCOLY IT'S A KIND OF MAGIC NAF Just 6 months black Giving away a lot in maturity, this pup was very much a baby. She presented excellent breed type with a lot of promise. Feminine wedge head with a good mouth. Compact, almost square silhouette and balanced moderate angulation. Movement was erratic and hard to assess

Class: 24 Junior Bitch 5 Entries 1 Absent

1ST FRANCIS & PEARCE'S LONGSDALE LET DA GAMES BEGIN 16 months glamorous cream. Stood out in this class with her excellent breed type and faultless presentation. Lovely wedge shaped head enhanced with excellent dark pigmentation, expressive eyes and slightly large ears. Nice reach of neck into a well muscled body with well sprung ribs and a strong loin. Very good tail, set correctly and carried curled well over her back. Excellent coat texture. Moved ok particularly well in side action

2ND SAICH'S LINDCOLY TRUST IN ME NAF 6½ months blue sable Another just a baby but I liked her a lot. Pleasing breed type and very feminine without losing substance. Appealing head into a well knit body. Attractive coat coming through with a very good texture. Excellent temperament. She moved well for one so young. Reserve Best Puppy Bitch

1ST BARNES & KING'S IZLOU THE TRUFFLE MAKER 2 year old very pretty black. Ultra feminine head with dark eyes giving an appealing expression. Good mouth and neat ears which she used well. Enough reach of neck into a balanced, compact, well-angulated body. Well presented with a decent amount of correctly textured coat. Moved well from the side but persisted in crabbing away and back

2ND SAICH'S LINDCOLY SHE'S A KNOCKOUT 17 months wolf sable Typical for breed type this girl presented an almost square outline. An attractive head with a nearly flat skull and good length of muzzle. Expressive eyes and neat ears. She moved ok when settled

Class: 26 Limit Bitch 6 Entries, 3 Absent

1ST FRANCIS & PEARCE'S LONGSDALE'S DON'T KNOW MUCH 2½ year old cream Another from this kennel who stood out with excellent presentation and handling. Lovely for breed type and size. Very feminine but again with ample bone and substance Excellent headpiece with dark oval eyes and correct bite. Her body is well ribbed with a moderate tuck up and elbows held close to her body. Coat coming back though of the correct texture with a well plumed tail. She can stand slightly stretched which makes her look long. Moved well.

2ND DREW'S DOROLUNA'S DIAMOND CROWN 2½ year old black from a smaller mould, this feminine bitch had a beautiful head with neat ears. Good wedge shape with a correct bite and dark eyes. Compact body in very good condition with a nice, harsh coat. Excellent, willing temperament which she displayed by co-operating at all times with her very young handler (well done!) Movement seen was OK

Elbows held close, she has good straight legs and nicely arched cat feet. Moderately angulated with good substance she held her topline with a well carried tail. Movement was very good from all angles. She was at one with her handler and beautifully presented. Best Bitch and Reserve Best of Breed

She has a feminine wedge-shaped head with dark, oval eyes and neat ears. She has a good reach of neck into a body that is so well-balanced with the correct moderate angulation and tuck up. She has a level topline and high set tail. Not carrying a huge coat, what she has only enhances her body shape and is of excellent texture. At one with her handler, movement was very good from all angles. Reserve Best Bitch, Best Veteran in Breed and Best Veteran in Show
