German Spitz Breeders & Owners Club

GERMAN SPITZ (KLEIN)

Thank you to the GSB&O club for giving me the opportunity to judge this open show following the first CH show. The atmosphere around the ring was fantastic and I was blown away by the entry. We finished as the sun was setting and I am honoured that so many stayed until the end. Thanks also to the committee and my steward for keeping things running as they should. Whilst I was pleased with my main winners I thought movement generally needs improvement, in both sizes - toeing in, too close behind and many crabbing on 3 tracks .... oh and teeth - it only takes a minute to give them a clean - temperaments were great and I enjoyed all of the kisses I was given

1st ANDREW'S CLARAN EDGE OF GLORY TAF 5½ month adorable black/seal boy of good breed type. Neat, wedge-shaped head enhanced by excellent pigment and dark oval eyes with a melting expression. Correct scissor bite. His body was compact and short-coupled with just enough bone for his size. Coat coming through well and his tail was carried proudly over his back at all times. He was so well schooled and moved very well with both handlers which gave him Best Baby Puppy in Breed

Class: 2 Baby Puppy Bitch 1 Entries

1st ANDREW'S CLARAN ETERNAL FLAME TAF 5½ month delightful orange sable girl with a dark mask. Good head with a flatish skull and tapering to wedge shape. Mischievous expression with dark, oval eyes set obliquely. Ears were ok for her age. Moderately short neck into a well ribbed body. I found her a fraction longer in outline than her brother but at this age things can change. Well let down hocks and neat cat-like feet. I'm sure she's well trained on the move but she had no intention of demonstrating it today so was impossible to assess

1st FRANCIS & PEARCE & WILLIAMS LONGSDALE'S DANCE WITH ME TREBETTYN 17 months sable of very good breed type and size. Balanced throughout with a correct wedge shaped head, neat well-set ears and lovely dark, oval eyes giving an appealing expression. Correct bite. Good bone and substance. His topline just flows from his moderately short neck, well ribbed body to his high set tail carried well. Glamourous full coat but not overdone. His movement was effortless and precise from all angles Reserve Best Dog

2nd ROGERSON'S NOSREGOR TAKE IT ALL 2 year old black I love his breed type. He presents an almost square outline with just enough bone and substance. His gorgeous wedge shaped head is medium large with dark, expressive eyes and neat well set ears. His angulation is balanced being moderate fore and aft, with good round ribs and a short, strong loin. He held his level topline and his well plumed tail was carried well at all times. Straight legs on neat cat feet he moved well but was a touch narrow behind. Excellent temperament - Unlucky to meet 1

1st FRANCIS & PEARCE'S CH LONGSDALE'S REMEMBER ME 2½ year old brown who demanded my attention as she did the first time I saw her. Excellent colour for a brown, she presented a beautiful, balanced silhouette, nearly square, with good breed type. Not the biggest but she has adequate bone and substance to match her size. Very good, feminine head with good eye colour and pigment. Correct bite. She has neat ears, well set, which she used to advantage. Good reach of neck into an excellent forehand with a decent chest. Well ribbed up with moderate tuck up and balanced hindquarters. Her tail is set high and carried well. Her movement was good from all angles but can be a tad exuberant in profile. Best Bitch and Reserve Best of Breed

2nd BRADBURY & GODRIDGE'S WYCHLEA IN THE PURPLE 7 years old top quality black girl, unlucky to meet 1 because this is my type of bitch! Standing four-square she presents a typical outline. Good for size, she is well off for bone and substance whilst retaining an air of femininity. Beautiful head, although being hyper critical I'd prefer darker eyes, with well set ears. Well developed forechest, good reach of neck into excellent shoulders. Straight legs with flexible pasterns and tight catlike feet. Well let down hocks and good hind angulation which produced fluid, brisk, effortless movement. Dense, harsh, black coat beautifully presented and well handled.
