Open Show held on 6th October 2024

I would like to thank the Officers and Committee for their kind invitation to judge at the final Beckenham Open Show. It is very sad to be losing another local Canine Society, having recently closed the Worthing & DCS. I have very fond memories from past Beckenham Shows including a RBIS and a RBPIS.

I wish to thank the exhibitors who entered under me to show their exhibits, but also to thank them for supporting the final show.

Long Coat Chihuahuas

Puppy (5-1)

1st Barker; Baralicia Jenny Wren

Showy 9-month-old red bitch with white chest, toes and muzzle. Displayed a happy temperament showing well and was attentive to her handler. Displayed nicely shaped bodylines which were covered in a well-presented coat and furnishings, when she was standing and on the move. Good shape to dome skull, well set ear placements. Bright dark shapely eyes, good depth to stop and length to muzzle. Clean neckline kept a level topline, good tail set. Well boned, neat feet, good depth to chest, shapely hindquarters. Always moving smartly around the ring, very much on her toes.

2nd Jones: Flickan Angie’s Spirit

Attractive 8-month white puppy bitch. Feminine balanced head portraying jet black pigmentation to nose and eyes. Good domed skull used her large ears well. Carried her head well on a good length of neck. Well, coated overall of good length, good furnishing to ears and tail. Sound conformation throughout, straight front and defined hindquarters. Well bodied, good ribcage, good coverage to hindquarters. Moved with flare and sound movement around the ring, another on her toes showing all the time.

1st Jones: Flickan Flapjack

Dainty young 10-month fawn and sable bitch, lovely, sweet head and expression, coal black pigment to nose and dark shapely eyes. Young lady with lots of charm really enjoyed showing herself off, always moving briskly around the ring, good drive to the rear. Displayed a good profile when on the move and standing. In good coat and condition, a well-presented coat of good length. Liked her overall shape and soundness, well developed body for age good angulation front and rear, keeping a level topline and always carrying her tail well. Awarded BPIB and Puppy Toy Group 3rd.

2nd Cater: Lykath’s Laura Thyme in Pixels

Charming 15-month red and white bitch, such a happy little soul, attentive to her handler, lovely little showgirl. Pretty head, good dome shape to skull, correct length to muzzle. Lovely soft dark round eyes, black nose. Used her well set ears to good advantage carried her head well, good length to neck, well laid shoulders, straight front, sound in body and well-constructed throughout, good bend to stifle used and carried her tail well. Lovely condition to coat of good length covering her shapely body frame. Displayed a good brisk stride always holding her topline.

Smart well coated 13-month-old bitch beautifully presented soft white coat with gold patches and lovely facial markings, with good furnishings overall. Well, carried head on a good length to neck, lovely shape to skull, large bright dark round eyes, good length to muzzle, coal black nose. Always used her ears well. Firm topline leading to a well-placed furry tail carried correctly. Displayed a shapely body profile with good angulation front and rear. On the move carried herself to advantage, lovely brisk movement overing the ground well. Lovely little showgirl.

1st Jones: Flickan Fragrant Flower

Commanding red sable 2 years old bitch, who just loved showing herself off, always on her toes. Pretty with attractive headpiece, saucy expression, large dark well shaped round eyes, good apple dome to skull, large flaring ear placed correctly. Clean neckline, well laid should placements, good depth to chest. Moved soundly with drive holding her topline and always using her tail. Well-presented coat of good colour and texture with lovely furnishing overall. Pleased to award her BOB and Toy Group 4

2nd Barker: Baralicia Red Ruby

Grand 10-year-old red lady who could teach some of the youngsters a thing or two. Plenty of personality to move freely with style around the ring, always standing naturally attentive to her handler. Good breed type head, good apple dome skull, appealing expression, good ear carriage and eye placement, dark pigmentation. Well, coated overall good ruff to chest, furry tail and trousers. Displayed a good make and shape to body always keeping a level topline.

1st Swinge, Swinge, Swinge & Saffer: Myter Crème Caramel at Balthazar

Delightful young 13-month-old fawn bitch, who was so full of herself, really on her toes and was making her handler work, none the less she just showed her socks off. Attractive feminine head lovely black mask, coal black nose good open nostrils, large round dark soulful eyes. Lovely shape to head, good width to jaw well defined wrinkles not overdone, correctly placed well used ears. Head carried well on a slightly crested neck leading to a firm topline and tightly curled tail carried correctly. On the move held herself well, showing off her good front and rear angulation and her sound front and rear movement. Please to award her RBOB.

1st Truelove: Nijacpugs Hot an Bothered

Handsome two-year-old fawn male very sure of himself, really stood proud always showing himself to advantage. Lovely masculine headpiece, large well shaped dark round eyes, good round skull shape, short blunt muzzle, black open nostril nose, broad lower jaw line. Good width and depth to chest, well-built body frame covered in soft, smooth coat of good texture. Strong topline, leading to a well place curled tail. Well-turned hindquarters giving him the strength to move out and around the ring in a true fashion.

1st Saffer & Swinge: Bubbapug Summer Sundae JW

Attractive quality fawn 15-month-old bitch, feminine balanced round head, lovely black mask, clearly defined wrinkles, large round bright dark eyes, open nostrils to black nose. Good width to lower jaw. Well, set soft ears, head always carried proudly on a lovely slightly crested neck. Good shoulder placements, plenty depth to cobby body, good spring to ribcage, well boned throughout. Lovely profile when standing spirit level topline, correctly placed twisted tail. Moved freely showing off her lovely conformation and displaying plenty of animation. A real showgirl and attentive to her handler always, pleased to award her BOB and the Toy Group.

2nd Truelove: Nijacpugs Hot as Hell JW

Fawn litter brother to winner of the Post Graduate class, both lovely boys and a credit to their owners. Manly exhibit, good quality masculine headpiece, expressive expression good black mask and open nostril nose. Firm broad lower jaw, correct blunt muzzle. Lovely strong neck, set into good shoulders, well developed muscled body, broad chest, frame well built, good bone throughout. Displayed a steady and sound movement on the move around the ring showing of his good profile.

1st Maclaine: Pennygown Tiktok ( Pomeranian)

What a little poppit a lovely cream 6-month-old puppy dog at his first show. One who I could have taken home quite happily. Presented in a beautiful coat, lovely ruff around and framing head, soft undercoat and bringing together both texture and colour to outer coat, well-furnishings to chest, hindquarters and tail for age. Endearing foxy facial features bright dark eyes, lovely shape to head, neat small erect ears always used well. Correct bite, good length to muzzle, coal black nose. Head always carried proudly, on a lovely shortish neck, correct level topline, leading to a well-placed plumed tail. Moved freely with style, displaying a lovely shapely body frame and attitude, while having fun showing off. Please to award him Best AVNSC Puppy and Toy Puppy Winner.

2nd Needham: Cotoncloude Top of the Table (Coton De Tulear)

Glamourous looking 11-month- old bitch, soft feminine head and expression, slight stop between large dark soft eyes with black rims. Good length to muzzle, correct bite, well hung feathered covered ears, correctly set high on shapely skull. Head carried in a graceful manner on a slightly crested neck leading onto well laid shoulders. Good forechest, true front and correct topline, well-proportioned body, nicely set and carried plumed tail, well angulated behind and full of herself when on the move, displaying an easy and sound action. Wearing a lovely presented groomed coat of good texture and length.

Impressive young 13-month-old tri colour male has an important air about him, with a just look at me as he stood showing himself off. Most handsome appealing headpiece, saucy expression, sparkling jet-black eyes, full of interest. Apple dome skull correctly placed large flaring ears, defined stop, correct bite, coal black nose. Slightly arched neck flowing into well laid shoulders, well sprung ribcage, sturdy topline and correct tail set. Body covered in a lovely glossy coat in good condition. Stood well over the ground, showing off his lovely breed profile, well-muscled throughout, when on the move displayed a flowing movement using his firm hindquarters well.

2nd Bartlett: Exotic Spirit Undercover of the Darkness Avec Michadaine (Powder Puff Chinese Crested

Handsome and glamorous 15-month-old male shown in a beautiful soft steel grey with some white along with black furnishings to ears and head crest, soft long well-presented and conditioned coat. Clean lines to head and well chiselled face and muzzle, deep black pigment to eyes and nose, soft typical expression. Used his erected ears, scored in his lean neck, firm, good laid of shoulders placements, good spring to ribs with plenty of heart room. Good overall body shape well balanced and muscled throughout. Moved with style covering the ground well, carrying his tail high and correct.

Dainty 23- month- old black bitch, has lovely show present, very much on her toes a natural showgirl. Sweet temperament, foxy expression, expressive well shaped dark eyes. Small neat erect ears placed correctly on skull. Coal black nose, refine muzzle, correct bite. Good breed type in body make and shape. Finely boned throughout, short compact body with level topline, well ribbed. Body well covered in a lovely, presented coat, good furnishings to ruff, hindquarters and full plumed tail carried well over back. Delightful on the move with a good positive attitude showing herself off with her sound movement.

2nd Smith: Chibull Micky Mouse at Lozek (Smooth Coated Chihuahua)

Smart 2-year-old fawn male, who displayed a clean-cut overall breed profile. A well-presented coat covering a shapely sound body, presented a lovely picture when standing and on the move. On the move used his hindquarters to display a steady and sound movement. Manly headpiece good shape to apple dome skull, cheeky saucy expression, lovely dark round eyes, good depth to defined stop, correct length to muzzle. Flaring erect ears showing his good ear carriage. Clean neckline, leading to a firm level topline, then to a well-placed tail set, sickle tail carried up and over back.

Striking and immaculately presented 3 years old tri male, looked a picture and certainly did not disappoint when on the move, when he strode out, he moved well and covered the ground in a true stylish fashion. Worked with his handler to display a picture when standing, of a typical breed profile. Appealing headpiece, manly facial features good even markings, clear blaze between dark rounded eyes. Good stop and length to muzzle, head finished with well-defined erect butterfly long fringed ears which framed the face. Good length to neck flowing into well laid shoulders and chest. Lovely overall construction, all pieces fitting correctly and covered in a clean silky textured coat, with full plumed tail. Pleased to award Best AVNSC Toy and Reserve Toy Group Winner

2nd Maclaine: Atlina Lets Dance to Pennygown (Pomeranian)

Graceful 4-year-old orange bitch mother of Tiktok winner of Best Puppy in the Toy Group. Most delightful exhibit attractive feminine foxy head and expression, lovely small neat ears and dark eye placements. Carried her head well on a short neck, leading to good, angulated shoulders and upper arm, good legs and small compact feet, stood true front and rear. Body made of good proportions and well-muscled throughout, good plumed tailset. Well angulated hindquarters, and well off for bone. Lovely showgirl who showed nonstop for her handler showing herself off in a full coat and furnishing on her shapely profile. Pleased to award her Reserve Best AVNSC and later in the BIS ring won Runner up Best Reserve Best of Breed in Show.

Pretty, happy 12 -month Blenheim bitch, attractive well broken up rich tan markings on a pearly white background. Soft feminine headpiece, lovely high set leathers well feathered, flat skull, good depth to stop, coal black nose, plenty of cushioning to muzzle and under dark soft eyes. Good crest to neckline onto well laid shoulders, well-developed and proportioned body for age. Always kept a good steady topline, moving freely with drive to rear and reach in front. Well, presented soft silky coat of good length, good, feathered tail. Lovely young exhibit who displayed all the essentials required.

1st Davidson-Poston: CH/IR/NL/Int CH Spinllons Rebel Rowser JW ShCM CW14 VW ShCEx VCH (Papillon)

Stunning nearly 14-year-old black and white dog, have judged this exhibit before where he won RBVIS and today he still displayed a commanding showmanship performance in the ring. Total credit to his handler/breeder who always puts her dogs in the ring in an immaculate condition. Absolute pleasure to go over him again, looked a picture when standing very typical, so much on his toes, so full of his own importance. Well, made with nothing to hide, total honest in his movement. Handsome shapely head, well fringed large ears correctly set, carried his head proudly, kept a level topline leading to a well plumed tail arched over his back. Lovely long silky well marked coat. Please to award him Best AV Toy Veteran and was delighted to see him win RBVIS again.

2nd Bartlett: Michadaine Crazy for You ShCM VW (Powder Puff Chinese Crested)

Another well-known exhibit I have judged before and was delighted to judge him again, I was spoilt for choice with these two exhibits, both were a credit to the owners. Upstanding 10-year-old male, delightful character and total showman. On the move carried himself proudly, moved soundly with drive holding his topline, well-presented coat flowing over his well-proportioned contoured body. Handsome head, high well fringed ears, good crest framing his face. Well chiselled muzzle dark expressive eyes, lovely alert expression. Clean long neck, good front and rear angles, used his tail well.

Promising 6-month-old Blenheim dog, displayed a lovely profile standing and on the move. Showed a good spring of rib and forechest, good depth of chest, well covered hindquarters for age. Lovely, shaped head, flat skull between high set feathered leathers. Expressive dark eyes, good depth to stop, jet black nose, good length to muzzle. Displayed a good length to neck, held a steady topline, leading to a correctly placed tail. Moved in a happy manner showing a sound pace around the ring, showing off his nicely broken up silky coat, covering his frame well.

1st Thornton: Julemark Primrose at Maplelayne JW (Beagle)

Cracking tan and white 3-year-old bitch, beautifully handled to get the best from her, displayed a lovely shaped well angulated breed profile, covering the ground well when standing, proudly showing off her attractive head shape, well hung leathers framing her face. Feminine expression, well-shaped eyes correctly set, good length to muzzle. Lovely flow of neck into a solid topline, correctly set tail which was used to advantage and carried well on the move. Moved out well in all directions, displayed a firm accurate movement overall. Delightful temperament, a lovely showgirl.

2nd Hills & Thornton: Absolute Afghans Djibouti at Karnak JW (Nor) (Afghan)

Stylish 4-year-old gold black masked male, a lovely dignified and aloof exhibit who just loved always showing himself off. Shown in a beautiful condition, lovely long coat draping well over his shapely body. Masculine head, framed by long silky haired leathers, long muzzle. strong jawline. Long neckline, lovely front assembly, good legs and feet. Good depth to chest, elbows close to ribcage. Maintained a lovely topline displaying his prominent hipbones, carrying his tail with the classic ring at the end. Really flowed around the ring with a typical springy movement covering the ring surface well.
