English Setters

Puppy

1 – Mrs L Taylor – Wansleydale Honey Bee

Nine-month-old Tri bitch with such a lovely head giving her a true English expression, with dark almond shaped eyes. Nice arch to neck with clean shoulder placement, level topline, good bend to stifle with nice short hocks, moved out well. BP & RBB

2 – Ms J S Hingley – Wansleydale Bee Quick

Litter mate to 1 and boy did he lead his handler a merry dance, he has similar qualities to his sister but not as mature and very unsteady on the move.

Post Grad

1 – Mrs B Seaman – Mariglen Indigo

Lovely Blue Belton bitch who was as pleasing to go over as she was on the stack. Very feminine and elegant she has a super head with correct eye and ear placement, just the right amount of neck with deep chest and straight forelegs. Level topline and well-muscled second thigh. I thought she looked stunning on the move and was delighted to award her BOB.

2 – Mr L Miller – Ravensett Calvaro

Orange Belton who was unlucky to come up against 1. Head of correct proportions, straight front, good depth of chest, did not move out as well as winner.

Open

1 – Ms A Hopper – Bramstorm Forest Sprite

8 yr old boy still going strong for his age with good body proportions. Masculine head with ears of correct length. Moved with drive.

Gordon Setter

Open

1 – Ms A Ashley-Turner – Hernwood the Botanist JW ShCEx OSW

Stunning 3 yr old boy who I would be proud to own. This dog is so sound and I was delighted to see he went Gundog Group 1. Kindly expression with well-defined stop, just the right amount of flews. Long nicely arched neck, well let down elbows with deep chest and well sprung ribs. He has a super length of stifle with lovely short hocks which he uses to the fullest when moving. Excelled in outline both standing and on move. BOB & Gundog Group 1

2 – Mrs S & Miss K Wrigley – Kattandale Blac Highlander

Feminine bitch, good head proportions with no snipiness, nicely arched neck with straight forelegs. I would have preferred more bend of stifle.

Irish Red and White Setter

Puppy

1 – Tait Mrs J – Talintyre Fomhar Reiver

Gorgeous puppy with a head and expression to die for. Good stop with nicely domed skull and square muzzle. Still very raw but with promising body proportions, nice muscular neck, strong bone and good hock to heel ratio. BP

2 – Miss V Jarvis – Settersay Targaryen Lowdon

Pretty girl, I would have preferred more of her but nevertheless she has the correct round eye and good ear placement. Nice tail set with coat of the correct texture.

Post Grad

1 – Mrs S Hutchinson – Siorrludh Red Velvet

Feminine bitch, with nicely domed skull and well-set ears. Appealing outline I would just have preferred more substance to her.

Open

1 – Tait Mrs J – Talintyre Winter Spice

4 yr old bitch who I see is the dam of my Puppy winner. Textbook expression, good skull and eye shape with well set ears. Good crest, well laid-back shoulders with nice deep chest and well sprung ribs. Strong hindquarters which she used to her advantage on the move. BOB

Irish Setter

Puppy

1 – Mrs J M Lorrimer Gwendariff Disco Dazzler (IKC)

7-month puppy with beautiful chiselled head, great stop and well defined occiput. Lovely dark, almond shaped eyes, well tucked in elbows, good depth of chest, nice straight forelegs and lovely sloping topline. Strong second thigh, on the move he had drive with a super lashing tail. BP

Junior

1 – Mr L Miller – Alolfrana I Gotta Feeling

13-month-old boy well presented with a gleaming jacket, correct sloping topline, good bone, strong in loin nice short hocks, moved with drive.

2 – Pickerill & Hambrey Miss C & Miss A – Scokira Emerald Moon

Another 13-month-old who reminded me very much of the Brackenfield dogs. She could do with more body on her but nevertheless she has a lovely deep chest, good topline and is strong across her loin.

Post Grad

1 – Mrs S Cole – Riverbrue Ophelia Bobby

Handsome boy with correct almond shape eye, good length of muzzle to stop ratio, well let down elbows with lovely depth of chest. Well laid-back shoulders, sloping topline and strong loin. Moved with drive.

2 – Mrs S Corless – Swiftlark Illustrious (JW)

Very close to 1 in both outline and finer points just preferred the movement of my winner.

Open

1 – Mrs S Corless – Swiftlark Spellbinder

Boy with lovely overall balance, lovely dark well placed almond eyes, good ear set with plenty of feathering, straight forelegs and well sprung ribs, strong across the loin and well developed second thigh, well bent stifles with short hocks, moved with drive. BOB

2 – Miss V Jarvis – Lowdon to Darn Hot

A dog with some nice qualities overall but personally I would have preferred a darker eye and better shoulder placement.
