Cambuslang Canine Club

Breed: Hound Group

Cambuslang Canine Club 22/12/24

Thank you to the committee for the invitation to judge some quality filled hound breeds and the hound group at this friendly show. My stewards Mandy and Susan were excellent and kept the ring order flowing, thank you.

Afghan Hound Graduate

1st Moyes, Lockett-Davies, Shaw & Hunter Ryan’s Rhazmakh Heart O’Summer by Bryelis

A very dignified black/silver bitch. She is very feminine with a rather lovely head. Stacked she is a nice shape and on the move she has a fabulous spring to her movement. Loved her head and tail carriage when she strode out smoothly. Very well presented and handled. Lost her confidence in the group which was a shame as I really liked her, BOB.

Borzoi Open

1st Dollan & Ralston’s Scotach Need for Speed

A graceful white & red sable of 2 years. This bitch has a feminine, long and lean head with well filled in below eyes. She has a nice outline stacked and moved out effortlessly. Shown in super condition, BOB.

Basset Hound Open

1st Johnston’s Burnvale Black Diamond

A 3 year old black blanket tricolour bitch who looked like she had been having a bit of a phantom. Correctly sized and with lots to like about her. She has a nicely shaped feminine head with long low ears and a nice depth of lip. Her eye is good and occiput correct. She stands on good feet, has a pleasing bend of stifle and a firm back. I liked her tailset and carriage on the move.

Dachshund Mini Wire Haired Open

1st Goodbrand’s Bargemon Soft as Starlight for Braesnobel

10 months of age wild boar bitch. A little overawed by the occasion today. She has a nice clean outline with a good front and a pleasing shaped head. I loved her long neck which gracefully reached her correct shoulders and excellent depth of chest.

Dachshund Mini Smooth Haired Open

1st Anderson & Watt’s Shantallah Song of the Lark by Nisyros

Shaded red bitch of 2 years. This little sweetheart made me smile from the moment she entered the ring. Full of character, she gave her handler a hard time initially. Once settled, her many virtues could not be overlooked and I discovered an unexaggerated, well conditioned feminine package. I felt she had the best head in the class with a slightly arched skull and well rounded, high set ears. Her movement was so free and parallel.

2nd Anderson & Watt’s Bronia Bellina Nisyros

This 15 month old shaded red bitch presented a different outline to 1st. I preferred her topline on the move to stacked and when moving she was a picture. She has a nice length of neck, free stride and a rather lovely tailset and carriage.

3rd Barbi’s Fiery Ember

Dachshund Long Haired Open

1st Maxwell’s Swansford Padamor

I was really quite taken with this 10 month old shaded red young male. Despite being young, it is easy to see the potential he has. He is masculine, unexaggerated and was the best mover in the class. Shown and presented in super condition, his soft and straight coat was gleaming. I particularly loved his long head with a slightly domed skull and neat lips. He has a clean, muscular and long neck which leads to a rather lovely front assembly. I am sure he will have a bright future.

2nd Sloan, Dunbar & McNaughton’s Cedavoch Dark Magic

Black & tan male of four years. He has a very masculine head, mobile high set ears and a nice eye. His body is moderately long and well muscled and he has strong hindquarters. Lacked enthusiasm and vigor today.

3rd McGavigan’s Pettigans Veni Vidi Vici

Rhodesian Ridgeback Junior

1st Mulholland & Cunningham’s Walamadengie Heart Throb

A rather impressive masculine male of 18 months. I loved his outline and firm topline. He has an excellent tailset and carriage, good depth of chest and handsome broad head with a nicely defined stop. His movement was beautiful with a forward free action. I’m sure he will have a bright future. Very close decision for BOB.

2nd Shaw’s Negasi Goldberry

Light wheaten bitch of just 12 months. She has a lovely head and expression. Correct bone for size and is well angulated. She stands on good compact feet and moved freely.

3rd Scanlon’s Kinabula’s Beat of my Heart

Rhodesian Ridgeback Graduate

1st Pratt’s Carlincox Cream of Society

Nicely balanced 2 year old red wheaten bitch. I found lots to like about her from her feminine balanced head with correct muzzle and round, bright eye to her nice tailset and correct carriage. She was well muscled and displayed an excellent forward reach. Her feet were compact and she had good bone for her size. I particularly liked her excellent bend of stifle.

Rhodesian Ridgeback Open

1st Shaw’s Negasi Radagast JW

The breed standard asks for a handsome, strong, muscular and active dog who is symmetrical in outline and that is exactly the picture that I was presented with from this 3 year old wheaten male. His balance is excellent and he has a well laid shoulder, good front and lovely depth of chest. His ridge is clearly defined and his temperament was spot on. He had a lovely round eye and closely carried high set ears. His neck was long and strong whilst being clean with no excess. On the move he powered around the ring leaving no doubt about his athleticism and was handled and presented beautifully. He simply oozed quality and showed his socks off to win BOB and ultimately the Hound Group today.

2nd Ritchie’s Jimanns Hell on Heels

At just under 2 years of age this red wheaten bitch presented a feminine image. Her head is a nice balanced shape and she has a lovely, bright eye. Her outline is very clean and accentuated by a super neck. I found her to have a powerful back with a nicely set tail. Today she showed less enthusiasm and could not match 1’s movement.

3rd Scanlon’s Kinabula’s All About the Base ShCEX OSW

Deerhound Open

1st McKie’s Anyanka Chase of Lycanfold

This bitch was a lovely type and at 3 years is now a mature package. I liked her feminine head, clean front and strong, well reaching neck. She has the correct bone for her size and held a lovely topline both stacked and on the move where she was true with an easy free stride. Sympathetically handled to really get the best from her. BOB.

Basenji Open

1st Legget’s CH Swanwite Take a Chance On Me

I loved so much about this super smart 6 year old red and white male. He presents a balanced image with correct bone and small compact feet. His head is really lovely with a dark eye, strong jaw and small pointed ears. Constructed correctly, and looked impressive stacked, he really held is nice shape on the move where he strode out effortlessly using a long swinging stride. BOB & G4.

AV NSC Hound Open

1st Balfour’s Clentry Mango Passion SHCEX

This red Smooth haired Dachshund of 2 years presented a pleasing picture. She has a feminine pretty head with a nicely shaped muzzle, strong jaw and lovely shaped eyes. Her outline was clean, topline firm and her body was moderately long and well muscled. Her movement was very true and with purpose, with a free flowing easy stride.Best NSC & G2.

2nd Lees Bonaforte’s Beautiful Dawn

15 month old Irish Wolfhound bitch. I loved her fabulous head shape which has dark eyes and small rose shaped ears. She has good bone, a long strong neck and topline and moved out freely and easily. She still some maturing to do which is to be expected in this breed at this age.

3rd Morrin’s Code Red Again at Arlatdax JW

Hound Group

1st RR – Shaw’s Negasi Radagast JW

2nd Dachs S/H - Balfour’s Clentry Mango Passion SHCEX

3rd Whippet – Hunter’s CH Collooney Was Meant to Be at Sulahmara JW SCHEX OSW

A very nice male brindle whippet who I have previously judged. He continues to excel and is a rather lovely example of the breed. He is well muscled and shown in great condition. He looks a picture stacked and moves well.

4th Basenji - Legget’s CH Swanwite Take a Chance On Me

AV Hound Puppy

1st Maxwell’s Swansford Padamor

2nd Brough’s Crosscop Fantasy at Limubox (Whippet)

A super whippet bitch puppy. She is feminine and a lovely size and shape. Her head is pretty and framed with small, fine ears. She has a nice eye, good neck and clean outline. On the move she is very true and has a lovely light flowing action. I am sure she will have a very bright future.

AV Hound Veteran

1st Scanlon’s Kinabula’s All About the Base ShCEX OSW

Having judged this Ridgeback bitch previously, many of my previous comments still apply. She continues to impress with her moderate, clean and balanced outline. On the stack she holds a nice shape which does not flacker on the move. It is hard to believe she is now 7 years of age and her condition added to this. She is well muscled and presented in tip top condition.

2nd Burton’s Cornstalk Parti Girl

This 9 year old part coloured whippet bitch defies her age and was shown in super condition. She is of a lovely type and I loved her size and shape. Her outline is shapely and she has a super tailset and carriage. A credit to her owners.
