Firstly, I would like to thank the committee for the kind invitation to judge the utility group at their premier show. Although it was a rather chilly day, the atmosphere was lovely, and great to hear support for exhibitors from around the ring. A huge thank you to all those who entered under me for the day, and even more so for those who braved the cold to be there, it’s much appreciated! Both my stewards did a sterling job keeping the ring running as smoothly as possible all day. I was really spoilt for choice in all the adult group, puppy group and the veteran class. Sorry to my later exhibitors for being rushed.

Junior (1)

1st Reilly, Mangrove Xiphos Spartan Swordman At Darmaror (IMP BEL) TAF. 7 Months dog. Extremely promising young pup, with plenty of scope for future development. Balanced outline with a beautiful head and eye. Ribbing is coming along nicely, with enough width of forechest. Lovely angles front and back. Feet still need to tighten yet, but plenty of time for that! BPIB.

1st Harris, Febus Hardknott. 3 Year bitch. A beautiful bitch I have done well for before. Lovely head proportions, so very pretty. Mature body with a good width and depth of chest. Straight forelegs and well angled all round, which allows her move true with plenty of drive.

2nd Kennedy & Roberts, Kalkasi Graceful Shadow For Joamjess. 4 year Bitch. Lovely head proportions and expression. Heavier in build than 1. Good amount of bone and nice tight feet. Correct angles front and rear. Moving with power and drive. Topline okay.

1st Baverstock, CH Kalkai Just Because JW. 3 year old Dog. An Impressive dog I have done well for before. A lovely typical outline with plenty of substance without coarseness. His expression really won me over today in the challenge. Correct amount of neck into a well laid shoulder. Good heart and lung room with tight elbows. He moves with precision around the ring. BOB, pleased to see him shortlisted in a well filled group.

Puppy (2)

1st Hutton & Walker, Whitewreath Trigger Finger. 11 month old Bitch. A pretty bitch who still had strength and power. So well balanced with great body for one so young. Correct head proportions with a lovely dark almond shaped eye. Super, thick ears which she used to advantage. Muscular neck flowing into a good lay of shoulder. She had the perfect amount of bone to keep her feminine. I really loved her angulation, and her super tight feet. Moving so true with real drive. BOB, BPIB & Puppy Group 2.

2nd Ghent, Claudmist The Most Wanted. 7 month old bitch. Shame she came up against another who was much more mature. A beautifully made puppy who seemed to really enjoy being in the show ring. Well balanced with great proportions. Feet are not far off now, and she still needs to tighten in rear movement. But I really loved her, and really believe she will do well.

1st Bryans, Lin Momoka Go Hi No Arashi At Marilouvale NAF TAF. 7 Month old Dog. Extremely promising young pup who knew exactly what was being asked of him already! A lovely head and expression with thick, well-placed ears and a flat skull. Lovely arched neck into well placed shoulders. Tight elbows, directly below withers with straight well boned legs. Lovely tight feet and a level back. Adequate tuck up. High set tail. Okay rear angulation, hocks ok. Moved steady and precise for one so young. BP.

Special Yearling (4,2)

1st Bryans, Marilouvale Ralph Lauren. 13 month old Dog. This dog really stood out for me today, and I couldn’t resist in giving him top honours. A really beautiful sturdy muscular dog, with nothing overdone. Lovely expression, correct wedge head with a good set of thick ears and the most expressive dark almond eyes. Correct lay of shoulder into well boned straight front legs, on super tight feet. He is well bodied with a good spring of rib and enough tuck up. Retained his lovely topline on the move, with a light and easy, true action. Loved his sickle tail! BOB & Group 4.

2nd Bryans, Marilouvale Fool Me Once. 15 month old Dog. Another lovely dog with a beautiful expression. Good length of neck into a well laid shoulder. Good sturdy body but just not the overall balance of 1st, which actually showed in his movement today.

1st Andrew, Vormund Can’t Wait to Be King Claran. 20 month old Dog. Solid male, with a lovely head and eye. Good spring of rib and correct level back. A little more sloping in front pasterns than desired. Well angulated rear, which helped him power around the ring with ease. RBOB.

2nd Bryans, Marilouve Eddie Murphy JW. 2 year old Dog. Smaller than 1 all through, and possibly a little too small on eye. A good flat skull and shape and size of ear. Straight front legs of good bone on great tight feet. Good spring of rib into a moderate tuck up. High set tail.

3rd Wright, Chikamichi Go From Hachimantai To Sealandair IMP MNE).

1st Wright, Toshiro Mifune Subarashii To Sealandair (IMP POL). 4 year old Dog. Impressive showy boy with a lovely typical outline. Great foxy expression with a nice dark eye and correct ear set – although ears maybe a touch big. Solid body with a good level back and high set tail. Well angulated front and back, moved around the ring with a light brisk action.

2nd Bryans, Marilouve Black Raven. 3 year old Dog. Smaller dog than 1 but of nice proportions and balance. Flat skull with nice expressive dark eyes. Great front assembly and well angulated rear. Not the rear movement of 1st though.

Puppy (5,3)

1st Parsons, Eliterosess Niffler At Brokinla. 6 Month old Eurasier Dog. As soon as this puppy walked into the ring, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on him! Compact body, with good bone and tight, oval feet. Lovely dark oval eye. Well bodied with a high set tail. His movement was so good for a pup so young! BP & Puppy group 3.

2nd Massey, Miofrey Magical With Ristine. 11 Month old Schipperke Bitch. Pretty bitch with a lovely typical outline. Dark expressive eye, with enough fill of cheeks. Ears of good set, okay for size. Good width to chest. Delightfully level back into a high set tail. Good rear angles. Side movement was lovely, ok on rear.

1st Rayner, Nara Go Towa No Miyako (IMP ITA). 17 month old Japanese Akita Inu Bitch. Extremely pretty bitch of a lovely size and bone, but still ultra feminine. Very well balanced all through. Lovely set dark eyes and correctly hooded thick triangular ears. Good arch of neck into a well-placed shoulder. Good width and depth of chest, tight elbows. Tight feet. Well tucked up and a level back. Lovely rear angles. Rear movement okay.

1st Massey, Ristine Tweedledee. 9 year old Schipperke Dog. Well made, compact veteran male, who looked about half his age! Good head, with dark eye and well set ears. Sturdy body with a level topline and high set tail. Moved with a true easy action.

2nd Hladkyj, Tempete Albert Du Royaume Des Terres Gelees. 2 year old Eurasier Dog. Masculine dog with a lovely head. Nice outline on the stack and a level back. Well placed shoulders and straight forelegs of good bone. Chest of good width and depth. Needs to tighten in rear on the move.

1st Wilson, CH/IR CH Chadbower Nevan Henki Mit Clynalwin JW BEL/IR JCH CJW18 CW18/19. 7 year old Schipperke Dog. Very showy male of a lovely size and balance. Masculine boy with a lovely head. True front with good angulation all round. Rounded croup with a well set high tail. Moved with brisk stride. BAVNSC.

2nd Massey, Ristine Magical Spice (NBT). 5 Year old Schipperke Dog. This dog really chased 1st today, and made it a difficult decision for me. In the end, he seemed bored in the ring, allowing 1st to have the edge. Beautifully made cream male with a lovely head and expression. Well-made front, with enough bone. Great topline, rounding at croup. Moved with a lovely light, brisk stride.

Utility Group

A beautiful group of 19 present, absolutely filled to the brim with quality dogs. Even shortlisting to 8 didn’t make decisions any easier! My shortlist also included the Shar Pei, German Spitz Klein, Miniature Schnauzer & Chow Chow.

1st Collier, Kallierbelle Bluebell. 4 year old Dalmatian Bitch. Such a showgirl. So well made throughout and a dog that could have kept going all day long! She really put on a stella performance and holding her topline throughout. She has the most appealing dark oval eyes, giving a lovely expression. Deep chest and tight elbows with tight feet. Pleased to read the BIS judge also saw her quality. Congratulations.

2nd Hattrell, Ithera In Your Dreams At Khinjan JW. 2 year old Lhasa Apso Dog. He really put up a good fight against the Dali here today. A sturdy dog who really painted a beautiful picture. Lovely head proportions, covered well with hair. Strong, muscular neck into well laid back shoulders. Straight legs and strong, balanced body. Moved with great style.

3rd Timms, Olijah Fully Loaded. 20 month old French Bulldog Bitch. Pretty, neat, feminine bitch with the most appealing expression. So very balanced, with muscle and strength galore! Good width of chest and strong loin. Correct slight rise over loin and well muscled, angulated rear. Such a good, honest mover.

4th Bryans, Marilouvale Ralph Lauren. Japanese Shiba Inu.

Utility Puppy Group

1st Howard, Tameron Miss Smell of Chanel. 7 Month old Shih Tzu Bitch. A girl who really knows she has it all. Class and style, with the attitude to match, truly arrogant! Lovely dark well placed eyes and correctly proportioned muzzle to finish off a beautiful expression. Slightly longer than tall with a level back into a high set well plumbed tail. Completely balanced on the stack and the move. I’m sure her future is very bright!

2nd Hutton & Walker, Whitewreath Trigger Finger. 11 month old Akita Bitch.

3rd Parsons, Eliterosess Niffler At Brokinla. 6 Month old Eurasier Dog.

4th Hattrell, Orcavoe Genesis At Khinjan. 9 month old Lhasa Apso Dog. Beautiful outline on this young pup. Good length of neck into a well-placed shoulder. Level topline and strong loin into a high set tail. Tight, catlike feet. Moved around the ring like he’s been doing it for years!

Veteran (19,10)

1st Timms, CH Eastonite Maui JW ShCM OSW. 7 Year old French Bulldog Dog. If he wasn’t in the veteran class, there’s no way I would have believed he was 7! Lovely masculine head with open nostrils. Good wrinkle, not overdone, and enough cheek. Dark round eyes and well placed, medium sized ears. Good length of neck and a solid compact body. Well-muscled, could watch him move all day! Best Utility Veteran. He showed like a dream in the final.

2nd Sampson & Handyside, Dalstorm Future Formula. 7 Year old Dalmatian Dog. Powerful dog with no signs of slowing down. Muscular, without losing his elegance. Lovely expression with his dark eye, surrounded by dark eye rims. Good length of neck into a level back which he held on the move. Deep chest with tight elbows. Good bone and really up on his tight feet. Clearly spotted, completely a beautifully balanced picture. Unlucky to come up against the Frenchie in such good form.

3rd Denby & Webb, Chifido Chasing Rainbows. 7 year old Shar Pei Dog.

1st Parsons, Eliterosess Niffler At Brokinla. 6 Month old Eurasier Dog. Repeat from AVNSC Puppy.

2nd McDonald, Risepark First Lady of Heibri. 10 month old Miniature Schnauzer Bitch. Beautiful square outline to this young bitch. Lovely head and expression with a flat skull and neatly placed high set ears. Slightly arched neck into a correct place of shoulder. Deep chest, correctly sloping topline into well set tail. Well angulated front and back, straight hocks, onto catlike feet. Moved with style. Beautifully handled and groomed.

3rd Ghent, Claudmist The Most Wanted. 7 month old Akita Bitch.

Res Austin-Render, Silvapaws Perfect Dream. 9 Month old Dalmatian Bitch.

1st Tysterman, Carodal Jacobs Ladder. 3 year old Dalmatian Bitch. Pretty Liver and white bitch. Ultra feminine, without losing her strength. Very well balanced with a lovely topline which she held on the move.

2nd Austin-Render, Silvapaws Perfect Dream. 9 Month old Dalmatian Bitch. Sweet puppy who wasn’t too sure about everything going on today but benefitted from a quieter ring at the end of the day. Lots of development still to do. Pretty head and good ear set. Well angulated front and back and moved well when settled.
