Basset Hound Post Graduate (1,0)
1. Bowers’ Sasilasy Edge Of Chaos at Lyonglen. 13 month old tricolour dog. Not entirely confident and therefore not making the most of himself I’m sure. Fairly well made in front and holds a firm topline. Moves very true in the rear with drive but not getting his tail up today. RBOB.
Basset Hound Open (1,0)
1. Twaddle’s Summer Of Love Olea-Bull’s at Sasilasy (Imp). 3 year old tan and white dog. A very masculine male and showing himself off to advantage. Liked his head and eye. Would like slightly more ribbing. Carries himself so well on the move with plenty reach and drive. BOB.
Dachshund (Miniature Smooth-Haired) Post Graduate (5,1)
1. Bains’ Clentry Rewrite The Stars at Wenichones. 3 year old black and tan bitch. Scored for the best outline in profile in this class, once she relaxes. Lovely, feminine head and intelligent expression. Moves true in front and fairly well in profile. RBOB.
2. Barbi’s Dragonfly Sparks. 9 month old red bitch. Giving away on maturity but had the best front construction in the class. Just needs to settle into her hindquarters as she is rather bum high at present. Handled extremely well by her very young handler. BP.
3. Barbi’s Fiery Ember.
Dachshund (Miniature Smooth-Haired) Open (4,3)
1. Kirkwood-Emery’s Marvale Rosefinch at Helydon. 17 month old red bitch. Lovely bitch who presents a good outline, but I would like a touch more ground clearance. A well made front with excellent forechest and ribbing. Moved very well. BOB.
Dachshund (Miniature Wire-Haired) Post Graduate (2,0)
1. Kirkwood-Emery’s Helydon Xtra Xpecial. Two 6 month old siblings with absolutely delightful temperaments, if not quite focused on the job just yet. Both impressed for their balance and proportions, the winning brother putting in a better performance on the move. Loved the head and expression of his sister.
2. Kirkwood-Emery’s Helydon Xceptional Xaya.
Dachshund (Miniature Wire-Haired) Open (2,1)
1. Kirkwood-Emery’s Helydon Nifty Nairn JW. A lovely bitch in excellent condition who was close up in the group. Pleasing head, neck and shoulders. Lots of drive from her super rear and carries herself very well as she moves with reach and drive. BOB.
Dachshund (Long-Haired) Post Graduate (3,2)
1. Maxwell & Chalmers’ Swansford Padamador. 8 month old shaded red dog. A puppy with lots of qualities but still carrying a few extra puppy pounds! Obviously masculine with a well proportioned head. Well ribbed back and holds a firm topline. Free and easy profile mover. BOB & BP, PG4.
Borzoi Post Graduate (2,1)
1. Dollan’s Scotach High And Mighty. A 2 year old red and white dog. Pleasing size and proportions. Fair layback of shoulder but could have a touch more return of upper arm. Pleasing curves to topline into a strong rear. A very true mover up and down but lacks a little stride in profile. RBOB.
Borzoi Open (2,1)
1. Dollan’s Scotach Just Chillin. Litter brother to the winner of the last class and many similarities indeed. Balanced and well proportioned, with pleasing eye, ears and bone. Whilst I would like a touch more spring of pastern on this dog, I preferred his head and he was better in upper arm, thus he had more reach on the move, and so he was BOB.
Irish Wolfhound Post Graduate (3,1)
1. Allison’s Stonestorm Morven. 16 month fawn brindle bitch. Certainly of great size and strength. Quite moderate in her angulation both front and rear, she certainly could have more in front, though I did prefer her strength overall through the front over 2. Excellent carriage on the move, particularly true in front. BOB.
2. Tinker-Haldane’s Malinkey’s Acacia. 2 year old brindle bitch. She pleased me more for shape and angulation, both front and rear, but I would have liked a lot more strength in her forelegs and pasterns, as well as tighter feet.
Irish Wolfhound Open (2,1)
1. Allison’s Stonestorm Argyll. 16 month old fawn brindle dog, litter brother to the winner of the last class. Similar qualities of his sister but unfortunately very unsettled and I wasn’t able to fully go over him. Needs more strength in rear movement but has some reach and drive in profile.
Deerhound Post Graduate (6,4)
1. Clabby’s Humbiehounds Jazz It Up. A 2 year old bitch built on racey lines with a pleasing outline. Typical in head and eye. Would like more layback in front, having said that, she is balanced for and aft. Holds her outline on the move and is very light on her feet, if a touch wide in front.
2. McAlpine’s Humbiehounds Sgona Tattie. 7 month old bitch. Very much a baby in body and mind, free and easy on the move but needs to come together. Pleasing layback of shoulder and return of upper arm. Developing well through the body with good spring of rib and curves throughout.
AVNSC Hound Post Graduate (6,4)
1. Morrin & Barbi’s Zilcan Vanilla Ice for Arlatdax. Dachshund (Miniature Long-Haired). 10 month old shaded cream dog. Lovely head proportions, with dark eye and correct expression. Holds a very good outline on the stack, if a little bum-high on the move. Moved very well for one so young, and a super temperament, even if his tail was a little too happy!
2. Stuart’s Dream Maker from Sufayre. Hamiltonstovare. Very feminine and a lovely size, though still needs time to mature and develop through the body. Moved freely and covered the ground well in profile.
AVNSC Hound Open (9,4)
1. Christie’s Cloudside Valentino at Decalleigh JW. Dachshund (Wire-Haired). 20 month old dog. This dog scores very well for size, balance and proportions. Well made all through and this showed in his true, sound and purposeful movement. He is in excellent condition in all aspects. Deserved his place in a strong group. BAVNSC and HG4.
2. Tinker-Haldane’s Dollydash Never Enough. Dachshund (Wire-Haired). 6 year old dog. Another Wire male who presented a good outline and held it on the move. Masculine head of good length, finished with an impressive beard. He has many qualities but unable to match 1 in front construction, ribbing or hind movement.
3. Morrin’s Code Red Again at Arlatdax JW.
Hound Group
1. Phillips’ Ch Luachmhar Jamilah ShCEx – Saluki. 2 year old deer grizzle bitch. Impressed greatly for her symmetry, elegance and moderation. Very typical head and expression, even if she could have a touch more underjaw. Neck of correct length with some strength, set into well laid shoulders. Excellent outline. Moved with such lightness of foot, rather effortless and easy, with super carriage too. A strong group to top! Delighted to hear she was BIS.
2. Hunter’s Ch Collooney Was Meant To Be at Sulahmara JW ShCEx OSW – Whippet. 3 year old brindle/white trim male. He is of obvious quality and now fully mature, he presents a smooth, curvy and very typical outline, which he also holds on the move. He could be slightly more fluid in his forward reach, nevertheless he does cover the ground and is extremely true coming and going.
3. Moyes, Lockett-Davies, Shaw & Hunter-Ryan’s Rahzmakh Heart O’Summer by Bryelis JW – Afghan Hound. A well-proportioned, classy and typey youngster who impressed for her spring and carriage on the move. Lovely neck into shoulder and holds a firm topline. Would like slightly more forward reach.
4. Christie’s Cloudside Valentino at Decalleigh JW – Dachshund (Wire-Haired).
Hound Puppy Group
1. Place & Halliday’s Aarminias Pillow Talk – Whippet. 6 month old brindle/white trim bitch. A racey and classy puppy who performed like a seasoned pro, which carried her some way in this group. Very good for size and elegance. Feminine head with dark eyes and correct ears which she used to advantage. Very sound on the move with admirable footfall for age.
2. Kirkwood-Emery’s Helydon Xtra Xpecial – Dachshund (Miniature Wired-Haired).
3. Maxwell & Chalmers’ Swansford Padamador – Dachshund (Long-Haired).
4. McAlpine’s Humbiehounds Sgona Tattie – Deerhound.
AV Hound Veteran (8,3)
1. Phillips’ Ch Vidana Amira’s Berega Turi ShCm ShCEx VW (Imp) – Saluki. 9 year old black and cream bitch. The dam of the group winner and easy to see the qualities she passed on. Very well made and displayed this in her accurate and light movement.
2. Scanlon’s Kinabula’s All About The Bass JW ShCEx OSW – Rhodesian Ridgeback. A 7 year old red wheaten bitch I have judged a few times before. So lovely to see her in her Veteran years still impressing with her true, sound and powerful movement in all directions. Just not quite holding her outline on the stack. Delightful temperament.
3. Fitzpatrick’s Blunderhall Moonwalker at Springstorm – Beagle.
AV Hound Junior (19,12)
1. Salkeld & Graham Dalerafenn Follow A Dream. 17 month old fawn/white trim bitch. A really lovely quality bitch who pleased so much for type and outline. Lovely head, eye and expression. Excellent top and underline. Balanced hind angulation and good width to first and second thigh. Moved soundly holding her shape.
2. Brooks’ Collooney For Your Eyes Only JW. 16 month old silver brindle male. I have seen him from the ringside and he is maturing and developing nicely. Beautiful head and expression. Long neck and smooth shoulders. Very well put together all through with good depth. Still not fully settled and this affected his movement.
3. Shaw’s Negasi Goldberry.
