Thank you to the Society for the invitation to judge at their show, and what a wonderful show it was. There was a real buzz throughout the day with the warmest welcome from this forward-thinking Committee and packed ringsides! It really was a pleasure, so thank you!
Dachshund (Miniature Smooth-Haired) Junior (2)
1. Kent’s Lokmadi Don’t Bring Lulu. 6 month old black and tan bitch. Excellent proportions and good clearance. Lovely feminine head with correct eye and expression. Very well made front, just needs to settle into her hindquarters at present. Excellent movement coming and going and went well in profile. Close up for BOB. BP.
2. Holmes’ Mumysami You’re All I Need. 17 month old red dog. Up to size. Very nice head with good length and masculinity, strong neck. Not the front assembly of 1. Very good body and ribbing. Moved ok on the move but couldn’t match 1.
Dachshund (Miniature Smooth-Haired) Open (2)
1. Kent’s Lokmadi Oh What A Circus. 2 year old black and tan bitch. A good size but could have a touch more leg. Liked her head and eye. Excellent forechest, depth and ribbing. Good shoulders, could have a touch more upper arm. Level topline and full rump. Moved well. BOB.
2. Francis’ Stargang Hay Bob at Feebrick. 4 year old red dog. A well-proportioned dog with a clean outline, though he tended to fall away slightly. Super shoulders but needs rather more length of upper arm. A little narrow in front and body, and this showed on the move but otherwise moved soundly.
Deerhound Open (1)
1. Banks’ Zeldini Talon. 2 year old dog. Super proportions and admired his length of leg. Typical and masculine head with kind expression. Fairly well made front. Still showing immaturity in body and hindquarters. Very active and free on the move, but needs to settle at times. BOB.
Norwegian Elkhound Junior (1)
1. McHugh’s Kamgaard Kloudberry Jam for Conrick. 9 month old dog. Excellent proportions and a leggy appearance. Well made and in super body for age with a firm outline. Moves true in front and well in profile. Good coat. Pushed the Open winner hard for BOB. BP.
Norwegian Elkhound Post Graduate (1,1)
Norwegian Elkhound Open (3,2)
1. Clarke’s Graythor Cosmopolitan. Sturdy dog, could have a touch more length of leg for ideal proportions. Really liked his head and expression, with well set ears. Well bodied. Could be truer behind but still very easy on the move. BOB.
Rhodesian Ridgeback Junior (5,3)
1. Greeves’ Penholda Sweet Lady. 16 month old light wheaten bitch. Of good size and the correct proportions. Better in outline than 2. Good strength and balance to skull and muzzle yet retaining femininity. Good shoulders but rather straight in upper arm and a little out at elbow. Well angulated hindquarters with good width of thigh. Moved well but needs to settle in front.
2. Zhao’s Vkloof Lady Lambo Huracan. 9 month old red wheaten bitch. Good overall proportions but needs to drop and relax into herself to improve her outline. A bit narrow in front and loose in front movement, though has good layback of shoulder and better return of upper arm than 1. Super coat and muscle condition.
Rhodesian Ridgeback Post Graduate (6,1)
1. Parsons’ Priorpark Proud As Punch JW. 19 month old wheaten bitch. Loved her proportions and flow of outline. Beautifully balanced head carried on a long neck flowed smoothly into well laid shoulders, though to be highly critical, she could have ever so slightly more return of upper arm. Ribbed well back and short in loin, covers the ground very well. Admired the way she held herself on the move, where she was so free and easy with super reach and drive.
2. Shaw’s Negasi Radagast JW. 2 and a half year old dog. Have judged this male before and done him well. Like his balance and proportions, though not the flow of outline of 1. Masculine head. He scores in neck and front construction. A very sound and positive mover, but couldn’t match 1 on stride.
3. Jolly’s Negasi Elberith for Clanbruachan JW.
Rhodesian Ridgeback Open (6,1)
1. Parsons’ Ch Priorpark Poetry In Motion JW. 19 month old liver nosed bitch. A top class bitch full of type and quality. Excels in proportions, balance and outline, standing over plenty ground. Lovely head and so well constructed throughout. Superb mover, so light on her feet with a supple and long stride, and carries herself so well. She never missed a beat. BOB, Hound Group 1 and pleased to see her go onto a well deserved RBIS.
2. Rhodes’ Ch Priorpark You Coda Be Mine of Metalrock JW. 3 year old red wheaten dog. Another top quality dog from this kennel. Masculine and upstanding, he too was of the correct proportions with excellent overall conformation. Pushed the winner hard and though a super sound and positive mover, just couldn’t match the winner’s suppleness and freedom of movement.
3. Hodge’s Kxoxo I’m Old Fashioned for Colkeririn JW (Imp FIN).
AVNSC Puppy (5,1)
1. Kent’s Barratini Du Beke at Lokmadi. Dachshund (Miniature Wire-Haired). 10 month old dog. Very attractive head and expression. Excellent proportions and topline. Could be ribbed further back and hocks could be stronger. Super jacket. Went well in profile. BPAVNSC.
2. Smith’s Rayol Charlie Brown. Dachshund (Smooth-Haired). 10 month old red dog. Another nice dog, up to size and some puppy fat to lose. A little strong in skull. Very pleasing proportions and shape. Excellent front and ribs. Sound on the move but could use himself a bit more.
3. Murray & Melbourne’s Diheath Marta. Basset Hound.
AVNSC Junior (6,2)
1. Melbourne & Murray’s Diheath Chekov. Basset Hound. 8 month old tan and white dog. Totally masculine and appeared very typical. A little heavy over the shoulder at present. Super ribbing and body. Excellent hindquarters. Free and active mover with good drive from the rear.
2. Jones’ Blevwil Helter Skelter. Basset Fauve De Bretagne. Good proportions for the breed and liked his size and shape. Lovely head, expression and ears. A little narrow in front when viewed from front, but fairly well angulated in front. Could have a touch more hind angulation. Moved soundly holding topline.
3. Francis & Kent’s Lokmadi Gabriel at Feebrick.
AVNSC Post Graduate (2)
1. Green’s Wildebeest Will V.Grunsven (Imp NLD). Basset Hound. 15 month old tan and white dog. Masculine dog with good carriage on the move. Lovely neck. Ok shoulders, could have more return of upper arm and ribs could have more spring. Excellent topline and hindquarters. Moved very well.
2. Johnson’s Virdis Pink Floyd. Borzoi. 5 year old dog. Pleasing head, neck and front construction. Rather short in body and weak in hindquarters. Movement was difficult to assess.
AVNSC Open (4,1) Difficult class, not surprised to see all three are Champions!
1. Milton’s Ch Wilmit Jugeote. Basset Griffon Vendeen (Grand). 4 year old bitch. This bitch instantly appealed for her total balance, super proportions and quality look. Moderate and flowing throughout. Lovely length of head with a well defined stop, and super expression. Well made all through and solid topline which she holds on the move, where she goes so freely with excellent drive from the rear. Super tail and carriage. Seriously pushed hard for the group. Group 2.
2. Garrett & Oakey’s Ch Caryna Remeny. Saluki. 5 year old black and silver bitch. Lovely bitch with a super flowing outline. Beautiful head, neck and front. Very sound on the move with good reach and drive, but to be highly critical, could have been a touch lighter on her feet.
3. Carrington’s Ch/Lux Ch Bushwacker Oceans Eleven. Basenji. 3 year old tricolour dog. Must mention this dog for many of his typical qualities, no disgrace to be stood 3rd here.
AV Veteran (8,2)
1. Garrett & Oakey’s Ch Glenoak Lunah from Caryna. Saluki. 7 year old tricolour bitch. Lovely bitch of quality. Well made all through with lovely balanced angulation front and rear. Would like a stronger and more flowing topline. Such a true and sound mover in all directions, with super drive from the rear.
2. Hodge’s Ch Colkeririn Face To The Sun JW ShCM. Rhodesian Ridgeback. 8 year old red wheaten bitch. Lovely head and long neck. Liked her layback of shoulder and return of upper arm. Good strength and balance to her hindquarters. Lovely bitch who moved well and carries herself very well. Close decision.
3. Whitaker-Crosby’s Cobyco Could Be The Last at Mulcair JW ShCM. Whippet.
