Open Club Show 31st March 2024

Thankyou to the committee for the warm welcome and delicious lunch, and thankyou to my wonderful steward Lady Wendy Bray.

It was also a pleasure to co-judge with Mr Tony Allcock OBE

We had large rings for both breeds but unfortunately lots of dogs didn’t like the floor surface so weren’t moving as well as I’ve seen these dogs move in the past.

I found all exhibits clean and well presented, polite exhibitors, all the dogs had super temperaments and I didn’t find any incorrect mouths.

Veteran Dog 3/0abs

1st – Williams – Ch Spellcast Talk To Da Paw At Trebettyn ShCM VW – 13yrs young - One I’ve judged on a couple of occasions and have awarded him top honors before but today he was just lacking that previous sparkle, however, that said he is still an extremely worthy champion, he oozes breed type, neat feet with the best of fronts, so balanced in outline and still holding his topline on the move.

2nd Smiths – Sobriety Suited And Booted – 7yr old cream boy, loved his eye shape, I would prefer a slightly higher ear set to complete his head balance, his coat is the correct texture and in fabulous condition (smelt delicious), loved his overall shape and balance, super turn of stifle, moved out with power with a foot perfect sidegate. His muscle tone was one of the best I found today.

Post Graduate Dog – 2/1abs

1st – Chapmans - Kitsune Gypsy King (AI) – Wow! I LOVED this stunning young black dog, I was absolutely gutted he was so distracted and wasn’t showing, he has everything I look for in a male GS, excellent bone, tidy feet, standing square with ease at all times, the most handsome head with prefect ear size and set, well knit body… I just loved him and would easily take him home. He is one to watch once he pulls himself together.

Limit Dog – 3/2abs

1st – Saichs – Lindcoly Simba – One I’ve admired ringside and didn’t disappoint! Stunning head and expression, moved out with ease and style, good for bone, best coat texture I found today, super square, fell for his stunning dark eyes. Really pushed hard for top awards but he annoyingly kept sitting down in the challenge.

2nd – Smiths – Jansanleis Night Fever – Delightful cream lad, different type to 1st, wonderful spitzy outline, really lovely dark eyes and intelligent expression, another beautifully presented coat and great muscle tone. Moved ok, he didn’t like the flooring and kept swinging his left hind out. I’m sure he’ll move better on grass or more comfortable surface.

Open Dog – 2/0abs – Lovely class of two quality males

1st – Chapmans – Kitsune Notorious (AI) – Stunning sable boy, oooozing in breed type, super square in outline creating balance, had the most beautiful dark eye and pigment, great bone, tidy feet, good coat, moved out with style with that beautiful spitzy brisk action. Handled very well by his young handler. Litter brother to PG winner and they share very similar qualities. BEST DOG – he unfortunately kept standing himself long in the BOB challenge just losing out.

2nd – Folkes – Spellcast Love Talks At Dacfolke (AI) – Smart black boy, smaller than 1st but still of excellent breed type, wonderful front assembly, tidy feet, kind and gentle expression, good ears that he used well, moved out with style and ease. RES BEST DOG

Veteran Bitch - 4/3abs

1st – Williams – Ch Dulais Moonlight Over Paris At Trebettyn JW – Beautiful 7yr old sable bitch with an air of snobbery about her, not in full coat but it that just showed her beautiful confirmation, she is so pretty, best rear assembly of the day that powdered her around the ring, nice tidy front, neat feet and standing 4 square at all times – RES BEST BITCH & BEST VETERAN IN BREED – Lovely to see her very young handler to take charge of her in the BV challenge.

Puppy Bitch – 2/0abs

1st – Saichs – Lindcoly - She’s A Knockout – Pretty sable girl, very sweet expression with a wonderful temperament, good bone, moved very well, still a little lose in front but that will tighten up as she matures, super correct coat, neat feet and had a super outline when stood. BEST PUPPY IN BREED AND BEST PUPPY IN SHOW (in agreement with the co-judge Mr Tony Allcock)

2nd – Chapmans – Kitsune Coronation Queen – Black girl going through the junior stage and a little overwhelmed today so she wasn’t really feeling it. She will be lovely when she pulls herself together.

Junior Bitch – 1/0abs

1st – Saichs – Lindcoly Show Stopper – My notes say “crazy” (laughing), but what a fabulous happy personality, I got lots of kisses, she’s very sweet, sooooo pretty, the few steps I did see she moved really well. Be interesting to see her again when she’s listening to her owner.

Post Graduate Bitch – 3/1abs

1st – Folkes – Dacfolke Bolly Bubbles – Sweet little black and white parti, pretty girl, a little long and low but moves so well.

2nd – Saichs – Lindcoly Colour Me Blue – Sweet girl, overwhelmed by her day, a true blue colour, loved her dark eye and colour tipped ears, couldn’t really access her movement as she insisted on using 2 legs instead of 4.

Limit Bitch - 2/1abs

1st Andrews – Claran Blue Aurora – Soooooo pretty and beautifully behaved, loved her type, super feet and move out with so much style, at one with her handler. – Just lost out on RBB as I felt she was a fraction longer in cast than the veteran bitch.

Open Bitch – 2/1abs

1st Andrews – Ch Claran Blue Galaxy – Stunning blue sable bitch who I’ve always admired and didn’t disappoint when I got my hands on her! She has a spellbinding look about her that’s both soft and powerful at the same time. She has fabulous neat feet and the best of fronts, beautifully compact with good muscle tone and excellent assembly in the rear, she moved out with passion and drive but makes it look completely effortless. BEST OF BREED AND RES BEST IN SHOW (in agreement with the co-judge Mr Tony Allcock)
