Carlisle & District Canine Society Premier Open Show

20th April 2024

Siberian Huskies & Greenland Dogs (CEDs – No Entries)

Judge: Mrs Louise Forster (Kachemak)

Thank you to the Committee of the Carlisle & District Canine Society for the invitation judge, for the hospitality provided on the day, and for the lovely judges gift which I will definitely make good use of. Thank you also to my efficient stewards who kept things on track. The venue was very good providing lots of room for exhibitors to set up, although I do feel a few extra feet of ring space would have been beneficial for the working breeds. Entries were clearly affected by the clash with the W&PBW Champ Show but I was impressed with the quality of the entries nonetheless.

Siberian Husky

Puppy (2/2 Abs)

Yearling (1/0)

1st Patrick’s Siberiadrift White Winter – Very feminine 17 month old bitch with an appealing foxy expression & making a lovely shape in outline with correct angles at both ends. She has a good length of neck, strong level back & muscular loin. She stood on good feet with straight front legs of proportionate bone. Her movement in profile was balanced & efficient & she was straight coming & going.

Limit (3/1)

1st Waterfield’s Gercekask Amortentia – Beautifully presented 2 year old bitch with correct head shape, ears & eye placement giving her an alert & mischievous expression. There’s a lovely shape to her neck & topline which she held firm on the move. Good depth of chest & well ribbed with a strong well muscled loin. Longer in body than the dog she came up against in the challenge but expected in a bitch & was in great condition & without weakness. Good reach & drive on the move on the go around with a dead straight down & back.

2nd Patrick’s Siberiadrift White Winter – as 1st in Yearling. A lot of similarities between the two bitches but preferred the conditioning of 1.

Open (5/3)

1st Kent’s Lyfearon We’re All Mad Here JW – Very attractive red boy who at 3 year old is in his prime. Typical head & expression with correct eyes & ears. Excellent condition & presentation, this boy makes a beautiful outline with good height to length ratio, good depth of chest, firm topline, strong loin, slightly sloping croup & correct bone. He has a very good front with correct shoulder placement & excellent angles for & aft. On the move he flowed with a light & effortless easy action, driving from his rear & reaching well with his correctly put together front. On the down & back he was straight & true. BOB & pleased to see him awarded Group 4 in a large working group.

2nd Patrick’s Ch Tom Bombadil Of Poliarine Arktika At Coldasice – Another beautiful red boy who is correct throughout & full to the brim of quality. Attractive in the head with correct eye & ear shape & placement. At 10 years, he is only slightly giving away his age on the move where he is just not quite as driven, but just as balanced & true as his younger competition. He has wonderful correct angulation, a beautiful front assembly, straight legs with excellent feet & proportionate bone.

Open (3/0)

1st Blaney’s Esp/Int Ch Fenrirkin Can’t Be Late ShCEx SUI JCH – 3 year old red bitch with an appealing yet serious expression, strong but undoubtedly feminine. She has a strong muscular neck which flows into a firm level back, ending in a correctly set tail. Her outline is one of balance & proportion, but gives a sense of immense power waiting to be unleashed. She has wonderful angles at both ends which give her the correct reach & drive on the move, she coped well with the size of the ring but would have benefited greatly from more space, as would all of the Greenlands in particular. BOB

2nd Blaney’s Esp/Sui/Ir/Int Ch Suna-Sanik’s Electric Noah Of Fenrirkin (Imp Nor) – Another extremely powerful looking dog, quite obviously masculine & considerably larger than his female competition. His head was the typical broad wedge with a somewhat cheekier expression than the bitch in 1st. Fully mature at 5 years old, he has heavy bone, strong straight legs & large deep feet. He has a well angled front with plenty of forechest & a good depth of chest. Moving he was hampered by the ring size but still able to display some of the power that he looks capable of. This, as well as the bitch’s superior topline were what ultimately put him in 2nd place.

3rd Blaney’s Sui/Ir/Ch Suna-Sanik’s Freidige Alice Of Fenrirkin (Imp Nor)
