Southampton & District Canine Association

Thank you to the committee for the opportunity, this being my first Toy Group appointment, the hospitality afforded me and to the exhibitors for entering their dogs and taking my decision sportingly. The grass being relatively long for such small breeds was a problem for a lot especially the puppies, as was the fact the ring was surrounded by large breeds for most of the day, I did take this into consideration when judging. My thanks also to all my stewards for their help on the day.

Chihuahua (Long Coat) Classes

Puppy 2/2

1 Culverhouse’s Lykath’s Anduril - 10 months old, gold and white dog, good head with apple dome skull. Round large dark eyes well placed, ears well set. Nice coat of good texture. Moved out well around the ring with brisk action, tail carried correctly. BP

2 Cater’s Lykath’s Light of Earendil in Pixels - 10 months old, gold and white bitch, correct apple dome head shape, large well set on flaring ears, lovely topline on the move, well balanced angulation.

1 Cater’s Lykath’s Laura Thyme in Pixels - Red and white bitch, 11 months old. Nice breed standard head with well-placed large eye and well-set ears. Good reach of neck. Really showed well on the move with excellent reach and drive. Holds a good topline. RBOB

2 Culverhouse’s Kechua James Hathaway by Lykath JW – Pretty cream and white, 2 year old dog, moved out well, correct apple dome head shape framed by nice large flaring ears with large dark round eyes and correct dentition. Slightly arched neck.

1 Culverhouse’s Lykath’s The Pirate King - Gold and white, 4 year old dog, lovely head and expression which caught my eye, with good apple dome skull lovely large round eyes, well placed. Ears correctly set on. He holds a good topline and moved with attitude and purpose around the ring, tail carried correctly. Well bodied with balanced angulations. Good coat of correct texture. BOB

2 Cater’s Pixels Moonlit Sea JW - Fawn 4 year old bitch, good head with apple dome skull. Round dark eyes well placed, ears well set. Nice coat of good texture. Correct dentition.

1 Hollister’s Hollichi Ren’s Legacy - Blue Fawn Sable, 2 year old bitch, this little dog had great ring presence, she stood four square great body length in nice proportions, moved out with purpose liked her topline, built well with very nice shoulders, correct head shape. BOB

2 Emery’s Slavinchi Simply Peachy - Fawn and White 18 month old bitch, with good apple dome skull lovely large round eyes, well placed. Ears correctly set on. Built fine boned but still moved well.

Just 6 months old, had the loveliest head, such a gentle expression on this well constructed baby. Just loved the smart shape, great little mover, straight and true maintaining a good top line with good reach, should mature very nicely, surly another little star for this kennel.

1 Pirrie and McEvoy’s Guereza Goody Goody Gumdrop - 11 months old, came in and stole the show, even on the long grass for toy breeds, anyway, Excellent movement cutting a very nice shape, she moved like a little dream, lively and self-confident, met the breed standard to a tea, her stunning head had me, I loved her mischievous monkey-like expression. BOB, BP, TOY Group 1 and Puppy Toy Group 1 followed by RBPIS

1 Pirrie and McEvoy’s Afterglow Cheddar Gorgeous Guereza – 2 year old obviously out of coat but this made it easy to look how well built this cheeky girl is, a high quality bitch with a lovely head, moved soundly from all directions. RBOB

2 Shepherd’s Ch Avantgarde Les Fleurs Du Mal - 2 year old bitch, there was little splitting these two, slightly bigger than 1 still lots to like about this exhibit, meets the breed standard with ease.

1 Dennison’s Ch Ettology Bounteous Barney JW - 3 years old dog, breed standard typical in outline, he is in excellent condition, has rich tans and clear markings. Well angulated hindquarters give him drive on the move. Correct topline, he has dark and almond shaped eyes and nicely set candle flame ears. BOB

2 Haffenden & Wood’s Ch Nasabe Play the Game JW – 21 month old bitch, she has a nice, clean, wedge shaped head, flat skull, high set ears candle flame ears and dark, almond shaped eyes. Well angulated hindquarters. Close decision, but I preferred 1’s outline on the move.

2 Coull’s Vardenais Petite Noir - 3 year old bitch, Black and Tan, very nice female with all round good qualities, compact and alert correct dark eye and good scissor bite with lovely clean dentition, good ear set and size, movement was hesitant.

2 Trickett’s Cotontricks Proper Diva - 14 months old bitch, good example of the breed again good pigmentation dark eyes and black nose, coat of correct texture, correct topline and tail set, moved well.

1 Scott’s Mopseyscoton Minti Minki - 5 year old dog, beautiful for head proportions, lovely round, expressive eyes with black eye rims. Good shape and size with slight rise of his top line over his loin, correct topline. Nicely balanced angulation with good bone he was good to go over on the table, correctly built which lead to smart, free movement BOB & G3.

2 Fry’s Blosscoton Kuhsandruh - 5 year old bitch, correct skull, good pigmentation lovely dark round eye and correct cotton texture coat, correct topline and tail set, moves well both ways.

1 Scott’s Cotonkiss Conqueror VW - 8 years old dog, another excellently presented exhibit from this kennel. Well balanced head of good black pigment with correct stop, dark round eyes, nice body proportions, moved really well keeping a nice outline. RBOB

2 Cheshire’s Cukoton Hiawatha - 4 year old dog, correct skull, good pigmentation lovely large round eyes, correct cotton texture coat, slightly rises topline with well-sprung rib, moves ok.

1 Matthews’ Jaynepaps Alsephina Vela - 6 months old bitch, Red Sable and White, really wanted to eat the grass but settled in the end, very attractive head correct size eyes with lovely dark rims which makes her very appealing. She is pleasing to go over in confirmation , good example of the breed and keeps her outline on the stand and on the move. BP

2 Quinn’s Amber Beauty Xany (Imp PL) - 11 months old dog, Tricolour, smart little man, nice size, lovely intelligent looking dog, used his large heavily fringed ears well. Lovely head shape with correct medium size rounded eyes which were dark with dark rims, and scissor bite. Moved positively.

2 Matthews’ Baillion Be Unique - 12 months old dog, Tricolour. Correct head shape, rounded eyes which were dark, large heavily fringed ears. Satisfactory example of the breed pleasing to go over in confirmation and keeps his outline on the stand and on the move.

1 Quinn’s Magic Sunrise Imperator Son (Imp LVA) - 5 year old dog, Red Sable and White, another excellently presented exhibit from this kennel. Very smart little man liked him, nice size, lovely intelligent looking dog, used his large heavily fringed ears well. Lovely head shape with correct medium size rounded eyes which were dark with dark rims, and scissor bite. Moved positively, free-flowing and has good angulation which leads to correct level top line. BOB

2 Makepeace’s Hugapug Guy Fawkes at Sandigara - 20 months old dog Fawn, good size. lovely cobby type, good bone. Holds a lovely profile standing and on the move. Good chest, tail set on well. Nice round dark eyes.

Moved out very well around the ring with typical gait purposefully and steady showing off his lovely level topline Tail set on well with tight curl. Well balanced angulations. Nice head with well-placed eyes BOB

2 Makepeace’s Cedilla Cherry Jubilee at Sandigara – 2 year old bitch, Fawn. A satisfactory example of the breed pleasing to go over in confirmation and keeps her outline on the move, correct gait. Nice round dark eye creating the correct expression for the breed.

1 Fitzgerald’s Adorele Put a Spell on You at Beaugem – 8 month old red and white bitch, what an apt name she walked in the ring like she owned it with lovely sound movement level topline, she shows herself very well, beautiful for head proportions, correct expressive eyes with black eye rims. 2 Day’s Immeleon Peppermint Latte In Cubadias - 11 month old Cream and White bitch another promising puppy, good example of the breed again good pigmentation dark eyes and black nose, and keeps her outline on the stand and on the move.
